I guess he finally accepted that it truly was the end of the line for him and his era, and decided to let Paul Levesque start the Renaissance Era of WWE with a good example. That's my hunch anyway.

Regardless wether he hated Vince or not with the whole stardust gimmick the fact that he quit and go independent in the indie shown that he didn’t give on his dream of being a professional wrestler just like Nic Nermeth now ( Dolph Ziggler as of this comment is the current IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion & AAA Mega Champion at the same time ). Cody saw value in himself and stick with it until he choose to return to WWE. Vince wanted Cody back really shown how much of a star the American nightmare has became. It’s one hell of an inspirational story which he finished at Wrestlemania 40.

The number one reason Cody failed at AEW was Cody himself. There is a reason why he was constantly booed and it wasn't due to a sound glitch.

In AEW he booked himself that is why he had his wife along. You can never be over as a face with a wife around you. Imagine if Hogan had a wife along him in the 1980's. The one with the wife Macho man was usually a heel.

Cody is Codys worst enemy cause he's stubborn and entitled and only looks out for whats good formhim in his eyes, he doesn't look at the big picture or for enhancing the company or other talent or anyone other then Cody. Won't be long b4 he goes the same way he went in AEW, nothing has changed what so ever espically now that he lost the only thing that made him relavent which was chasing the cheif, even WWE knows this which is why we're teasing a Rock match that's still a minimum of half a year out, why? Cause he's got nothing else!

Aew is a great stepping stone too make it too the big leagues of WWE it’s good to have around they can start of there get their career going then move to the big leagues at NXT and then finally the main roster or can sometimes just be prepared to go straight to main roster with some time spent in performance centre

I'd hardly say he 'failed' in AEW lol. I don't believe this online gossipy nonsense. Dude is one of the most over superstars in wrestling right now. He went to multiple promotions and made a name for himself. He helped build up AEW and then he bounced. Now he's at the top of the world in WWE as undisputed wwe universal champion

Cody did not "fail" in AEW, per see. He still had a bevy of great moments there; it was his connection with the crowd that started going off the rails.

His booking in AEW is what ultimately made the fans turn on him. He was in bad storylines: the pro-America, xenophobic one with Agogo in 2020...the worst possible time to try that, being the prime example. Seeing comments online predicting a Homelander esque heel turn made me wanting that too. I didn't think him leaving at the time was the best option, but damn if he wasn't right on so many fronts. Him wanting to stay a babyface required him leaving AEW at that time.

I think it would make the most sense right now to book him in a fued with AJ Styles because AJs a heel right now and I think their styles would mix well together. I would love to see Cody face AJ, Randy, Solo, KO, and even Sami Zayn before he faces Gunther.
