When it comes to plastisol for making fishing lures, Bait Plastics is the absolute best in the industry. We had a chance to tour their facility and wanted to bring you guys along for the ride so you can see for yourself what makes this plastisol the highest quality.
After touring their MASSIVE facility, we sat with Bait Plastics co-founders Tara and Butch who work tirelessly behind the scenes and we even go into detail with their chemist, Joe, about settling, hard-packing, degassing and the HOTTEST of the topics, PHTHALATES.

Good video! Joe knows his stuff. I’ve been an operator at a large chemical plant for 30 years that makes multiple plasticizers. Good job!

Thanks for doing this video! I found you through Nate’s channel, and finally pulled the trigger on a few molds yesterday (Nugget, Jackhammer, and the Holiday Worm…thanks for that!) during your Cyber Monday sale. I’m really looking forward to getting into making soft plastics, and this video was helpful in making a decision on which plastic to buy. Thanks, Jason!

Ive been using BP since I started and I have never had a problem with it at all the fact it's actually more local to me than other companies and them offering Starter kits is what got me to order and keep ordering from BP

I started making baits about a year ago. I've been using Dop, I don't have any complaints with it but I didn't realize BP was in Missouri. Its a whole hour 15 from my house. I'll probably be making the change for my next order.

Like a kid in a candy store! 😂 You are the best. Subscribed. I wanna get into this at home bait making. I just needa save some money for all the essentials like molds, injectors, and of course plastisol. I wanna do stuff like that on my channel. Making baits and fishing with m, and maybe getting into designing my own one day.

How do I get the exact fall rate and wiggle action of the gary yamamoto senko? Is it the salt, plastisol formula, mould? What makes it so good?

Is there anyway that you guys could make a custom mold for something similar to the Berkley 1 inch pinched crawler? I would pay on the spot for something like this!

I have an idea I seen on hard baits with bait balls. Baits inside a bait like a school of shad in one big soft plastic bait. I can’t word it but you seen them on crank baits

I have a question Do you have a 1.50 or 1.75 or 2.0 in. Spider for panfish. I actually fine and use real spiders about that link and that size. And catch a lot of pan fish on them like bluegill red-ear red breath and I have actually caught bass also.

Some interesting information but I have some points to make from years of plastics work. Phthalates and terephthalates are in no way chemical the same. The issue with the way the chemists and yourself word this in the video is phthalates are not chemically bonded so simply heating them releases it into the air. They are a hot topic because we cannot conclusively say what they do to humans because testing on humans could be dangerous but peer reviewed tests have shown that free phthalates can cause reproductive issues in male and female animals along with other health issues. Now when we take terephthalates and do the same heating they do not break down and enter the air as easily. Scorching them helps break the bonds but because of the nature of the chemical it tends to be more stable. This stability keeps free phthalates from leaching into the air and into the skin. So while the chemist there said it is more of a marketing gimmick it’s not.

I recently switched to bait plastics ( the 242 & 262 ) from another brand, my baits are coming out nice but develop a smoky haze while curing 1 - 2 days after pouring, I called them & they said its a known issue with 242 Ultra Clear & It happens if you add heat stabilizer & suggested pouring more batches without it, I did and the same thing happens, 80% of my baits are transparent colors & although it ruins all 100% its more noticeable with transparent colors, I have 4 buckets of this stuff now & cannot use it. pretty disappointing since its supposed to be such good plastisol and "Ultra Clear" , if I apply some worm oil they look transparent again until the oil dries up, I wanted to like this stuff but so far has been a total waste of $ and time.

So then it should be cheaper if they own the company that makes the product and it's only right next door that's like two less times it has to be transported so how come it's more expensive I mean it's a pretty good question I love their product but sometimes I have to save the $45 and buy cheaper from somewhere that has to deal with the middleman

Disappointing Taking a jab at the competition in that manner is low. It’s an very obvious jab towards Dead On Plastic. Especially since Polysol and Dead on had a falling out years ago. Building yourself up by tearing someone down is low and tacky Btw I use Polysol, it’s disappointing The route he took. They have an excellent product so no need to hit “Low” like he did. Again disappointing. Think it’s time to find a new plastic, maybe I’ll go back to Calhouns Btw as a former Ad man, going the way they did is a huge consumer turn off. You can compare and show why your product is better kinda like Coke and Pepsi do it. But what you did is the lowest of the low. Disappointing and though I did enjoy the tour very much, BP just lost me as a long time customer. Yes I’m definitely going to Calhouns.

Yeah the bait plastics guys have been after Dead on plastix for years. DO remains classy while these guys go out of their way to try and stop people from using it.
