It should be noted that many people have a highi sensitivity to gluten without actually having celiac disease. In these cases, people may present with the same symptoms as celiac disease when eating gluten, but will generally not have the kind of permanent damage to their GI tracts that celiac patients have. But they can still see considerable improvement by eliminating gluten from their diets.
My mom’s gastroenterologist said she is positive for celiac disease, but she doesn’t have the genetic markers. I too have cross contamination level sensitivity to gluten (brain fog, anxiety, acne, stomach troubles, shaking hands, etc as symptoms), but also tested negative for the genes. My doctors have chosen to treat me as if I have celiac disease.
I had a celiac panel done by a rheumatologist and also food sensitivity panel by a naturopathic dr and both came back positive so I'm gonna go ahead and assume I have celiac disease.
I have celiac disease. My dr gave me a blood test and it proved positive. I think I’ve had this disease since my early twenties and now I’m 69 and just found out not too long ago😮
You may have had it for many years or it may have been something new. There’s an interaction between genetics, environment, stress, and microbes. You may have had the genes that predispose you for celiac disease for years but your body was doing ok. An exposure to a microbe like viral or bacterial infection, stress, or environmental toxins may have turned these genes on and now the numbers are detectable on a blood test. I’ve had a patient test positive in his 60’s but he tested negative many times earlier in his life. Now that it’s confirmed that you have celiac, you must completely give up gluten and work on healing and repairing the gut lining (as well as addressing root causes)
I've been diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis which is more rare than celiac disease. I'm not allergic to the gluten protein, I'm allergic to the whole wheat plant. But it's just easier to say I eat gluten-free. Before I was diagnosed, I didn't know what was happening. And I started to vomit up more and more of my food to the point that I lost 30 lbs rapidly. What was happening was my esophagus was constantly swollen from eating wheat, to the point that I had trouble passing food of any kind. So under the care of a GI specialist, I went through the process of eliminating wheat for my diet. Eventually my endoscopy results showed that my esophagus was no longer inflamed. Now I'm able to occasionally eat small quantities of wheat, for instance eating soy sauce. Even though I try to avoid this, I can eat some things with package warnings of being processed in a facility with wheat. I'm also vegan, so I usually just do my own cooking so there's no problem.
@@NourZibdeh I am one of those people. I quit gluten before genetic testing and have the allele HLA DQA1:05 and I have Celiac Disease, Ankylosing Spondylitits, Degenertive Disk disease, Reyanuds, Psoriasis, Short Stature, had Fibromyalgia, Anemia and went 57 yrs, then had a TIA stroke and went gluten free on my own. Kept eating corn and rice though and other grains and didn't start healing til in my 60's when I went totally grain free. That was my best outcome. Also there are at least 7 or more genes connect to Celiac Disease, not just two. I am one of those. There is also HLA DQ7 and others. Read the book No Grain, No Pain by Dr. Peter Osborne, molecular Biologist. He has a clinic in Sugarland, Texas.
I went off gluten after months of suffering long term symptoms of Covid- mostly fatigue, nausea, headaches, body aches… after going off gluten it’s mostly under control. If I’m run down or don’t take care of myself my fatigue or headaches might come back short term until I rest and get back to myself. Do you think it can be ciliac? Or kee doing what I’m doing? I did get a blood test a little over a year ago which showed a positive ANA but I never went to a rheumatologist for further testing since for the most part this is working for me. Is that a mistake?
I work with people privately on food, supplements, and testing however I'm based in the US and the tests and products I use are not available in every country. You may reach out to discuss further as I have some international clients (nourzibdeh.com/contact-us/). For the meantime, I hope my videos help.
