How Fast Does the Mercedes EQS Charge on the Electrify America 350kw DC Fast Chargers

In this video we drove the Mercedes EQS all the way down to 9% left on the battery capacity. Then we headed to the Electrify America 350kw DC fast charger nearby to see how fast it charges when it is that low on remaining battery capacity. I have always read it can charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, but I had a hard time believing it.
What do you think? Are these good results? Are your results any different? I can definitely say it is starting to be more realistic to drive modern electric vehicles between cities. It's not perfect yet, but the industry is making progress it seems.
Hope you enjoyed this video and found it helpful.
Love y'all !! See you next time !!

Thank you for sharing. I haven't tried high speed charging yet on our EQS580 and now have the knowledge.

You got it! It charges incredibly fast on the 350kw chargers we have here.

Over 200kw charging? My EQS has never charged more than 120kw. Most EA stations will charge my EQS around 90-100Kw (both 150kw & 350kw chargers)

I have found that it helps to select the charging destination on the Mercedes navigation map. The car seems to do some sort of preconditioning of the battery on your way to the charger when you do that and it charges faster.

Thanks for sharing. I spend 10-20 mins at WaWa or Sheetz (the two places most likely to have rapid charges around me). This is more than enough speed. Plan to charge at home 99% of the time.

We do the same. We charge at home most of the time. But it was fun to do the experiment to see how quickly it charges on a high speed setup

Wow...I hope that is a huge pack as in our Ioniq5 we go from 10 - 80% in about 18 minutes and usually hit 240KW - we have seen 243 maxed out on a perfect charge. What size of pack is that? Beautiful car I must say...hard to beat M.B. for design and style! Have a good day! Mike 🇨🇦

Thanks for watching Mike!! I see a lot of Ioniq5 on the road lately. They look nice. For the EQS 450+ that we have I think the battery pack is around 120kw. At 80% charge we have around 380 miles of range. If we charge to 100% it usually shows around 420 miles of charge. So far we have been very happy with the EQS.

I used electrify america but when it charges it didnt charge me a fee. This is for eqs 580.

It should be free for 2 years when you own an EQS. Ours is free as well.

Any issues with the car so far? And what's the range? I'm considering it
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 21 день назад
Only issue we have had so far is the door handles getting stuck. But it seems that is a problem across all of the EQS, EQE, and S-class cars and Mercedes replaced all 4 door handles under warranty. Otherwise it has been great. Range at 100% charge shows around 415 miles. at 80% charge we are around 380 miles. We do a mix of city and highway driving and the range is actually pretty close to accurate. If you drive only on the highway without much braking the range will be slightly less since you are not regenerating power during braking. Overall we are very happy with it. We are considering the EQS SUV for our next one.

The EQS isn't the fastest charging EVs but one of the longest legged - i think only the Lucid Air goes farther on 1 charge than the EQS sedan. That said the 800V architecture EVs like the Taycan/e-tron GT, the Ioniq/EV6 and those similar can hit 270 kW max. The newer Lotus Eletre can even go through 300 kW!

amazing to see the progress in the industry year after year. Even with the 200kW max on the EQS charges plenty fast for us. 30min to get from 10% to 80% is great. If we are driving in the city we often get 400 miles of range easily. It has been a really neat car to own so far.

Jeez dude. Wtf. 30 min fucking around for not having even full charge.

I know. It’s annoying. Compared to other EVs it’s good. But still way more annoying than a regular gas or diesel car.

It looks like charging is slightly slower than the Ioniq 5. Ioniq 5 can get up to 240-250kw. This car has a higher range but the price is almost twice that of Ioniq 5.
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 5 месяцев назад
I’m not familiar with the Ioniq. But those are very different vehicles in a completely different class. If your primary goal is just charge speed and cost of ownership the Ioniq is probably the better choice. Both awesome in their own ways.

10 bucks isn't bad either. 🤔

Imagine a world where you can charge your EV as quickly as you can fill your tank with gas.
@NKPGarage
@NKPGarage 8 месяцев назад
That would be amazing. But also sounds like an explosion or fire waiting to happen. I’m sure tech will get there some day
@kalon511

@@NKPGarage It can't be any more dangerous than gas, hydrogen, or of the present danger we're (currently) presented with when dealing with electricity. A transformer explosion presents a bit of an issue as well. Honestly, it would be more beneficial/wise to move everything over to hydrogen rather than EV's as hydrogen would be more beneficial and less harmful (overall) than electric.
