Honestly surprised with the times. There is this culture where bodybuilders are regarded as the best in the weight room, and only in the weight room. Outside of their habitat they become unfunctional for a lot of body movement sports. As a track and field athlete, I must admit that I was seriously impressed. Not only did their start look pretty fast and remarkably good technically! Also their max speed seems to be way higher then the average male with respective 40 and 60m times for men who never train for sprinting. 12.99 is not fast in the world of sprinting, even for 18 yr Olds, but it's respectable since not a lot of people could achieve that time. So congratulations for changing my perspective on bodybuilders for the better and lastly: please do this more often, you're body will be and feel better combined with the fact that you could get that 100m time lower than you'd expect with a bit of practice!!

muscle hypertrophy leads to increased storage of ATP and PC allowing for repeated and lonnger maximal intensity efforts
@masterleon40
@masterleon40 4 года назад
Yeah, but your muscle fibers are not as explosive as they could be if you just focus in hypertrophy.
@hitesh8782
@hitesh8782 4 года назад
Ignacio Rodrigues that’s true which is why the body builder wasn’t as fast as the “sprinter” but you could still tell the sprinter’s muscles had undergone significant hypertrophy as a result of chronic adaptations to anaerobic training.
@hitesh8782
@hitesh8782 4 года назад
Jeeses99 You should also try plyometric training, it will improve your reaction time at the start of a sprint race as well as overall race time.
@hitesh8782
@hitesh8782 4 года назад
Jeeses99 There’s no harm in doing both unless your training for a specific event or something. In which case you should maintain specificity to the event ur training for by replicating the energy system usage, fitness components, muscle groups as well as skills involved (running). So the most beneficial for you if you wanna just train for a 100-200m sprint event is to do short interval training, plyometrics training and sprints training 3-5 times a week at maximal intensity.
@irunbuildsboy8491
@irunbuildsboy8491 4 года назад
Hitesh sprinting 3 to 5 times a week at maximal intensity? Are you crazy? You can’t do sprint training 3 times a week at maximal intensity let alone 5, because it taxes your CNS, 2 times at max intensity makes much more sense because you can have 2 days rest to fully recover from the strain that was put on your CNS, everything else you said was right though

Tbf, Bolt's times include reaction time of 0.15s so his 4.64s is really 4.49s. Also, the more accurate high speed cameras used in the official biomechanical report had him a little faster in most respects, than the usual laser method, especially at 60m, with a 6.29s split (inc RT), 6.14s if RT is included. This is because they are direct measurements as opposed to the LAVEG laser measurements which include a small error related to targeting the sprinters body as they run and adds some distance to the race at the first 10m segment as the sprinter's lower back (the target area) is a decent distance behind the starting line.

It's all about practice, Mike. If you get the coaches and incorporate sprint training in your regular weekly routine, then you will be much more capable of undertaking and enduring such sessions, despite your physiques. Most NFL and Rugby Players have similar physiques to yours, and they do all out sprint training across the field to along the entire length of the field. Because they are use to it, they recover quickly enough to do from half a dozen to a dozen reps per session for full length sprints, to twice that for across the field sprints.
@mattcave9159
@mattcave9159 4 года назад
I was too hasty in my judgement on Matt’s video - your sprinting form is decent (it wasn’t at the end of a 1.5 mile run! 😂). The 60 time is respectable enough, probably more like a 7.50 in proper conditions, but the 100...yeahhhh. I think the 200, never mind a 400, would be hilarious to see the slowdown 🤣 Perhaps the suggestion for the next workout on Matt’s channel should be a 400m training session! 😉

The 40 and the 60 meter dash definitely took a lot of gas off your lunges. I'm quite sure you could've run 0.3-0.5 seconds faster had you started off with the 100m. With some speed endurance training alone you'd be able to cut off another 0.5 seconds at least. You definitely got some decent speed, which I'm certain you can thank your strength and body building training for as well. Strength training alone doesn't make you a speed demon, but it definitely helps to a large extent

Every tenth of a second over 100 metres adds up to one metre lost on the track. So if you finish up 0.2 seconds behind your opponent, it means that he beat you by two metres. By the way, one-hundredths of a second pan out to ten centimetres (gained or lost) in such sprint races. Thought you might like to know. MsG
