How David is a Type of Christ: How to find Jesus in the OT pt 13 

I’m glad I found this series 4 years later so I can just bing it one a day instead of waiting two weeks in between.

King David was a man after God's own heart, Christ is a man who possesses God's own heart, it is the same with all those who believe in the Christ, they simply seek God's own heart, which is the Holy Spirit which is within you, if you belong to Christ, and in this we seek to be perfect Within, where all flesh and Sin is circumcised, and one is made perfect in light and love.

"He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen." Revelation 22:20‭-‬21 Amen!!!

Beautiful teaching! I am not sure if this was in your notes, but another way David's life paralleled Jesus's was in his marriage to Saul's daughter Michal. Saul wanted her to be a snare unto David. Consequently, rather than giving her to David based on the stipulations for defeating Goliath, Saul told David he could marry her by paying a dowry of 100 Philistine foreskins. But, to Saul's chagrin, David returned with 200 foreskins (1 Samuel 18:25-27). Sadly, when David fled from Saul, he had to leave his wife Michal behind. Even though Saul knew David was still alive, he gave David's wife to Phaltiel. Years later, when David was about to take over from Saul's son as the king of Israel, he added the stipulation that Ishbosheth must return his first wife Michal (2 Samuel 3:14). David had other wives but he wanted the woman he paid the price for. Likewise, Jesus said, 'My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one.' ~ John 10:27-30 (KJV) Christ Jesus is coming back for His bride, which most of us call the church. But He is coming back for His Jewish bride, the one who has been in the arms of another for too long. No one will pluck His sheep out of His hand. David redeeming Michal is slightly different than Hosea redeeming Gomer, but they point to Christ Jesus redeeming His bride, Gentiles and Jews.

“Despised” is exactly correct. The dictionary defines it as “taken no account of,” “disregarded,” “not valued.”

I know that I'm late to this video, but in my studies on Messianic Jewish Hermeneutics, ive read that when David played music to King Saul, he played a 22 stringed instrument, playing music created from the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet !! There's actually videos on RU-vid, where the Hebrew alphabet is played like music notes, and its so very interesting and beautiful. Just an idea, but what if David literally played The Word of God, bringing comfort to King Saul ?!?! God bless you Pastor Winger.

When I first read the story of David I very much thought it sounded like Cinderella. When they came to see who the shoe fit and they didn’t even call Cinderella to see if it fit her because she was just the step daughter. I wonder if that’s where they got that story ..

Have you not read what David did in the days of Abiathar? ( Matthew 12 : 3, Mark 2 : 25, Luke 6 : 3 ) 1 Samuel 21:7 22:22 0.o

It's simply. Christ means anointed one and since people of Israel considered the ones who were anointed to be leaders for Israel, whether priests or kings, it would make sense why David would be a messiah type or Christ type or anointed one type. Which ever word you wanna use because they both mean the same. People believed Jesus to be the anointed one to save Israel from its enemies which at the time was the Romans.

David made Goliath's death certain with Goliath's own sword. Christ through death broke the power of death and the devil. He used satan's most powerful and fearful weapon against him, defeating him and liberating us. You should study the typology of the Virgin Mary . Mary has the most sophisticated typology that I have happened upon yet . She's not a God but what she is is mind blowing .

David is a messiah (Christ) he was a anointed King, and if God (Holy Spirit) is the father of Jesus, he can't be a son of David, and Jesus was never King of Israel, please study the old testament, Jesus is not there and remember Jesus called himself son of man meaning he had a human father.

Whaaaat!!! Jesus was prominent throughout the Old Testament as the "Lord". When God walked alongside men, just as a man, that was Jesus. The prophets spoke of Jesus. Jesus was right there from creation. It has nothing to do with David. David was not the Christ or a Christ (anointed). There are many stories throughout the OT that FORETELL of Jesus. The OT foretold Jesus. Thats all!!!! For example, Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son, that represented God sacrificing Jesus. King David was told that his offspring would create a kingdom. David was not a Christ. But the Christ came from David. Please stop adding to the Word of God!!

#1 - If you're going to do a list of irresponsible typeology you should definitely include some of your own which you admit to being a stretch. #2 - Seems odd but not surprising that you do not include David being anointed king at Age 30 and Christ being anointed through baptism at Age 30. #3 - The reason you fall short is because Rev 5 shows that only the Root of David aka the Lamb aka 2nd coming Christ will unseal the scroll (the bible). #4 - Jn 5:39 - The reason Mike Winger is a Type of Pharisee.
