You have great thoughts about the strength and weaknesses of Fleet. You have a deep sense of platfighter game knowledge! Thanks for sharing a bit of it
This looks like everything I wish smash ultimate robin was: "zoning" moves that are instead best used as aggressive set ups or follow ups for a run-in, unique and strange combo. Great video.
I already wanted to play Fleet because of her being from the rouge like and after seeing this I'm just more hyped for this game. Thank you so much for breaking her down
Came to this video immediately once I tried her in the training room of the first beta just now. I was so confused, and this cleared up just about everything! Thanks!
I feel like Fleet most ressembles Ultimate Mega Man, a zoner but that needs to play mid ranged, that can combo using her projectiles, really good at edgegarding and taking stocks offstage (their down airs are pretty similar too, and the time based explosion reminds me of Mega Man's crash bomb) As I'm a Mega Man main myself I think I'll main Fleet in Rivals 2 Thanks for this video ! I didn't really get how the dice worked until now
The more I've watched you talk about Fleet in streams and videos like this, the more I feel inclined to learn her alongside Maypul. She seems pretty awesome to move around and play, her strings don't seem too intensive for me, and her range does give me what I'd be lacking due to Sylvanos not being included in the base cast. Thank you for the overview!
fun fact : she's also funny as hell in Dungeons (and definitely deserves to be the poster child for that game (although I love Artemis with all my gay heart))
One additional thing about her wing charge mechanic is that if you whiff a charged arrow it will stick into the ground or walls and you can actually go pick up the arrow to refund the wind charge
I am SO hyped for rivals 2. I backed as soon as Orcane accidentally leaked on that loading screen bug, cause he's my main, but I feel like I'd have bought it regardless seeing all of the cool stuff they have added.
I love Fleet already from her being voiced by Faye Mata (Voice of Petra from FE3H, Astolfo from Fate/Apocrypha, Aqua from Konosuba, Rin Hoshizora from Love live, etc.) so I'm really happy that she looks cool in this game
I played the dungeons of aether demo once, here's what's up with the dice thing: The way the game works is that every turn several dice of different numbers and colors are rolled. You and the enemy take turns picking them to boost your stats for the turn, with the colors corresponding to attack, defense, speed, and technique (which unlocks more moves depending on the value). You have a resource called stamina, which is gained through using items and I believe can be bought between runs in story mode, which is why in Rivals Fleet recovers passive charges with apples. Stamina can typically be spent to add points to a stat for the turn so you can improve the outcome of a turn that otherwise wouldn't be good. There's also "stamina dice", which aren't directly related to the stamina stat and instead are like wild card dice that can give full value in any stat you want (normal dice that are 2 or higher can be placed in the wrong stat but will only give +1 to it). The idea behind Fleet's neutral special is that she's spending stamina to temporarily power up her bow, and they just use the stamina die as a visual representation of it. If they do end up changing the visuals for clarity, they'll probably just take more inspiration from Dungeons where stamina is always shown in yellow text, shortened to "STA", and is represented with a lightning bolt symbol. Maybe something like [⚡️6] would work best
please, if you can, do a video like this on every playable character!! You have NO idea how much I'm burning to know all the character's special pummels, special ledge attacks, special getups, and throws. I NEED TO KNOW!
@@atWisely my requirement usually isn't a big bruiser. You just gotta hit hard enough to make the other person shit their pants... Or move stylishly enough to do the same. I need BAMF energy for the main. Lemme dabble with fleet tho
Not that I'm aware of right now, but mine felt fine playing in standard mode in the alpha. Notably I had issues with tilt deadzones in the Genesis test last year, so something must've changed since then
Yeah, I wanted to give more of a general overview and not just do a "Here's all the moves" video( I didn't go over all the strong attacks or throws either), but tried to hopefully showcase enough of them in the actual footage!
She can't apply her neutral special to ANY move that uses arrows. It seems to be any move that uses a "normal" arrow. For example, you CAN'T apply neutral special with Down Strong and Forward Throw, as these attacks appear to use their own unique arrows that are already enhanced in some way. Personally I think you can make a compelling argument for the die mechanic. The sides of a 6 sided die are clear and quickly communicate information without being arabic numbers - which is relevant when you have other numbers right next to it (damage%). Dice are often used for simple counting in tabletop games. And being concerned about spectators being confused is strange in a game where spectators are inevitably going to be confused - "what does puddle do" "what does seed mark do" "what does heat do" - Rivals is absolutely brimming with mechanics that require explanation. I think the actual issue with it is that the animation rolls the die, implying randomness. If the die simply spun down I think it would be less of an issue. Edit: Thanks for making all this rivals 2 content, by the way!!!
Yeah, there's only so much I could include in one video, but the "special" arrows is a really good point. Same with being able to pick up arrows off the ground. I like the spin down idea!
the biggest problem with rivals 2 to me is the voice work... it just sounds like... cheap. they squeal and chirp and it sounds cringe. Like a bad anime dub of course, when the voices are the only thing i have issue with, the game is good
