Why does anxiety affect sleep? When you’re anxious it encourages you to worry and creates prolonged periods of negative stress, so your brain begins to actually lose access to your natural resting state, keeping you in a heightened state of flight of fight and it becomes difficult to fully relax, rest and sleep deeply at night.
Is it possible to stop anxiety taking over and start sleeping again? In this video, I’m going to explain what anxiety is, why anxiety affects your sleep and what you can do to start sleeping better and I’ll be touching on what research shows us helps reduce anxiety which can leads to more positive thoughts and behaviours, breaking the that cycle of anxiety and dread helping you to improve sleep.
In my clinical practice, we combine solution focused talking therapy with hypnosis to help clients overcome many emotional and physical struggles which are caused by or made worse by anxiety or stress including insomnia and sleep issues. It’s a powerful combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis which means change can happen in a relatively short period of time.
