Even today Africa is still encumbered by a lack of seaports and by limited railway and road networks. Geography continues to burden Africa.

The geography of Africa is not a burden, our mindset is THE burden. We are located between the two most navigable oceans, and the continents on both sides and the one on the north are the most profitable to do business with. However, we don't even want to organise our own agriculture, animal husbandry and low tech manufacturing in order to have a surplus to sell to them. We don't even want to build our own boats in order to carry our goods to them!!!

Uh, Juan Diego would explain it that if you're a native of the area and you've got a business idea: your available market just *drastically* increased, to a degree you couldn't imagine; yes the legalese just changed- quite a bit at that- but that's for the head-of-state to resolve, things like clearly posting the laws... taxes are due on *what* date to be exact; beyond that, merely the capital just shifted and the new language has to be sorted out... but by and large: these guys had a drastic increase in the typical health of their diets among other things.

First of all, the notion that Africa is second to Asia in size is debatable. But the most important thing to consider here is that, just like everything else, too much intellectualism can be misleading. I have a lot of respect for Sowell but in this case I think the intellect in this discourse should be balanced. You cannot talk about Africa or the planet as a whole without balancing intellect with spirit. Mind and soul. Material and etherial. Neautral intellectualism carries a lot of emotional maturity and detatched objectivity but in this case, the intellectualism implored is actually imbalanced. Im not promoting victim mentality, I'm only suggesting that poverty is relative just like everything else and the discuss here is way too academical to be wholistic. You cannot fully understand Africa and its role in the world without adopting a wholistic aproach. And thst aproach must include neuatral, intellectual, spiritual and proper historical factors. Not just the normal yardsticks created with modern scientific facts.

Anyone who calls a person a racist demonstrates a lack of intelligence. Anyone who who denigrates Dr. Sowell personally instead of disputing his facts is ridiculous. Dr. Sowell has probably written more books than you have read. This video presents facts, not opinions. Why is presenting the geographical shortcomings of the African continent “racist”? Do you even know what the word means? Look it up.
