I didn’t see any advice on how to obtain mapping clients. I thought that was what this episode was about.

seriously, I enjoyed the video but the question was never answered. The title turned into clickbait. How do I get mapping clients?

I saw in one of your last videos you went in to the law side like you briefly did at the end can't speak for other people and I'm not with USA I'm in the UK but when it comes law I'm fully interested especially as I know that all countries that steam from the Uk and common wealth have basically the same laws under different codes so anything you speak about will trickle down to the UK or vis versa so definitely keep that side of things coming thank you!!

Hey Guys! Thanks for airing my question, what a cool surprise! As a matter of fact I am currently on lesson 18 of your excellent mapping course. I won't be buying the M3E, instead I am selling my Mustang and going after a strong computer for processing, and getting some more batteries for my old P4P. The thing that is hardest to get my head around is: renting Pix4D Mapper for $400 p/month, or buying it outright for $5g, without knowing if the jobs will come. I guess that's a matter of faith. I am well-connected here in my community, and realize that some of the photo missions I've done (for example a marina), even though my photos and videos were well-received, a 3D map would have been a more compelling product to offer instead. I know a few construction companies, lots of apartment buildings going up around here, I am thinking they would be great practice cases. Anyhow, thanks again for featuring my question on this episode.

So is Global Mapper the tool we should be using for mapping and modeling?

What are the best places to find leads to bid on for construction site mapping services? I’ve been scouring the interwebs for weeks now. And can’t find much info. Thanks!

I own a M30T we use for SAR missions and our down time with unemployed Veterans we are trying to give them a career path with drones. Is the M30T a usable platform for mapping etc what you were talking about in this show? Detail would be appreciated so we don't provide bad information to our Vets here and mislead them. Many thanks.

Hello drone u , so if I join your guy's membership would I be able to watch all the classes about mapping from start to finish and learn it almost inside out from processing it as well etc? My main concern is that if I pay for a membership and get the bare minimum
@jerseyshoredroneservices225
The membership is month by month so you can use the first month to evaluate everything on the site which is extensive. There's no question that you'll get at least one month's worth of value from the first month fee. After that you can decide if it has the detail you want and continue, or cancel.

Yes, you can watch all the classes about mapping from start to finish once you pay for a month of membership. It's a great resource, flattens the initial learning curve on data acquisition, planning, and processing. I also did an in-person session, which covers much of the content available on their website, but in more detail, and found the hands on learning with flying, data processing, asking questions, was super great.

Wow that's great. Yeah I will definitely get into it because it seems like it's well worth the information! Cool thanks guys

What about someone who does not have any drone with a mechanical shutter at all - is the M3 Enterprise worth the investment right now? I was under the impression that you could use 3rd party software like Drone Deploy with the M3 E which is already in Beta, and thought orbits and POI was good to go too. I only have photography drones w/ electronic shutters right now, and I want to start mapping. Phantom 4 isn't really calling my name right now because it's discontinued.

Just fly under 10mph and use a fast shutter rate. No mechanical shutter required. You're welcome!

@@RevDrone that knocks out half of my year in North Idaho. It’s twilight at 3pm and a fast enough shutter doesn’t give me proper exposures. I could fly slower, but time is money.

There was literally not a single thing about how to acquire mapping clients. Just based on the conversation, shouldnt this video have been titled something like "You have no idea how to map and will probably fail at it"? Seems like a conspiracy to keep people out of the industry and increase your own bottom lines based on how you guys are talking.

Wrong! You can do POI and orbits with Mavic 3E.

I can't stress enough that it is not a good idea for non-licensed people to get involved in aerial mapping. I've been a Professional Engineer for 45 years and whenever I use my drones for mapping. I field verify the results. I've seen some really terrible errors in software processing. In CA, you must be licensed to practice Land Surveying (or CE prior to 1979) for a reason. It's not what you can learn in this profession, it's what you don't know that's dangerous to the public. I know you caution people about the pitfalls, but becoming a professional surveyor should be the first step in learning mapping.
@justafact-zx2eg
@justafact-zx2eg Год назад
I agree. To a point. I believe drone mapping with LiDar should be used in tandem with a licensed surveyor. A partnership is best. Why walk the whole 100 acres when 90 acres can be flown in an hour?
@JBS2018
@JBS2018 Год назад
Not everyone needs a survey grade map. Some people just want progress from overhead and could care less for centimeter accuracy. That does not require someone to be a surveyor. Your point is very silly. HOA's now are using drone mapping to keep track of violations. Golf courses want to be able to keep track of terrain and damage around all their holes. Do I need to be a surveyor to make an orthomosaic that has nothing to do with measurements? NO!
