It’s clear that Reva spends time on the HoloNet reading WookieLeaks. That’s how she knows so much.

My two cents - Reva's clearly one of the kids in the opening scene of episode 1. My bet is that, while escaping the massacre at the temple, she caught a glimpse of CGI de-aged Anakin killing Jedi, and one of the clone troopers adressed him as "Lord Vader". She probably then put one and two together, but kept it for herself to avoid becoming aliven't, however because of her ambition of capturing Obi-Wan and her overall recklessness, she used this piece of information to get him all emotionally worked up in order to weaken his resolve. Doubt there'll be any retcon of canon material in regards to Vader killing anyone who knew he was Anakin.

Reva has made one fatal mistake. She tried to/succeeded in killing the one person she could pass the blame onto in case this plan goes anymore south. And as Vader has shown time and time again he hates when others "fail him" one too many times

Knowing the incompetence of Star Wars under Disney, there is a huge possibility they didn't put a lot of thought into who knew Anakin and thought Reva knowing who Vader was would make her seem more a of a powerful and threatening villain.

My theory is that she knows so much because she has been plotting to overthrow Vader and replace him as the Emperor’s apprentice. The other inquisitors behave like a military unit, and somewhat still like the Jedi they used to be. Reva behaves like a Sith. Also, the Grand Inquisitor still acts like a temple guard in the way he talks and carries himself. I don’t think he’s fully committed himself to the dark side by this point, and this injury is what pushes him fully over the edge.

I have a theory why Obi Wan didn't know Darth Vader was alive. When Imperial released Darth Vader on the holonet as the Emperor's right hand man, rumours spread Darth Vader is a machine. Obi Wan took it as the Emperor is using a Droid as a deceit to scare people in thinking there is this ultimate living Sith weapon that survived many impossible situations.

So for me, I think the reason why Reva knows that Anakin and Vader are the same was because she was one of the children in that Order 66 scene that were trying to escape from the temple AND she saw Anakin killing the other Jedi. That and connecting the dots with Vader who "appeared out of nowhere" soon after, it was logical in that sense for her. That's the only reason why I would assume why she's obsessed with finding Obi-Wan because with how obviously fucked up Anakin became (Turning into Vader), she would naturally assume that the highest favor she can gain (while keeping it all a secret to herself that she knows who Vader really is) by bringing Obi-Wan to Vader and not simply because Obi-Wan is a surviving member of the council.

Survived the slaughter at the Temple, sees Anakin killing Jedi, overhears Clones (possibly Palpatine) calling Anakin Vader and flees. Tries to keep her head down but ends up falling to the "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" dark side. Willingly gives herself up to the Empire, becomes an inquisitor and a couple of years later, puts the pieces together.

I'm betting that either they de-canonized Vader killing everyone that finds out, or she's got some kind of mind reading or precognition ability.

Reva was able to read obi wan when he reacted in fear to Vader being mentioned. She has abilities to probe and read her quarry's thoughts and feeling seen when she probed Hala's mind. So by reading Kenobi's feelings, she deduced Vader was Anakin Skywalker

I think she saw Anakin during the attack at the temple. Remember inquisitors are Jedi turned bad. It would explain a lot including her hate towards Obi-Wan. I bet when Anakin got to her and a few other survivors that he trained as Inquisitors he fed them all sorts of lies. Or truths. Depending on point of view.

I asked myself the same question. 1 almost no one knows that Vader is Anakin Skywalker. 2. How did she know that Obi-Wan didn't know that Vader was alive, etc. There are a bunch of questions of how she knew so many secrets about Anakin/Vader the relationship between him and Obi-Wan that Obi-Wan wasn't the same jedi he used to be that he isn't powerful etc. So many questions this episode brings up.

My theory is that Reva is the closest thing Vader had to a secret apprentice in canon. Think about it, its the way of the sith, to take your own apprentice and overthrow your master. Sidious wouldnt let vader adopt an official apprentice for this reason, and hed know. vader knows hed know, so what did he do? he hid her in the one authorized force user organization in the galaxy, one that he happened to be in charge of, the Inquisitorius. all the other inquisitors are called by their number and then brother or sister, but while she does have one, she goes by a real name. a name that sounds very inspired by a very famous ancient sith. by this point Vader would know about Revan, and he probably would have felt slightly mirrored in him given that Reven had a similar level of confliction. it makes sense to give his true apprentice a name inspired by a legendary sith he associated himself with. and of course his own apprentice would know more about him than the average person (just as vader knows more of palpatine than the average person), and even feel the personal need to deliver "justice" to the man responsible for scarring her master. Because of how canon went, i dont think she'll make it far, but i think shes make it out of Kenobi. i figure she'll die before the rebels era, but theres up to around 4 years of stories involving her that could be told. shes probably gonna either get her own miniseries or spin off movie about it, and i think that will end with palpatine killing her or making Vader kill her.

Most beings in the galaxy probably did not know Luke Skywalker could use the Force. He was just a highly skilled pilot. Remember when that X-Wing showed at the end of The Mandalorian season two? Why do you think no one got excited? Moff Gideon seemed to know about Luke Skywalker being a Jedi. But, no one else in the room seemed to know.

She most likely knows Vader is Anakin due to being in the Jedi temple during order 66. She probably overheard clones call him Vader while escaping. Anakin was a big deal so she would had recognised him.

the grand inquisitors weight loss would actually make a little sense. his species has two stomachs, so if he were to lose use of one of his stomachs (say, because of a lightsaber wound) he would lose weight obviously

These Dark Side Imperials knew a lot. When Vader landed his forces on Hoth, Mara Jade knew that Luke Skywalker was Vader's son, and she was desperately hoping that Vader would jump ship to the rebel side so that she can replace Vader at the Emperor's side.

I suspect many people at the top of the Imperial hierarchy knew Vader was a former Jedi. It just was not common knowledge to the public. Grand Moff Tarkin knew Vader was Anakin. Remember, Vader told Tarkin about sensing his old master on the Death Star. Thrawn knew the truth, too. I think we have all figured out Reva was the first youngling we saw in the Jedi Temple. The same youngling later said, “We run.” I assume that this group managed to escape the Jedi Temple, but only to hear Obi-Wan Kenobi’s voice on the Temple beacon telling Jedi not to return to the Temple. Flee. When Reva was talking about Jedi to the gathered people she said, “The Jedi abandoned you.” From the youngling’s point of view, Obi-Wan abandoned them to live as beggars in the streets of Coruscant.

She knows because shes stunning and brave

The Kenobi scenes were the only scenes I found myself not rolling my eyes at. There’s only three people who knew Vader was Anakin and lived, Palpatine, Tarkin and Thrawn. Vader would yeet anyone who found out who he used to be without a second thought. The fact that Reva knows, let alone told Kenobi was B.S.

Either she’s Vader’s favorite/possible apprentice, or she read his mind and figured it out. Those are my theories on her. I don’t necessarily hate her. She’s an early main antagonist to Obi-Wan and is doing an ok job. I do hope they develop her more without taking away from Kenobi’s character and better explain why she is the way she is throughout the story. She could potentially be a great character.

Yeah, that little revelation threw me off a bit. My theory is that Reva used Mind Probe accidentally when she was near Vader at one time and kept this information to herself.

Most fans I know don't hate Reva, she's a terrifying and well performed Sith. There's always going to be people upset, that's the nature of the Star Wars fandom. I for one am also excited to learn more.

Thing is, the Grand Inquisitor was a Temple Guard, now he could of been on a day off, sightseeing around the local bars. However I feel it more than likely he was there to let them in, and gave dear old Ani the keys to the door. So of course he would know who Vader was as Ani wasn't masked up back then.

I am more interested to understand how Obi Wan DIDN'T know Vader was still alive. IT has been 10 years. He knows about the Inquisitors. Vader is pretty important in the Empire. He KNEW who Vader was because he watched the HOLO with Yoda in the Temple. So how did he NOT know that Anakin survived?

That got me when I saw the episode. “How does she know and she’s not dead?” Literally thought of that comic panel.

I don't understand why this is so hard for people understand along with peoples hate for Reva so much. This take needs to be blown up.

Or Reva is one of the younglings that we see at the start of the series, and while escaping from the Temple, she sees/hears the clones refer to Anakin as Lord Vader, and she recognizes him as Anakin Skywalker from her time at the Temple. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

I am actually kinda hoping we'll get a scene where Vader just kills Reva for knowing his name, just as she got Obi-Wan cornered for example. Give us ruthless Vader! 🔥

There is also another potential explanation that Overlord DVD had; she's a redesign of Mara Jade, who hated Luke fanatically post ROTJ thanks to the Emperor's influence. As for how she knows who Vader is (and is still alive), well, that's just KK's bad writing shining through again. I mean, it's like the writers went out of their way to make this character completely unlikable from the start, loud to the point of being obnoxious and ridiculous. Her hatred of Obi-wan makes no sense. Three other things that make zero sense was Laia's appearance, Obi-wan almost failing his mission to protect Luke, and Obi-wan's fear of Reva. Laia's appearance doesn't make sense as it breaks canon (unless she gets her mind wiped somehow) since in episode four she says "years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars." not "Years ago you served my father in the clone wars, and 10 years ago you helped me." And Bail turned to Obi-wan? He should have either handled it himself or turned to Ahsoka. Obi-wan also _almost_ let Owen, Brue and possibly Luke die, so he almost failed in his one duty to protect Luke. As for Obi-wan's fear of Reva, sure, he might be having flashbacks to the clone-wars, but this is the guy who beat Maul, Vader and Grievous, in two of the three cases, multiple times. He should have been able to _destroy_ Reva, no matter what issues he was dealing with. Yet another example of KK's misandry showing through. THey're going to do to Obi-wan what they did to Boba fett, it will end up being the Reva show, detailing her 'redemption' and subsequent death and the hands of Vader.

It's so obvious that Reva caught kenobi in the moment and read his mind, it's a like a clear recreation of that iconic scene in ROTJ. Or she heard one of the clones call Anakin "Lord Vader" in the temple.

I like your theory very much because it gives reason to a (at this point) quite convoluted start of the series. The question I ask is: Did the authors as well flesh the background out as good as you imagined here or was it just lazy writing on their part and the series will fall apart as well again? I have a hard time remaining optimistic after what they have done to the Disney Star Wars trilogy, Solo - a Star Wars movie and Book of Boba Fett. But maybe they will finally start to surprise me.

My question is how is this the first time in Ten years has kenobi learned about Anakin. Either he never heard a hint of Vader, never though Vader was Anakin despite seeing it happen. Or he been half assing the job of keeping Luke safe by not keeping tabs on what’s been happening in the empire.

Thanks Allan for making sure not to spoil anything in your thumbnails. I have watched both episodes, but not everyone has. I have already seen one YT channel spoiling an important plot point regarding the Grand Inquisitor late in episode two in one of their video thumbnail and title. Ironically, they warn viewers at the beginning of the same video that they will reveal spoilers from both episodes.

Its weird that reva knows who Vader is. But its far weirder that obi wan doesn't know about Vader. He knows that name from events in RotS. Yes, he has literally been living under a rock for 10 years, but there is no way he hasn't heard of Palpatine's crazy attack dog in that time. News of the galaxy would still reach him during his daily work commute.

It’s funny how every Inquisitor we’ve met before has strangely colored skin, markings and other disfigurement implying they went through something hellish to be an Inquisitor except bestest evar Reeeva, who is still unmarked with perfectly coifed hair. I don’t think any of the others even had hair.

Reva was a youngling, front and center in the order 66 clip at the beginning of the show. Everybody saw that. She KNEW Anakin. All of the younglings new Anakin. "Master Skywalker, what do we do?" The kids recognized Anakin when he came to the temple and slaughtered them. If the inquisitors were trained by Vader, any of them who knew Anakin would sense it was him.

This is the thing I hate about fandom. They want answers right away, or they get mad because they don't understand. They're not willing to wait a few episodes for proper character development to occur so they can learn, and for answers to be given to them as the story progresses. As a writer, finding that perfect balance of how much information to give and when is EXTREMELY difficult. An entire muliti-hundred page story can succeed or die in potentially one paragraph. But then when the writers do what the fans want and give them answers right away, the fandom is angry because they were given everything right off the bat. People in fandoms suck, because they're going to be angry no matter what the writers do to please them. Take your time creating a good story = get hate for making them practice patience. Give instant gratification = get hate for not giving them a journey to earn it. It's frustrating as hell. To everyone who's angry about not getting answers now, and then angry when you do get answers soon, go away. The problem is with you. Not the writing.

The Rule Of Two only covers actual Apprentices, right? So as long as Reva doesn't formally become Vader's Apprentice, Palpatine can't say "Thats not how we do things" or words to that effect. :) If memory serves, Palpatine started grooming potential apprentices before the death of his Master. Maybe this is Vader doing the same?

Reva is psychic. There was a storm trooper who knew who Vader was as well. Vader respected him. He survived.

I have two theories on how she knows. First theory, she was a youngling kidnapped by a pre-suit Vader and recognized him as Anakin Skywalker. Second theory, when she was taunting Obi Wan, she senses Obi Wan knows Anakin is Darth Vader, similar to how Vader read Luke's mind and found out about Leia being as his sister.

So my theory is that, she obviously sensed that Obiwan didn’t know Vader was alive…. So when she said Vader and Obiwan thought of Anakin, she just sensed he was thinking of Anakin when she says Vader.

That’s a great theory and it makes a lot of sense. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series and I’m sure they’ll flesh out Reva’s character more.

If the acting and dialog/directing was a bit smoother and the writing was more subtle we wouldn't have as many issues with this

She told us how she knows. It's not the first time they've hid an answer in plain sight. She says she found a link between Bail Organa and ObiWan. Peoiple comeing up from the gutter are known to try hsrder, sometimes by being harder at study. If she found the link then she got into old records. If she saw the security recording of Vader being named by Palps then that's all she needs

She might also have been sent out by Vader *just to hunt and take out Kenobi*, and was informed about Vader's identity to use as some kind of incentive for Kenobi to do something rash.

I honestly just assumed that she can read minds. I mean, she did do that to the fake Jedi, right? To find out where Obi-Wan and Leia went. There’s another inquisitor that can read exact emotions and feelings towards something, so thoughts isn’t THAT insane. It would also explain why they keep her around despite how reckless she is.

I like how it was done in the old legacy stories. Obi-wan originally learned about Anakin being Vader when at a bar on Tatooine. There was a TV reporting on the empire's assault on Kashike and Vader made his first appearance there. Vader was brutally efficient and slaughtered the resistance there in a manner so effective that this battle ALONE made him known throughout the galaxy. Obi-wan recognized the style Vader was using and for the first time (and likely the last for years) he reached out to the force to feel for Anikin's presence in the force in hopes of finding nothing (meaning he was dead like he hoped). Instead, he found a cold dark presence that struck fear into his heart. It was at this point Obi-wan knew his failure as a master was complete, and now, his failure would end up killing thousands, as his apprentice still lived.

Her localized American accent and delivery really breaks the immersion for me.... (Although i wonder if, a British viewer, has the same issues with the Grand Inquisitor or most all of the Lucas era Imperials)

I think it's clear she wants to gain Vader's favor, but knowing him as Anakin makes about as much sense as the Organas immediately calling Obi-wan when Leia gets kidnapped instead of hiring people specifically in the field of finding people. One call to the Bounty Hunters' Guild and Reva's plan would've been ruined. What, she kidnapped the kids of every other senator or dignitary that Kenobi had a passing relationship with until someone finally called him?

Reva is a racially diverse female character who is currently genderless as she hasn't revealed his/her/their pronouns... Of course she knows everything and is better/smarter/stronger than decades-established multidimensional interesting characters of the franchise... Who needs them when you can have a one dimensional angry diverse character that yells and screams and is the bestest ever!!! How could you not see this? Has the Darkside blinded your vision?

I think vader took more of a liking into her, and trained her specifically, and tasked her to find obi-wan, also give her more experience in hunting jedi with other inqusitors to teach her to work with others.

I just finished watching Kenobi for the fourth time and I think the answer is staring us all in the face: Reva was clearly sensing Kenobi's thoughts and feelings, and when she mentioned Lord Vader, she recognized his shock and dismay. Kenobi likely thinking "Anakin is alive..." and Reva realizes it too. And if this theory is wrong, it's absolutely because she survived Order 66 and witnessed Anakin in the Jedi Temple killing their peers.

Could be as simple as she knows Darth Vader, and when she mentions him to Kenobi, she can sense his emotional response through The Force. The whole "Your thoughts betray you" shtick from the original trilogy.

I'm going to be honest. But the entire two episodes she was really bugging me. Trying to hard to be intimidating. Her character constantly interfering. Parkourin for no good reason. Stabbing and replacing the grand inquisitor. And finally she HAD to be the one to tell Obiwan about Anakin.... she's un the running to surpass Rey, Rose, Holdo and Finn for most annoying Star Wars character ever.

Reva did not fully know who Vader was until that scene with Obi-Wan, it’s so obvious. Sure, maybe she saw Anakin in the temple, but she had no clear way of knowing he was Vader. Perhaps she did suspect it though after feeling the presence of both Anakin at the temple and Vader afterwards. She was using the dark side of the Force alongside Obi-Wan’s fear to probe his mind and know what he was thinking about at that moment. Hence the line “I can feel you Obi-Wan; your fear betrays you”. Also, it’s shown throughout the first two episodes that Obi-Wan has lost a lot of his affinity with the Force, or at least decided to somewhat abandon it (he hasn’t attempted to use Jedi mind-tricks, hasn’t used any force-powered movements (force jump, force pull etc) and barely managed to save Leia by breaking her landing with the Force), so it’s not hard for Reva to get into his mind. As soon as Reva mentioned taking him back to Vader, we see Obi-Wan’s face begin to look downright terrified as he remembered the name Vader and who it was attached to - Anakin. Obviously, Reva could feel that Obi-Wan was thinking about Anakin, which is why she went on to confirm his fear and tell him that he did indeed survive their duel on Mustafar and is out for revenge. How did the vast majority of people not come to this blatantly obvious conclusion? Is no one capable of seeing context clues, paying attention to dialogue and character expressions?

Simple, Disney’s thin plot writing ability requires reva to be the “bestest ever”. Stop covering for the piss poor writing. Why on earth would Reva know this?

Actually a FANTASTIC theory that I would have never even considered. Especially when you consider the fact that she said at Celebration that her character “aims to please” when in the first two episodes it didn’t seem like she was pleasing anybody so it being for Vader seems even more likely. She at one point said that she spent a long time searching the jedi archives, that's how she knew to kidnap Leia. I see more of a problem with the later part than that she knew that Anakin was Vader

I like this theory. Anakin probably would favor a bottom-up Inquisitor, and perhaps sought an ally in his inevitable fight against Palpatine. Providing Reva with more specific information would give her an advantage that might eventually pay big dividends for Vader. So it nicely explains how this person we’ve never seen has somehow gotten past the standing “never speak the Dark Lord’s name” rule. In any event, it’s at least A theory, so I’ll take it.

From the moment Vader realized he had no chance of overthrowing Palpatine on his own he began scouting out potential apprentices to assist him in that goal. He tried it with Galen Marek A.K.A. "Starkiller" in Force Unleashed, he seemed to be trying to offer Ashoka the position in Rebels, and of course more famously once he learned the truth about Luke being his son he spent the last several years of his life trying to convince him to "rule the galaxy as father and son!" So I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out Reva was one of Vader's earlier potential apprentices (though I'm predicted she'll probably be killed in the last episode of the series, either by Obi Wan or by Vader himself for not living up to expectations.)
