The #ncaatrackandfield first round regionals are over. And some of the fastest #100meter times during the #trackandfield season took place from college sprinters whom nobody pays much attention to.

And how has that worked for them in his 7 years of “coaching” there? He hasn’t personally coached athletes since he’s been there. He’s a head coach aka an administrator not a hands on coach. Even when he was an assistant under Leroy, he didn’t coach, he was a recruiting tool.
@skillissue3574

@@Hengel_Andrews Why so aggressive. I wasn't saying that was why they are good however he is still the head coach and is wonderful for recruiting as it is a big part regardless. That's a big reason all those schools are so good anyway. I think you need to step away if you are being rude to someone who gave background info on some school that did well this year.

@michaelbarnes2142 If recruiters can travel abroad to recruit there they could try to be a bit better at looking for potential here and at less expense. It is no secret that the 1%ers are very happy to allow our country to deteriorate. That's indicated by the fact that they frequently do not bother to invest here except on an elite level. A mind's creativity and a body's potential are terrible things to waste.

It’s a flaw in your system... Linford Christie didn’t go to college lol neither did he receive lottery funding! He was a winner because he had to do it all by himself - and that breeds hunger, determination, hard as nails character! Linford is a legend - no British sprinter has come close since, despite having far more opportunity and funding! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Great analysis coach Rob! I started paying attention to Louie H after he took down Masuanganyi at the Penns Relays. Looks like he’s one of those late bloomers like PJ Iye-Izamu. The interesting but sad thing is that come next season, a lot of these overlooked guys will trade in their current colors - that took a chance on them, for one of the powerhouses that overlooked them… Sad!!!

@moo429 Louie has already been there done that. Washington State took the chance on him and imported him from Merry Old England only to have Lewis and Houston gobble him up in his second season here. Would he have improved in WSU's open arms? Maybe but Houston has better competition for him to go up against and that better competition is both on their team and on their schedule.

Why do people say "he was never supposed to be this fast"? TF kind of sense does that make? If he's at a college on a ride running track HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE THAT FAST. Dude has insane turnover and top-end. Great addition to the insanely stacked Team USA.

@TheGreatness-gg1jx If you are referring to Hinchliffe, he's from England and has been asked to participate in their Olympic Trials this June in Manchester which he plans to do. He was a freshman at Washington State last year and Huston pirated him from there.

It's interesting that in the US Collegiate Championships for the East and West Regionals the winners included a South African, a Canadian, three Nigerians and a Brit. Yet they all seem to be of African or of mostly African descent except for one, Louie Hinchliffe, the Brit. It is unclear what combination of nationalities he descends from but it appears he is mostly of Asian descent. However, the amazing thing is that instead of developing US talent, many colleges are recruiting proven competitors from abroad. This is sad for us as we are giving scholarships to and training the guys who might be beating us as soon as in the Paris Olympics. At the same time our own may be being deprived of the chance to develop. Hinchliffe, for example, shows he has improved tremendously since being here. He admits that "he did not even make the podium of the British University Championships while at Lancaster. ‘I was just a regular student, doing first year student things!’" Maybe a lot of our talented youngsters are going in to other sports like basketball and football. Or maybe some of them are potentially great but are just plain being neglected by our recruiter.
