How Far Away Is Cyberpunk 2077?

The reception for Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t been great. Many gamers are unhappy with all the bugs and glitches, saying the game is pretty much unplayable on last gen consoles. While the state of the game right now is bad, I trust that CD Projekt Red will pull a No Man’s Sky and make the game up to their standards with patches over the next few months. While the question “how far away is Cyberpunk 2077 for being playable?” is completely valid, I’ll be looking at how close our world is to becoming like the one in the game. It turns out that we could very well end up living in a world sharing similarities with Cyberpunk 2077.
Humans are getting microchipped right now in 2020, specifically in Sweden. A few thousand Swedes are putting microchips in their hands, but not for the reasons you might think. It’s all in an attempt to make their daily routines easier, not to turn them into cybernetically enhanced humans. If you think about it, getting cybernetic enhancements opens up a whole slew of problems. It could turn our world into a real life version of the Marvel or DC Universe, with superheroes and supervillains around every corner. That sounds awesome, but is it really?

When VR is more widespread then yes. But until then there might be other devs building better games suited for VR in the future. And those games will likely be less "future gimmicky" like the cyberpunk game. Cyberpunk as a genre will either die or evolve with the times to keep up with the "low life high tech" model but even that is just a part of what the genre was/is.

The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is based on a 1980s vision of the future. Some things are shockingly close to reality like the net and some the social issues in Night City. Others, like the wired personal link are very 80s futuristic. Given that the trend over the last 10 years has been toward wireless connectivity, that aspect seems unlikely. Instead, you would just stand in an area and have access to network services by thinking but not actually having to be in physical contact with everything. Also, augmentations may look more like older Deus Ex games. Rather than having robotic body parts, your existing body parts would be enhanced by biomedical engineering and nano machines.

I mean, I'm 2 years late, but my reasoning to the fact that a physical connection would still be something of interest is because wired connections have always been more reliable and capable of offering high speeds and good reliability, which could prove very useful when interfacing with a computer that's chipped into your literal brain and nervous system. As we still lack the technology to reliably control things with our thoughts, maybe once it kicks off and starts to be marketed, wired connections may make its way into it.

They don't use wireless because it greatly reduces security. Wireless systems exist but are never used by mercs, gangs, or corpo spies except extremely expensive models. Also the internet is very different more like intranet. So most things aren't connected like In our world.

@@Eric-pz1iv I suppose the other thing to keep in mind while talking about the world of cyberpunk is that it is an alternate future. Wireless standards are becoming more and more secure but they will never be as secure as a physical connection.

From what I can see as of now, -corps: they can and will influence states or countries in one way or another (think corporations refusing to sell to Russia and tesla offering satellite internet to the ukranian military) -Cybernetics: exo suits, enhanced eyesight (the bionic lens by ocumetics), nano technology for medicine and hell, the military is always working on things like lasers and rail guns. It's really just a matter of better batteries for all of it.

I wouldn't say everyone getting super enhanced bodies would be unrealisitic considering the modern day police are updating their technology and forces more and more. I can see a scenario where there are cases of people with cybernetically enhanced bodies using their abilities for crime only to be stopped by a more advanced police squad similar to Cyberpunk 2077's universe in which they have things like "cyberpsychos" who end up either getting away with crimes or being blasted to death by some super advanced form of police squads. For example the film Chappie was about a universe where the police are basically bulletproof androids and that even criminals acknowledged that if they get involved there was no stopping them from enforcing the law upon them. ( Hell they already are talking about hiring bomb robots to assist the police and even their weapons and equipment are getting crazier so I won't be surprise if they have robot cops in the future like Chappie.)

Well I'll be 77 in 2077 so, if the future is like this, I sure hope peoples driving has improved to operate flying cars, if we achieve that ability. I recon the future will be like a mixture of futuristic, retro and vintage; like considering the huge popularity of 80s style clothing, thrift, reviving old technology or ways of living life, life I recon will look no different to how things look now, just maybe electric cars, roads may look cleaner and less broken up and pot holes, cleaner looking modern buildings, and maybe some holographic stuff here and there. Also with the smattering of nature, as we try and make things look more breathable and naturesk.

Will we are pretty much there like cyberpunk as some people that don't have arms or legs they can use a 3D printer to have a robotic arms and legs so that they can pick up stuff by controlling in their mind like a real arm and there legs,also for the people that can't hear anything they can use a hearing aid to actually hear really well back again, but for the eyes that some people are blind that can't see they will be seeing everything again by getting robotic eyes which I been hearing by people many times.

If Im still alive I will be 80 years old in 2077. I have a feeling I'll be dead before I turn 80years old. People that turn 80 are lucky cause most don't make it there, mainly because of cancer. Im 27 right now and don't have a job, my parents take care of me. Its hard working for me cause Im not that smart. So if I did make it to 80 I would try to get arrested by the cops, cause in prison they feed you free food. I could only survive in prison, If I became homeless I would die of starvation cause I can't find a job easy for me to do sadly.

Believe me if there was ever a Night City irl where you have steams coming from shops, cybernetic enhancements with holographic billboards going to space and techno drip with cars etc, it would be extremely dope. Closest city to ever look like Cyberpunk is in fact Dubai, hence why I wanna go there 😅 Then again 80% of people now (middle class and poor) will likely not afford a world like that. Economically, California's probably the closest to Cyberpunk.

Which was what? The convoluted storyline? Being bombarded with calls, and text messages when starting a new mission just to be cut off from that entire story line for days after beating the first part of the story line? being invested in it just to start up another mission just to have the same thing happen over and over again? Or the side missions where all you do is slaughter people with ease over....and over......and over.....and over....and over....and over.....and over.....and over....and over...and over....and over.....and over....and over....and over....and......over.......and ........over.....and.......over again? It took me like a day and a half to hook back up with Judy after leaving her to help out Panam, getting caught up with a bunch of side missions, and helping river. Then I haven't seen Panam for about that same amount of time after meeting up with River and helping him out, and I haven't seen Jeff and Elizabeth for 3 days. I been trying to get back to all them and instead I'm out looking for cars that have feelings out of all things. Cars that are feeling sad and depressed, go figure. I been stuck helping Clair with her drag racing and doing a bunch of side missions. Oh and I haven't seen Rogue since I met her in the club for the first time. Never the less I can't stop playing the game. I'm addicted to it as much as I was addicted to RDR2 despite the game crashing on me every hour and a half, and freezing on me.

Honestly, it may not be as unrealistic as the creator of this video claims, where yes, it may seem farfetched, but tech is advancing at such an insane rate that what we think unlikely now or think will take decades may very well happen within 2-6 years from this comment if not sooner.

well tis very unblikley if you follow the lore the the rason knight city is the way it is becuase corpations took over due tothe fact that the goverment collapsed in the crash of 94 and aftyer that half of the population has parished due to a pleague well that didnt happen so also if you played the game youlll see that cnight city is alread established in 2020 due to corpos havign control also alot of the tech that you see was imnplemented inthe 90s before the crash of 94 SO ID THINK WE WILLBE WAY FAR ADVANCED also jacking in to computer its sounds liek somthing ud have to do inthe 90s now all you need to do is jsut connect bluetooth to everything but if yousee night city everythign thats there is alot of old tech well established well intergrated for a long time cars last for decades unlike our current vehicles cyberpunk cars most of them was made in the 2020s 2040s and alot of them are very used and warn down like the thorton gelina and a few others but theres very few new cars emanignthat the economy is still like a recession most peopel in night cuty travel onthe NCART system or take buses or taxis cars would vbevery expensive even for a middel class person so out future isnt gonanbe like cyberpunk 2077

'Cept now it's legit one of the best games ever made, and was almost entirely as good as it was when I first played it thinking it was supposed to be trash when this video came out... I hope people are giving it a shot rather than still believing it's awful. I only played it two years ago because I wanted a hateplay for a drunk laffs night, I didn't know CDPR had busted ass and made it this amazing.

@@Aencrytp Yes, I'm pro-OWG in theory. It all depends on the implementation - same as with communism. It can go horribly wrong but it could also turn out wonderful. Unlike capitalism which is a nice and steady descent especially without socdem/social security measures. Unless tech developments somehow outstrip our appetite to destroy our environment and then each other for dwindling resources. Amazing recommendation of Alex Jones btw................. and with such condescension too. I'd recommend laying off the cool-aid :D.

And the entire cyberpunk genre is a warning. our cities could turn into small countries because of climate change. And those cities can and will be controlled by companies if we dont look out .
