Great video. I love Multi tools & have over 30 Leatherman's, Gerber's, Victorinox's, & a couple of SOG's, but this SOG PowerPint is my favorite. Small enough to be barely noticeable & a true EDC, but bigger than key-chain tools & is big enough to be actually usable & useful. It truly is a brilliant tool.
I have the black oxide looking one. My favorite multitool so far I own a wave+, surge and the sog flash mt I prefer my powerpint out of all of those. Its perfect for my edc and it is such a convenience as i am an arcade technician.
I don't know I can give sogs multipliers another chance. I had an older poweraccess. The biggest one they had. Yeah I snapped the Compound leverage. Yes my pair is before they put the secondary plate on. But they said it was normal wear and tear and wouldn't help me out. Just gave me a discount code. Hmm normal wear and tear when your plier head snapped off the handles on one side. Yeah I don't see how
While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal ru-vid.comUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal. There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.
Great video! I have had my PowerPint for a year now and it has come in handy to often. In my opinion this tool is not perfect but is damn near. The file, scissors and hook certainly need some revision. Never the less they some what function ok. I have modified my powerpint by grinding the top of bottle opener in to a flat head, turn the file tip in to a chisel and re profiled it and re-hardened it and sharpened the hook so it’s usable. Over all it’s a solid little companion.
Great little tool as an EDC in the urban environment with its relatively small and low profile straight edge blade. And more importantly it came with a pair of scissors and full size bit driver!
I've been looking everywhere, for a few months, for a multi tool that's smaller than a wave but bigger than a squirt and this is the one that I keep coming back to. I think its time for me to pull the trigger. Thanks for another great review.
Thanks for watching. I think this is a great option. The Leatherman Mini as I mentioned before is a minimalist option and the Leatherman juice and Leap used to be good options, unfortunately no longer made.
SOG does nice work, small to medium, imo. I adore the tools with their steam punk kind of look, the nice industrial feel, the weight of the tools tend to be substantial without feeling bulky. As time goes on and i learn more and more about these tools I begin to really appreciate Sog. The medium size has the bit hole and a separate bit driver... I like the redundency here... I can elect to use the nice locking philips, or I can drive their own bits, sockets, ratchets... you name it! I find myself reaching more and more for my SOG and it compliments kits that need a decent driver.
Great tool. Would like it if you could change out some of the implements. I reshaped the end of saw to have a larger screw driver. Scissors are a bit whimpy. Still a great one for sure.
i sharpened the can opener, tighten the opening system of the pliers and the straight blade half. hurt my finger while doing it cause i was very tired. but now i can replace my Surge(s) and concealed carry it.
Just picked one of these up in 2023. It's a solidly okay tool, but if the pull cutter were actually sharp and the scissors were better it would be a great tool.
Hello, I also ordered them, I just wanted to check if their assembly is correct and how do you think about it, when I open them to an open shape, that is, holding the handles, the allowances of the placement leans slightly to the right, not in an extreme way, the thickness of the nail is normal, what do you says about it
I carry it's sibling, the Power Liter, every day. Great, very handy size and weight for an EDC multitool. If I didn't also carry a dedicated pocket knife I probably would have picked up the Power Pint instead.
Always found the 3 inch mark the Goldilocks size for my general day to day use. Not doing super hard work, so a big lug isnt really worth it, but its a respectable enough size you can still do things instead of the more fine work 1-2 inch multi tools.
Why everyone thought the locking plate (black) is made of plastic?? I added a 8mm, 1mm (thick) with glue and it works very well to keep the plier close with suitable force.
I have this tool, and I love its design and innovation. I’m a little salty re: it’s poor execution/cq and inasmuch I have modified mine in several ways and IMO it’s come out a better tool which I NOW like quite a bit. This tool could’ve been amazing out of the box had they (SOG) put more care into it’s off-shore manufacture, but nonetheless due to the poor quality of this one I’m not prone to purchasing any other SOG brand products. Enjoy your videos.
I wish Leatherman still made the juice and added a pocket clip. I plan to find a used juice and compare the two. I may need a loan to buy the juice lol, they are so pricy!
If it had a no.2 phillips and a decent scissors ,it would be very useful. The inbuilt phillips is not viable - Had to carry a bit separately and then lost it altogether .
Have got very interested in that Sog Power liter with it's locking mechanism. Now you can keep a bit locked in when in pocket. Am also looking at that corkscrew - could that be modified and made into some form of bit holder like the Sog Reactor? Of course, I have ordered one and intend making a hybrid tool of the two 😁
I have a leatherman wave plus and I’m not using it for tough jobs and I’m also not a heavy user of it. Is it better to have a sog powerpint instead? Or should I keep both of them?😂
By the looks of your comments section i might be the only one who hates this multi tool. Ill start with my first thing i dont like about it. So the tools are on the out side but the unlock button is on the inside totally ok makes sense i think.... Not If you can make a video of geting the Phillips screwdriver the awe and what look to be the seatbelt cutter out without geting out the other tools to access these tool if you can do that good on you sir The scissors are blunt and painfull to use and dont even open that wide. Not sure why i have to open the multi tool to insert a bit to then close it even tho it has a magnet to keep it in place. The awe why would you make it that small but that wide. Now be honest when the hell did you use a bottel opener and tin opener on multitool once or twice maybe so to me waisted space. When has a Flat head screwdriver that small come in handy only for people who wear glasses and to do electrical work.... yh with a all metal multitool seems smart But the knife is good and the pliers are amazing but thats about it and for the price dont even get me started if you want somthing smal just get the dime Rant over sorry about that
Such a good multitool and one which really fills a gap in the market. Since LM discontinued the Juice line they don't make any real mid-size mts unless you count the Skeletool, and tbh I'm not all that impressed by the tools on the Juice. Gerber's mid size offerings like the Balance or Crucial are pretty poor and have a very limited toolset. I'd have bought a Powerpint long ago were it not for the fact that I'm in the UK and can't really EDC it due to the locking blade. Instead my mid-size EDC multitool is the much maligned SOG Micro Toolclip, it has it's limitations but it wasn't expensive and together with a Vic Farmer X is perfect for outings on my mountain bike, the pliers are much more capable than those on the Squirt and other keychain multitools which aren't really up to quick roadside repairs. If I go out on a longer bike trip combining camping and bushcraft I'll take my LM Rebar as then I'm carrying a fixed blade like a Mora anyway, we are permitted to carry locking & fixed blades if we have a valid reason such as a hobby or outdoor pursuit, and I make sure they're buried deep in my camping gear.
I wish Gerber made a smaller version of the NXT similar to the PowerPint. I think priced right it could do well. Gerber does have a tendency to make very bulky tools. I would be interested if you find any UK legal tools similar to the PowerPint.
@@hvacbudget8600 Well I'm sure there are a few from the far East, I think there's a Nextool Flagship Pro with a non-locking blade. But not from the big 3 US multitool manufacturers (LM, SOG, Gerber), or Victorinox. Sadly there don't seem to be any German or other European manufacturers of multitools. Even if there were, there are different rules in every European country. For example in Germany you can carry a locking blade, but not if it's one-handed opening. So a Rebar or Supertool is fine, but not a Wave or Surge. You can carry a non-locking one-handed opening blade, so a UKPK is fine there, but curiously not the German Army issue Victorinox (one-handed Trekker, or Soldier with different scales) so I guess there military personnel have to ensure they don't carry them off-duty. In the Czech Republic you can walk around with a fixed blade or even machete or axe on your belt. In the UK when it comes to quality multitools - apart from keychain ones like Squirt, Dime etc - we are so limited, I can literally count them on the fingers of one hand: Rebar knifeless, Bond, MP600 knifeless, and SOG Micro Toolclip. I've been looking into it for 2 years. I own 2 of them, the MP600 and Micro Toolclip. Plus a LM Rebar standard, which I take camping. However I'm pretty sure that it's easy to mod the Powerpint as it can be opened with a torx driver and we can buy spare/replacement sog tools, not sure if the 3'' saw would fit but i bet the bottle opener/flathead would. Or I've seen on reddit that a guy here removed the lock on the blades, not sure how. It's tempting as the Powerpint can be had here for as little as £40 ($52), which is cheaper than a LM Squirt or Rev here.
the tools are awful. its like sog said lets put the most minimal effort into the tools the size will sell it. this could have been the best edc mulitool instead it just made me aware of what i wish i could have but most likely never will. Terrible job sog.
11 survival kits! That's cool! I always feel like my survival kits need improved. I would love to find the perfect slimline survival wallet card that covered as many aspects as possible. I haven't found the perfect one yet.
@@hvacbudget8600 Ten of my kits are geocached. One stays with me all the time. Some of my equipment is 32 years old. Recently made 61 days out of one of the bags. Had a blast. Charles 🪖🇺🇸❤️
