@@Pocoentertainmentstudiothat also explains why when he's carrying people (like Lois) they're not shown as being lifted like in the real world. Holding up a person solely by holding one part of their body would have the rest of their body dangling.
He absorbs the suns rays, making him like the sun creating his own gravitational field. He uses his gravitational field to push against the earths gravitational field to cause flight
"Making him like the sun" has to be the most perfect description of this I've seen about Superman's powers, his ability to fly and how he's making, like the sun, his own gravitational field. Great comment.
My favorite Superman flight scene is cavils Superman first flight. It shows him really figuring out what he can do with his flight , and then at the end he just lets lose and cracks the sound Barrier through the atmosphere and into space in like .0001 seconds lol
Sure in real life, but your answer isnt the answer people are looking for, this answer youve given is common sense and all people who read comics and fantasy based novel and etc, know this. People just want in universe answers@@kroneexe
I’m like 99% sure this was also addressed in the Smallville Season 11 comics, which landed on the whole gravitational field/molecular displacement explanation
@blacky8987 I mean, for me, a movie is like a ride.. I just enjoy it or not... I wouldn't think too much about how something works in fiction.. Again that's just me .
He's right 👍 Think about it for a second the gravity and atmosphere on Krypton makes Superman just regular Kal-El just as we are regular people on earth so you actually have the reverse effect for Superman to be as powerful as he is on earth what do you think would happen to us if we lived on Krypton?
Krypton does not actually make him lose his powers. The thing that makes him lose his powers as the red sunlight yellow sunlight is his power source. Red sunlight takes away his power source. This has been reiterated over and over and over again. As for the graph of metric fields of Krypton, he couldn't have adapted to them. He wasn't even there a full freaking day.
Meat chop. If Krypton had remained intact, Clark would not have been able to take Lois to his parents for the weekend. Darkseid, WW and other characters would be regular persons on Krypton except their magic abilities
Yeah the personal gravitational field is pretty cool and the fact that he can sling himself around freely with it is very useful for him as a character, but they had the good sense to limit this ability so he can create these fields but can't extend them that far past his own body.
So a comic I had showed super hero’s in the back and their powers and how they work. According to the comic superman can’t actually fly. Yes he can manipulate the gravity around him but to go forward he uses his strength aka punching. He’s so strong he punches forward and it sends him flying. That’s why you always see his hands in front of him and that’s why every time he goes faster you see him do this kinda double punch forward. Henry’s superman does a really good job a showing this if you watch carefully
That's interesting except it goes against the laws of inertia. If he's punching forward that would send him backwards because he'd be pushing forward against air. If he wanted to have it where a punch drove him forward he would have to punch behind him
@@robinjameson4261 I see what you are saying but at the same time if you stand in one spot with both legs together then kick one leg really hard the forward momentum will carry and you will feel your other leg wanting to follow. Good example would be doing this on ice. You would end up falling on your back. What you are saying I think would require a lot more friction. But by all means I am no scientist lol
@@SissonX It all comes down to one of the basic laws of physics action has an equal or opposite reaction. There's a very simple way of enacting this just do a very slow, very light punch against any surface. You will feel it push you backwards. If he is trying to propel his body he would have to actually punch in the opposite direction of what direction he wanted to travel. Him thrusting out in front of him would be him pushing against what's in front of him and thus make him move backwards.
I saw an explanation that Superman isn't weak, he is extremely strong it is just that without a sort of short-range telekinesis, everything he interacts with would break so easily. He can lift up a plane or building but it doesn't crumble under its own weight because he wraps it with a telekinetic field so it doesn't collapse. Same with punches. He can punch someone with the force of a planet but he doesn't crack the Earth below him because his telekinetic field is holding it together at the moment.
All superman powers are like a psychic, like for example: Flight is just levitation or telekinesis Heat vision is just pyrokinesis Xray vision is just clairvoyance And etc...
@@Cateater123 actually yes he can. He has canonically in the books. Carried Lois Lane many times. Is also carried cats out of trees. He's actually lifted and carried many, many things.sorry misread your tag.
@@Cateater123 I am not saying that he carried through mind, power and fact. At the end of my statement I said that I realized that I read your statement wrong and apologized
It's definitely similar to how Superboy Connor Kent flies it's a form of Tactile telekinesis or bio electric aura the let's him fly and it also helps lift things without damaging the object too much like the time he lifed a whole building anyd it didn't fell apart and collapse on itself or how he can catch someone in mid flight or in super speed without killing the person in the process.
It was proven by Lex Luthor that Kryptonians have natural inbuilt anti gravity organs. Without them, they cannot survive on Krypton because the planet is too large and its gravity would crush the Kryptonians.
Superman uses tactile telekinesis it’s the reason he can fly it’s also the reason he can lift planes when Homelander can’t under the yellow sun kryptonians gain a bioelectric field they can control to do some really impressive stuff. They even use it when they use cold breath they push the heat away from the area to absolute cold meaning he can turn you into a block of ice just by exhaling at you lmao.
You are actually a bit wrong, he actually glides over the earth's magnetic field. Supes also has a kind of magnetic field around his body, that is why most of the bullets that are shot to him get destroyed even before touching him.
@@phalix0 I said he uses it to glide, as per stated in comics. In space you really don't need any energy to fly, 1 push and you keep moving there as there is no friction. There he just have to enter space and he can float. But I ain't no physicist.
For a very long time, I was a fan of Superman because of the 70s and 80s films, but I never really questioned the lore of his powers. Like I didn't know he drives his powers from the Sun. So he's kind of like a plant using photosynthesis to gain energy from the Sun. It was so funny to me comparing Superman to a potted plant.
It was explained that the yellow sun energizes Kryptonians and gives them much of their powers. In Kingdom Come, Clark has been so energized by the years of yellow sun rays that even Kryptonite can no longer affect him.
The different planet thing only work for his ability to deal with gravity like lifting stuff and jumping high but his ability to fly is due to his ability to manipulate gravitons. Also side note, if superman could lift a car with easy as a baby then he should have no bulky muscle since nothing would be heavy enough for him to work out
Simple words, everything about Superman is "Super", his eyes can see through all wavelengths, his body is soo dense and has so much mass in that dense state that he himself is like a planet and planets have their own gravity hence reverse gravity is the perfect theory...
Not only doese the sun charge him but the sun has a gravitational pull as well so he can alternate between the gravitational pull of the sun or the earth. That's what gives him flight.
He was a freaking baby when he was on Krypton for him to actually have it to his body is adapted to the gravimetric fields of a place that he's barely been on. Even a single freaking day would go against everything that is not explanation for his flight.
Originally, Superman did jump from one place to the other. Hence, "Look up in the sky, it's a bird, a plane, no It's Superman. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." Over time, it evolved into him simply being able to fly. To suspend in mid air, became a theory of him gaining control of this ability. I think Kryton should be from another dimension, because, they have Superman flying to other planets and galaxies, still maintaining his powers, assuming there are no other red Suns... 🤔
So does he create pockets of gravity in front of him? 🤔 Cause gravity causes things to move by pulling them towards super dense objects. How would he fly in a void where there is no "object" to be pulled towards?
It was proven by Lex Luthor that Kryptonians have natural inbuilt anti gravity organs. Without them, they cannot survive on Krypton because the planet is too large and its gravity would crush the Kryptonians.
The real answer to this question is this... It was proven by Lex Luthor that Kryptonians have natural inbuilt anti gravity organs. Without them, they cannot survive on Krypton because the planet is too large and its gravity would crush the Kryptonians. However, when Superman travelled to earth, all of his organs dramatically enhanced. This caused Supermans anti gravity organs to become supercharged, thus allowing Superman to pull himself in any direction once he learnt how to control them.
Nope thats not the reason. .....if this was the case then he wouldn't be able to fly in space nor he would create sonic boom ...main reason for his fly is his body DNA....his body cell has a bioelectric aura ...which he control by his technique ( tactile telekinesis ) ..and thats why when he takes his first flight in man of steel ..rock start hovering and moving And because of this bioelectric aura ..he can increase his durability ,streangth and speed for eg...in BVS when batman machine gun start shooting superman he block the bullets with his hand even though his skin is invulnerable ( until it come in kryptonite ) , then he take few second and put down his hand coz he increased his aura ... well this is not my theory ..these are all the thing i have read from interview of zack and reading comics..👍
So based on the kryptonian DNA, you are any heavier atmosphere heavier everything so your body mass is that much more it's going to be condensed and strengthened to the stand earths atmosphere is that much weaker and less requiring of strength, but the kryptonian body will still retain or continue to Process the ability to achieve more than typical humans which allows them to increase their own magnetic field within themselves, which can produce electricity with they magnetic field, or anything right magnetic that causes a temporary magnetic moment as long as he or she can contain, and maintain the magnetic field that they can produce Which attracts and unattracted positives and negatives, which allows them to push and sore through the sky what do you think? What does anybody think?
It's comic logic, stop questioning it. "He can manipulate gravity" is just such a bad explainition science wise "A wizard did it" would be a better explanation by lightyears
Superman flies. It's just a thing. I mean, eyes don't normally have an extra crispy feature and no matter how hard you're able to blow wind that might knock someone down but it wouldn't freeze anything Kryptonian biology absorbs sunlight and turns it into breaking the laws of physics. That's pretty much what it comes down to
