Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a 2009 American computer-animated science fiction comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation and loosely based on the 1978 children's book of the same name by Judi and Ron Barrett. The film was written and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in their directorial debuts, and features the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T, Benjamin Bratt, and Neil Patrick Harris. The film centers around an aspiring inventor named Flint Lockwood who develops, following a series of failed experiments, a machine that can convert water into food. After the machine gains sentience and begins to develop food storms, Flint must stop it in order to save the world.

*Fun Fact:* The movie was based on the children's book of the same name made by the couple Judi (writer) and Ron Barrett (illustrator). Though, the premise of the book is the same as the film except there's no Flint Lockwood nor the machine that he invented. Just the Grandpa who read bedtime stories to his grand kids and the meteorology in the original story is the most fascinating fever dream ever experienced.

@robonator2945

yeah discord really isn't a social media, by like, any measure. A social media's basis is getting content (or, media) out of things your friends and other people you share a social connection with post. They are intentionally posting things so that other people view them, they are content creators, just small ones. In contrast discord is designed to just let people communicate with each other, you would have to go out of your way to get that sort of content dynamic that defines social media apps. I think some people probably do end up using it like that anyway despite it clearly not being designed for that purpose but I'd hazard a guess that that is a result of their pre-engrained social media habit that they are pushing onto it. It, as an application, is not designed as a social media any more than email is, and if you also consider email a social media then I'd question the utility of that word to begin with.

as a person who was born (and, therefore, had a childhood) with the internet around, even if it was in its early stages, I can somewhat give you a perspective that you may have (or may not have) been searching for. To be honest, I’m not very old. But, from what I can remember, since the world of the internet had always been right at our doorstep, it was just… normal. It was a massive world, filled with all kind of people. But, y’know, as a kid, you don’t really see the big picture, and so, I only saw the internet as “the thing with funny recordings of people”. So I guess you could say, that I think that it would be scarier to live in a small world that suddenly expands to a massive place with anything, than to have always lived in a massive world. So, as a summary, no, it was never scary because it was all we ever knew, and it was also wonderful. Isn’t that something?

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was one of my favourite movies when I was younger. I remember my brother pirating buying the movie and watching it for the first time when I was around 4 years old. It's one of my earliest and fondest memories. I watched the movie an ungodly amount of times on one of those non touch screen ipods. I'm pretty sure me and my brothers could quote entire scenes with no flaws at this point. I haven't watched it in the past couple of years and I'm so happy that this movies existence has been brought back to my attention. Also, despite all the time I've spent with this movie, I don't think I ever thought of it's message. (Which I guess is obvious because most kids usually don't think about what Shrek 3 could mean for industrial society and it's future.) Of course, movies are a form of art and art can be interpreted in any way you want, but I love this interpretation so much, and the message it gives is one that everyone could use, especially today. Thank you so much for this video!

Start by finding friends with similar interests, it's a good start to find those who appreciate you for who you are. Essentially, being how others want you to be gives temporary validation where being yourself and having others appreciate you gives you permanent validation. "Be yourself" is a huge component to self love, for which leads to self validation.

Then the algorithm stopped pushing my videos and my views dropped and it was crushing, so I stopped uploading. Keep on keeping on, Ed. Another fantastic video, as always. As a small Time artist, I also struggle to balance my well being versus what I think others want or need out of me. It's a battle that isn't easily won, but it's finding people who inspire me and make my day worth living in my every day life that keeps me going. The people behind a screen can be great, even some of the best friends I've had. But it's only part of the story. People are meant to embrace community in all kinds of ways, and that includes their own part in it.
@RomWatt

This truly made me realize how much I've become overreliant on other people's validation. Whenever I release a new video or a new artwork, I feel devastated when it underperforms, it hurts my self-esteem and it discourages me from keeping making more. I want to be able to live off my craft, but at this point I think I'm just being delusional. I know this mindset where making stuff for clicks is very unhealthy, but I have a very hard time shaking it off! I wish I had the motivation to do what I love only because I want to.

I finally watched Mitchells vs. the Machines recently and adored every second. Such a funny, timeless movie. I decided to come back to this because of the Lord-Miller connection, and it made me realize a lot of Lord-Miller films have the same plot elements. The father point you brought up, "some thing or other was a fake and the characters have to reckon with that," AND the "heroes have to get some sort of kill code to the antagonist (USB 3 times out of 4) but OH NO an inconvenience arises!" Does it make the films BAD? Lord, no, they're amazing, it just struck me as funny.

I'm not even gonna lie a damn bit. This video is honestly helping me come to terms with how I work on social media. I make a lot of art and characters and other stuff that I hope people will enjoy, and I was, and still kind of am, reliant on how people witnessed and liked it. Obviously, that's still a nice thing and I want to know if people like what I make, but it was a big problem because I became VERY upset when people stopped seeing what I made. But because of this video, I'm getting used to just making what I make because I love making it. I'll really only go to my friends if I want to see if people like what I make, but I'm getting a lot better at accepting that I don't need random admiration to be successful in my eyes; all thanks to this video. Thank you Eddie, for helping me help myself

Just like Uncle Ben was a great role model for Peter and died. Just like those characters you mention who need a parent figure. You can care about what people think and still make your own decisions and be confident. I don't ask for your approval and Im confident. People choose to be dependent on things

This was an excellent video! I hadn’t thought much about the dangers of too much outside validation vs. not enough self-validation before, so having it laid out in an informative yet silly way genuinely did click a few switches in my head. That probably sounds like nonsense cause I’m bad with words, so to try and clarify this is a video I didn’t know I needed and I’m glad you made it :)

Dear Eddache , Never feel like you have to sacrifice your personal needs for your audience. There are almost 200 thousand people who watch your videos every time you upload. I recently went on a binge of your content, and I fell in love with it all over again. Please don't overwork yourself for us. You deserve time for yourself. As long as you're doing that, I don't think I'll stop watching anytime soon. -Sincerely, me.

I feel like that's my problem, I've been living without validation for years, my parents gave me validation as a toddler but not once as a teen constantly, de-validating and devaluing me instead,, and depression makes me blind to any validation I could get. How am I supposed to validate myself when I feel alone in this world, I work on my projects for eventual validation but it just feels like an isolating experience, and that I'm using my work for people to validate me. I feel like my parents left me with a void because of how they talked to me, constantly acting as if they hated me, and by the time they did compliment me, I was already depressed.

You know... During a part of my high school years I was questioning whether or not I should buy snacks/drinks during recess every time I wanted or manage my money properly, and sometimes I'd just not go through with it and spend the rest of the school day with my mouth dry So I eventually brought this up to my mom, and you know what she told me? To buy the snacks anyway. Because *I'm worth it*

I relate with what you said here. I write webcomics, and my first one was a success in the web where I published, but I had to stop that webcomic because reasons, and I could not replicate that early success.
