I hope you found this video about how to become a teacher somewhat helpful.
Please make sure you do your own research on teacher training providers and degrees to see what's going to be the best for you. I only have a limited experience with certain course types so this list is not exhaustive.
Thank you for watching and any further questions leave them in the comments and I will do my best to answer them if I can.

Hi. I am also coming to the end of my Psychology undergraduate degree and I would like to teach sixth-form/a-level students. I am not so interested in teaching secondary school, but instead post-16 years. However, I have a few questions. Will the SCITT and PGCE you did allow you to teach sixth form? What about a QTS - will that allow you to teach sixth form years? I hope to hearing from you soon. Thank you!

I'm in year 8 and my dream is to become a drama teacher but this is all so confusing and intense....it's shocking knowing what these teachers have actually had to do to be able to make an impact on my life as big as they have. Thank you so much ma’am for this advice! I truly appreciate it!! I’m working on my math, English, science, history, and Spanish for my gcse as a year 11 student! Do you have any tips for me to prepare myself for taking the exams to get a A if I may ask ma’am? I’m going to get a degree in teaching most likely primary education! I’m going to get my pgse after my degree. It’s good to know what to expect! I’m going to have to learn about behavior management in the future and routines. I will take it seriously!!
@DisplayLady
@DisplayLady 4 года назад
Ryan Faulkner as you are training watch the teachers you are with look for subtle things they do for behaviour management as well as the big stuff. Where do they stand, do they stop talking, do they look at certain children? Lots of behaviour management stuff is subtle. :)
@ryanfaulkner9667
@ryanfaulkner9667 4 года назад
Display Lady thank you ma’am and I will do that! When I do training I’m going to look for that. For now as a high school student I’m going to continue to do really well and I’m going to try and learn some behavior management from my teachers so I’ll know more too!! If I may ask, when will I get to use the toilet as a teacher and when do you have to wait? I know as a student I have to go during mourning break and lunch as I stay hydrated! Sometimes I don’t get a long enough of a break at the end of the day to go so I’ll have to hold it for 2 hours until dismissal then I would ask my teacher if I may leave my belongings in her class while I use the loo at that time because that is when I really need it from waiting. My teacher understands and let’s me do that everyday of school!

Great vlog! Instantly clicked on it when I got the notification! :D What sort of assignments/ essays would you most likely expect on a PGCE? Would they be particularly long and demanding , i.e. 3000+ words etc? Most of the teachers I know regret getting into it. It can be an extremely stressful and nasty job, especially as you get higher up the ladder. My wife is a Head of school teacher, she's been doing it for 20 years. She has just handed in her notice, which I'm really pleased about. There isn't a month she doesn't get punched or kicked or spat on.

@@jameshudson395 She constantly got spat on or punched. It was in a primary school, they have to take lots of special needs children now, which they can't control or have room for. She was the head of a big school in London. She's left now tho thankfully. You also have to put up with a lot of scummy parents, that really shouldn't have had children in the first place. If you live out in the countryside or a really nice bit of upper middle class England, it might be ok tho.

@@TobNoach Where did I say she loved teaching? She hated. She obviously didn't sign up to be a teacher for the money 😂. So it's not the kids fault when they punch and spit at you? You're the problem with society. This country is so soft it's truly unbelievable. She did actually like teaching for the first 5 years, when she was just a class room teacher at a nice school. As the years have gone by, it's become a crap job with a high drop out rate. There are too many fairies, making excuses for badly behaved children and parents.
@keithchegwin1222
@keithchegwin1222 Месяц назад
@@TobNoach You certainly wouldn't pick teaching for the money 😂. When she was a classroom teacher at a good school she loved it, but then she started teaching nasty kids that spit and punch in East London. It truly amazes me how people like you think, you think the children that are causing all of this are the victims. Yes the children should certainly be held accountable for their actions in my book. So you think the children that are bullying other children and teachers shouldn't be blamed? Truly unbelievable 😂

Does it mean you can study Mathematics at uni and then still be able to teach like KS1 in all subjects? Like you studied English and can now teach Maths in KS1 and 2 I guess (and other like science etc)? I am asking because it is seem so different than in Poland where to teach Y0-Y3 (kind of like English KS1) you need a degree in Early Education and nothing else is acceptable, and than "KS2" and above you have seperate teachers for Maths, English, Science etc and you need a certain degree to teach these + teaching specialisation - in our "KS4" equvalent you need to have MA to teach even, BA is not enough.
@DisplayLady
@DisplayLady 4 года назад
Yes it’s not like that you have to have the specific degree for KS3 or high school but not for primary. You have to have a post graduate teaching qualification for example a PGCE or similar as well as your degree however. Does that make sense?
