How does a classical piano piece sound on an accordion? I played the same song on the piano and the accordion. See the difference between the arrangements! Be a Member! bit.ly/2Nlupas My Piano Course: lordmusicacade...
I think, that he plays these classical tunes on the accordion at too great a tempo. It makes them sound too "festive". A slower tempo would more than do them justice on the accordion. In fact some of them may actually be more appropriate for the orchestral sound that an accordion, like an organ, is more able to accomplish, than a piano. ...I know, because I played some of them, when I was inexperienced and had no choice but to play them slowly. I would like to hear him play them slowly, although, I realize, that isn't always so easy to adjust your tempo, when playing an accordian, due to the speed at which you operate the bellows affecting other aspects of the sound, such as amplitude and in some cases, can be difficult to not be somehow influenced by the rhythm. I suspect, that this virtuoso is up to the task!
Jokes aside, the accordion is a more capable instrument than is given credit here. Most pieces composed for any particular instrument tend to sound best on it. You need to entirely rearrange a piece to try to make it fit on the respective instrument - sometimes it's very hard to do. I play the piano, guitar, accordion, trumpet and flute, and have found that some pieces just don't suit certain instruments well by default.
As an accordion player I feel so offended by most oft the comments here, it is such a beautiful Instrument and if you play the right song in the right register (? Wie call it Register in german and I don't know how it is called in english) it can sound beautiful. Also, he he used the wrong register(?) for most oft Thema Songs he was always using the same one, and thats a total No-Go
You picked up on the fact that this guy basically changed other aspects to make the music sound more "accordiony". As a player I can tell you that there are much more thoughtful ways to play most of these pieces on the accordion that are both more respectful to the original character of the music and utilise the full capabilities of the instrument.
this is because the dude do not understand how to play accordion the real way! He sounds like a pianist who just took up an accordion and played. Accordion is another instrument and it takes time to play it well. Also, it can be difficult to take a piano piece and arrange it for accordion but some are good at it. This guy isn't!
What makes the accordion (both piano and button box) such a wonderful instrument is that it is light and portable, does not need to be plugged in, and produces great music in a variety of types -- Italian tarrantellas, Viennese waltzes, Polish and Czrech polkas, Irish lullabies, French street music, Argentinian tangos, Tex-Mex two-steps, and Russian, Gypsy and Yiddish folk songs, to mention just a few genres.
@@urielmenachem8986 I was going to say I agree with everything except the "light" part. It CAN be light depending on the size, but my full size 120-bass piano accordion is a solid 32lbs/14.5kg and the only way to make it light is if I had lots of helium balloons 😂 I wholeheartedly agree with everything else though. There is such a variety of timbre I can get out of mine. Mine has 3 bass registers (low, mid, high) and 4 treble registers (low, mid, mid, high), and I have 3 combinations of bass to choose from (low + mid; mid + high; low + mid + high) and 7 combinations of treble (low; mid; low + mid; mid + mid; low + high; high; low + mid + mid + high). The accordion is a cross between a harmonica on steroids and a handheld reed organ. With the bellows, you can control the volume dynamics exactly like a bow does for stringed instruments, which very much sets it apart from most all other keyboard instruments.
He was checking at Chopin's as well. He can easily play without looking as long as keys are within finger reach. In these two cases, he had to move arms, so it's understandable he looked to not miss.
Wait a minute I just thought something He has A painting of Mozart A costume of Mozart The skills of Mozart 6 pianos Instrument can play by their own This can only mean one thing... Mozart's ghost has haunted his house!
Oh, it does indeed. Most of them did in my opinion. Surprisingly though "Kalinka" sounded way less Russian on accordeon. I could barely recognise it and I am Russian. On piano it was very good anyway.
I have two issues with this video: first is that he speeds up every one of the songs, making them sounds different based on that alone, and the second is that he is always using the same button patterns on the left hand. Not all songs have to be played with that oscillating "fundamental note, chord, fundamental, chord" pattern. The accordion can sound as dramatic as a pipe organ (just much smaller) when played by a master (not me, btw, I am but a beginner).
I would love to hear your attempt. I had a lot more trouble with the balance between the hands on the accordion, not so much with the tune or rhythm on the left hand. I almost wanted him to forget having a left hand altogether.
@@ameramuthana8618 Ha ha , yes it's piece but I can get what he is saying. This guy can certainly play both the piano and accordion well but some videos on you tube of accordionists playing classical pieces are on a much higher level.
Why he speed up the songs? Because of the tone of accordion, it need to be faster a little bit . And why he play the same buttons pattern? Because of "Rhythm", is not like at the piano while your left hand ("melody") move all around on the keys . On accordion you can play easily 1-2 or on octaves, and beside that you don't need "superior" things on accordion you just play it for fun
You're using a very "wet" register setting on the accordion which doesn't work for all those melodies. Also, a "free-bass" accordion would let you do more with the left hand. Fun video though.
Can you do the reverse please. Play pieces that was composed for an accordion, on an accordion and on a piano? I liked Kalinka better on the accordion.
Agreed. The accordion is a more capable instrument than is given credit here. Most pieces composed for any particular instrument tend to sound best on it.
Maybe that's because Kalinka wasn't composed for piano but rather orchestra with vocals? Seriously, search up Red Army Choir Kalinka. I guess it will make sense then.
I love the accordion parts! I used to play accordion for 5 1/2 years but didn’t carry on and now all the great memories are coming up. Really enjoyed it!
From a Gary Larson "Far Side" cartoon: An angel greeting the blessed: "Welcome to Heaven. Here's your harp." A devil greeting the damned: "Welcome to Hell. Here's your accordion."
@@mmyr8ado.360 Although yes those songs are now associated with tetris. But in the late 80's when it was being Exported to arcades and other video game consoles/computers Kalinka was used in some of the Arcade versions.
The songs on the Piano sound either dreary: Like a rainy day in London. A wife writes her husband that's away in the great war. A single tear gathers at her eye as the quill frantically scrapes across the parchment. Or: A fancy dinner party takes place in a colonial style house. Large foyer, powdered wigs, delicate crystal glasses cling together as the butler modestly serves everyone. The accordion: Either an Italian soap opera , or a bunch of Dutch people at a beer hall...
Vinheteiro is both highly talented and enjoyable in these videos. I do wish he would have demonstrated (maybe in another video?) the various registers the accordion can play - it is such a versatile instrument.
Every time he plays it on the accordion, it suddenly sounds like French cafe music.

Dois instrumentos fantásticos, adoro o som do Accordeon, sinto pra quem toca que a vibração do instrumento contra o corpo deve ser algo fascinante. Parabéns Ricardo Beccari
mmmmmm ...behind the facade...a formidable musician ! This guy can play !!! I play the accordion, and its not a easy instrument to play. Give this guy Respect !!
I guess the only difference I hear is the noise of all those irish leprechauns dancing in my head to the tune of whatever he plays on his accordion. Am I the only one?
@@kevyn47 Same thing I was thinking, Only english speaking countries do not have accordion on their music. Here in Mexico we also have many songs with accordion like 'Polka Triple X' and 'Picame Tarantula'.
Accordion makes even the saddest songs sound cheerful. Accordion is like that mate of yours who is always happy and full of life. If you're having a bad just listen to an accordion.
I love the sound of both piano and accordion ..........I listen each according to the needs of my soul at a given time. Both are are nourishing to the soul, the heart and mind.
Totally, I commentated on that too, but I think it was taken down because it was too negative. He is a great pianist though. The way he is playing these are not fitting though, these songs are actually really nice played on accordion when they are on the correct reed and style.
Please play themes of the Wild West. I can suggest some: The Good The Bad and The Ugly For a Few Dollars More A Fistful of Dollars The Ecstacy of Gold The Trio Once Upon a Time in the West My name is Nobody Please like so that Vinheteiro can see this and play these themes on the Piano Edit: Someone suggested these: For a Few Dollars More final duel Man with a Harmonica Please play these themes on the Piano and upload a video of the same
Photocoπ kinda I’m actually a bigger fan of Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef and the Dollar Trilogy And an even bigger fan of their themes and the legend Ennio Morricone
