Another important note, the Transistor was invented in 2066 in the Fallout timeline by none other than Robco industries hence why the Terminal and Pib-Boy were all Robco products made with aid of the newly invented transistor.

This make no sense. In actual fallout technology was identical to ours, until energy crisis strike.
@Hatypus
@Hatypus 2 месяца назад
Not sure there's ever actually been an exact mention on transistors invention date. Even amongst the devs (Both of the originals and the bethesda games) there's a lot of debate over if they were never invented, invented at the same time but never caught on as much, were invented much later and so were only just getting going when the bombs dropped... etc.
@TheRezro
@TheRezro 2 месяца назад
@@Hatypus There is a space shuttle in Fallout 2 and some experimental weapons known from the 90's. So it would be safe to assume that at least until 2000, world was unaltered. The decline later was direct result of resource shortages.

@@TheRezro That's just patently incorrect, the Americans literally get the first man in space for example. And the reorganisation of the US into 13 commonwealths is in the 60s too. And more besides.

@Bionickpunk Месяц назад
@@texdillinger6173 Nah, that's just dumb western stereotypes and grossly racist of you to think of. I mean Serbs are the ones who created both Yugoslavia's, without them, Croats and Slovenese would have be assimilated by the three larger countries after WW1, not even mentioning post WW2 Yugoslavia. In the Fallout timeline, communism/socialism and the Soviet Union continued onward, which means one of Yugoslavias largest economic and political support structures never fallen and the country survived it's late 80s economic crisis. If you actually learned Yugoslavia's history, you would know that tensions started due to economic problems and the fall of the iron curtain. Despite Yugoslavia being in non-aligned movement, it was still a socialist country. The fact that Soviet Union and USA were in good relations in the Fallout timeline means that Yugoslavia had a way better political position that the lopsided unipolar state it had in the 90s. If a more disfunctional Soviet Union continued, Yugoslavia definitely did.

I like to the think of the Divergence as a series of changes. Small changes throughout history that ultimately led to the Divergence we know of. The laws of physics being changed to allow lasers and plasma weapons to function, the Zetan abductions, the invention of brands like Vim and Sunset Sasparellia, and finally the major changes in 1945, with the enthusiastic adoption of atomic power, the transistor not being invented until the mid 21st century, the adoption of the Commonwealth system in 1969 etc. If you think about it like time travel and its effects, then the Divergence makes a little more sense but that’s just my opinion anyway
@rockmycd1319

Even shortly after WW2 you have the crashed B-52 from 1948, the collapsed bridge from 1968, and Nixon that shows that divergence is more of a ripple than a clean separation

The thing that messes up the Fallout setting is that it is supposed to take place hundreds of years after the nukes fell... and yet most of the writing is from the assumption that the war is only a generation old. You play a vault dweller who grew up in the vault, but the elders are written as if they knew the pre-nuke world. Everything in the "wasteland" is cobbled together improvised or scavenged as if people are just getting things back together. Food, landmarks and pre war manufactured buildings and items exist as if there has only been a couple of decades of neglect at most.

Yeah I hate that aspect of Fallout. It all falls apart when you see rubble/pieces of walls lying all around inside of a bar located in "major" city 200 years after the war. Like wtf? Long story short. Mexico continued, without cartels, much like our real world. Raul, voiced by Danny Trejo, details working at Petró-Chico, rodeos, and American media played over the TV and radio in Mexico. In real life, Mexico would help produce war time production and workers to American factories in the labor force vacuum created by able-bodied, military age men being drafted to war. After war, told by Raul, Mexico was no different than America with raiders and settlements happening. That and Mexico city being a massive bombed out radioactive crater.

China being able to successfully field troops there while the US strains logistics? No way. A counterinvasion from the GOBI DESERT!? Nuh uh. @@richardthomas9497 Fraggle Rock is a foundational piece of contemporary fantasy and a touchstone of a generation. One could even break up history into pre- and post-Fraggle Rock; abbreviated as BFR and AFR. It is no coincidence that some of humanity's greatest agreements and achievements, for example the Paris Agreement of 2015, the passage of the US Affordable Care Act of 2010, the launch of the James Webb Telescope; have all occurred in the AFR era, as a result of the influence of Fraggle philosophy. If not for Fraggle Rock, we may never have developed CRISPR or conquered AIDS or develop biotech that churns out medical miracles that used to take generations, now taking years. I don't know the Fallout universe well so after this video I do have a few questions: 1. The video mentioned having fusion powered cars and nuclear technology. If so why did they need oil so much? If you can power people's houses and cars with fusion/fission what are people missing so much that they feel the need to riot? 2. Why did the US keep the war going after winning in Alaska? If they're so worried about the number of people China has for the army, why keep suffering "massive" casualties in the Gobi Desert? 3. Why would the US and China go to nuclear war? How would MAD help China gets America's oil or be of any benefit to the US? What would motivate either side to be the first to push the button?

I'm not very well versed in Fallout lore but I'll try to give you the expIanations I can. 1. From what I remember, it was a general shortage of resources and not just oil and nuclear material. I always assumed there was also a lack or huge increase in cost of food and water but I'm not sure and the two things could be connected anyway. If you're running out of stuff to put in nuclear reactors and you can't rely on oil either, prices of everything will skyrocket. 2. Plot reasons, I guess. They thought they could do one last push and defeat China and take its resources, maybe? 3. Same as above. China didn't want to lose, I guess? The devs needed a reason for a world devastated by nuclear war and someone had to launch the nukes first.

As far as I remember the lore: 1. Not everything in Fallout universe is powered by fission. Although it was getting more and more widespread as oil was running out (the bulk of Fallout lore was written in 1990s, when the expectation of world's oil supply running out by 2020-2030s was in full swing). And if you have fission reactor in every toaster you'll need the metric shitton of Uranium, that is also was running out in Fallot universe. There were no wide spread fusion at the time of the WW3 starting... And this topic is actually a one of the main plotpoints in the new TV-series. (And obviously because lore writers needed to have a pretext for WW3 scenario) 2. Because war usually contimues untill both sides decide to end it or at least one side would have absolutely no power to continue. Initial invastion to China happened to break the almost decade-long stalemate on Ancorage front. Even after chinese evacuation from Alaska US couldn't just abandon mainland China front as without a peace (or at least cease fire) treaty it would only meant another invasion to alaska as soon as China would feel ready. (And obvoisly because lore writers needed to have a pretext for nuclear exchange scenario) 3. In the pre-series lore China hoped to strike first as swiftly, massively and decisively as they could in a gamble to "kill" US before they'd be able to retaliate (during the Fallout 2's finale, President of Enclave, recounting the history of "the Great War" mentioned that US was barely able to retaliate at the final moment). In the new TV-series it is revealed that Vault Tec was directly involved in the nuclear escalation either by launching nukes themselves or by provoking escalation by false flag operations or by any other means (And obvoisly because Fallout developers needed to have a nuklear post-apcalypse setting)

A very weird timeline if you consider the USSR is just "chilling". It seems to me, they just stagnated and is left alone while eventually collapsing within itself because for intents and pursposes, the USSR is a very corrupt country even in our own timeline.

Basically if the era of Brezhnev's stagnation continued on and Gorbachev's reforms didn't push through

@rbgerald2469 they were essentially bankrupt in OTL and were dependent on financial aid mainly from Western Europe to even get by and distribute food to their citizens. Before the hardliners coup against Gorbachev, he was negotiating for a huge aid package with West Germany just to fund the USSR for a few hundred days more.

so why we created the Transistor in our 1947 and begin to evolve computers. Fallout's 1947 ignored the Transistor and started using the power of the atom for everything interesting how 1 thing can change everything

Robots? How the hell do you do ANY of that without transistors? Miniaturized fusion power? Why in God's name would anyone get into a resource war for oil when you have that technology?
