I don’t think people understand how serious us Taiwanese take boba. Everyone lives at least a one minute walk from a boba store. We literally are thinking about putting boba on our passport. International stores and videos like these kinda piss me off. Treating boba like a new discovery when it’s literally been the water of Taiwanese people for like 40 years.

It’s not really that tough to make these tapioca pearls. Recipe as follow: 1 part brown sugar 1 part water 1.5 parts of tapioca starch Cook the brown sugar and water until boiling and add the tapioca starch in 2 parts. Stir using a chopstick (lol Asian ttm) until it turns to a dough. Next you make small balls of pearls using the dough mixture and boil them in boiling water for 15minutes. Turn off the stove and cover the pot with a lid to let it cook for another 15mins (to ensure the inside is thoroughly cooked, or else it’ll be rubbery). Add more brown sugar to the cooked pearls and there you have it.

The reason it's called boba is because of the mandarin translation of boba naicha (pearl milk tea/ bubble milk tea). You can call it whatever you want though :P

It can be 波霸奶茶 (boba naicha) or 珍珠奶茶 (zhenzhu naicha). I believe Taiwanese call it boba but I'm Chinese and called it zhenzhu naicha too. So it could be either or.

I thought it was originally called Pearl Milk Tea. I went to the original store in Taichung, Taiwan (who claimed they invented milk tea) at Chun Shui Tang (春水堂) to learn how to make some milk tea and they told me it was originally called Pearl Milk Tea...bubble or boba came later.

I love boba teas. The flavor combination are awesome. But I would not recommend if you have issues with your blood sugar levels. These drinks tend to run on the sweet side and could cause your levels to spike. A less sweet version is a good option.🙂

I just had my first Boba today I was super excited. The boba black balls was nasty lol but once I chewed it up it was delicious. It’s very slimy lol but it’s pretty good I got the mango dragon fruit Boba drink. Overall it was a new experience I would definitely buy again.

Classic black boba is similar to a chewy mochi and takes on some of the flavor of milk tea (It's also sweetened with either brown sugar or honey). Popping boba comes in a huge variety of flavors.

The drink itself depends on what flavor you get, I had mango the first time and it was good. The beads were kind of weird, and I didnt really like the flavor of it.. idk, it may just be me

It’s basically just some really tasty tea with sweet pearls inside. Its very good 10/10 would recommend.

Here in colorado we have a small sweet shop near my house that makes their own boba as well and will make it in front of you as well if you ask. I love it and have been going to them for years to get their fresh boba
