I just want to talk about the comments here, some of them are really harsh. But I think you guys are missing the point here, these traveling videos are not a travel plan kinda video where they do a through research on what to prepare, what to do, where to go or what to eat for a meaningful and fufilling experience. These videos were made by two student who are on a thight buget and with minimal research and planning, they are just some tourists who films their unique experience, for what we know, they might be doing their best already. Of course they will face some difficulties and inconvenience along the way, it is human nature to complaint about things that frustrates us, and their opinions are not even wrong in their situation. If you are a budget traveler, you might find yourself in the same situation as them. There's no need to be so defensive when receiving criticisms, what they experience is not an everyday experience that citizens experience anyway. It is good enough that we know what's better and maybe give suggestions, or just watch other travelers if their opinion bothers you so much. There are a lot of other travel youtubers with amazing videos that puts in tons of effort and research, don't cage yourselves to the opinion of from one channel, and remember they are just opinions, not facts.

Agreed! Some of us r being too sensitive though... I don't feel that's good, we could just correct them but please not with anger. It's normal to pay some wrong money or thinking the tickets are expensive during travelling. Actually that's just a part of travelling. To foreign travelers, it's very easy to buy something more expensive than it should be, especially when you're using a new and unfamiliar app. They know nothing about the promotions or how the thing usually works. It happened on myself, so I totally understand. I went to Canada from China, for the first 2 years (that's a long long time!) I still didn't find out there is a Christmas promotion on phone bill charges almost 50% off of the regular fee for the whole year until my landlord told me. I obtusely paid that 60 CAD every month... Wasted a lot of money🤣.

1、I just checked on the Eurostar website. London to Marseille is about 1,000 kilometers, and the cheapest ticket for a 300km/h high-speed train is USD360. Shanghai to Beijing is more than 1,300 kilometers, and the cheapest ticket for a 300km/h high-speed train is USD82. So, China's high-speed rail expensive? 2、There are many types of hotpot in China. The beef brisket hotpot you eat is actually a Cantonese-style hotpot. The most traditional hotpot in Beijing should be mutton hotpot, the most famous of which is Donglaishun, but there are many small restaurants that also do a good job.

I just checked the train ticket price from amsterdam to barcelona, which has a distance of 1500km, costs 220 euro minimum, and takes from 16 hrs to 27 hrs. the fastest train takes 12.5 hrs, and costs 330 euro. so I guess 82 euro over 4 hours for a similar distance is just far too great? btw, just my own complaint, the price level in EU is now just stupidly too high relative to its income.

From a Chinese perspective, knowing German is actually cooler than knowing English, Germany is always respected in China and the Chinese always consider Germany is the center of Europe and an important pole, you guys should be proud of your own language. As for Chinese, it is actually the most spoken language in the world, not just inside China, also in places such as Malaysia and Singapore, for the Chinese, unless they need to do business or go to school in English speaking countries, there is no need for them to learn English, if they wish to do business with the Russian, French and German, they would rather learn the native language in those countries instead.

I lived in Germany for 10 years. Yes, you could get cheap flight ticket sometimes, I traveled to 15 European countries in 2019 and the flights were always under 50 euros. But the point is, the destination of these cheap flights is random. Of course, I really liked it as tourist, I could visit different countries whenever I found a cheap ticket. HOWEVER, the majority of the travellers are not tourist. Lots of people travel between Beijing and Shanghai to do business, and they could not wait for a random cheap flight. In this scenario, the high speed train is more "consistent" and "predictable". Chinese high-speed train network covers almost every big cities, you can go anywhere at anytime with a reasonable price, which Easyjet and Ryan could not provide :) Viel Spaß in China.

Hey, my German friends, I’m glad you like China. As a Chinese person, perhaps I can offer you some travel tips: You made a wise decision to leave Shanghai at this time. Shanghai is currently experiencing the "梅雨季节 (méi yǔ jì jié)," which means prolonged periods of high temperatures and humidity that can be very uncomfortable. In comparison, the climate in Beijing is much better, though it is also quite hot here. The culture in Beijing is completely different from that in Shanghai. I suggest you try "涮羊肉 (shuàn yáng ròu)," which is a type of hotpot that only includes tender lamb and sesame sauce-it’s not spicy at all. Alternatively, you can try "炸酱面 (zhá jiàng miàn)," a traditional Beijing noodle dish known for its rich toppings and sauce. As for Peking duck, I don't recommend trying it at "全聚德 (Quán jù dé)" because it’s overly expensive and not really worth the price. Instead, you could try "四季民福 (Sì jì mín fú)" or "大董 (Dà Dǒng)." If you're up for a challenge, you can try "豆汁儿 (dòu zhīr)." This drink is similar to blue cheese in Europe, natto in Japan, or surströmming in Sweden. It's generally not accepted by Chinese people outside of Beijing, but it’s actually good for your health. Don't forget to buy some "西瓜 (xī guā);" during this season, watermelons in China are so cheap it feels like they cost nothing, and they are large and sweet-perfect for summer. If you have enough travel time, consider visiting more northern Chinese cities like Harbin, which is influenced by Russian culture-because southern cities are simply too hot. Hope you have a great trip!

I understand you said that the high-speed rail tickets are expensive not out of malice, probably because China's subways, supermarkets, and food are very affordable, therefore the high-speed rail tickets are more expensive than you expected "Chinese prices". I have three points to say. 1. We have a cheap slow rail T109 from Shanghai to Beijing, which costs 22.5 euros and takes 15 hours. 2. Many Chinese think that high-speed rail is not expensive because there are some differences in life with Europe. In China, air tickets are usually more expensive than high-speed rail, and more costly than Wizz, and EasyJet tickets (probably because China's cost of purchasing aircraft is higher than Europe's). When you say that high-speed rail is expensive, Chinese people can't understand why and are not sure if you are malicious, so many people will cite the prices of railways of the same mileage in other countries to prove that China's railways are not expensive. 3. China welcomes you. Although you are happy in the video, I don't know if you have put aside your prejudice and embraced China. Have you noticed that the video thumbnails about China are always unhappy faces, but most of the video thumbnails about India are smiling or laughing?

It is like a base of other kinds of congee, so it's plain and no taste, or only the taste of white rice. But that's how some Chinese people like (for instance me😂 We feel it's fresh). But at the same time, we also have other many kinds of congee that cook with squash, thousand-year-egg and lean pork, sliced fish, eight cereals, yam... Those can be sweet, salty, sour, fishy and so on. Sadly no one introduce to you that you didn't buy the food matches your flavor. A little pity you did not get a perfect breakfast experience; Similarly, Steamed Buns(馒头, pronounces like: Man Toe)are made of grounded grain without any filling, generally showing smooth surface without folds. If want to have stuffing, Chinese people will choose to buy Steamed Stuffed Buns(包子, pronounces like: Bow Zi). Steamed Stuffed Buns have folds on the surface, that is the two you bought after, with meatballs and onions and thought they tasted delicious. They can be stuffed with different materials: spicy pickled radish, sugar and sesame, beef, pork, lamb, fried cabbage... different local small restaurants have their own different menus. It's just a way Chinese cooking food. Another kind of buns I feel nice are called Pan Fried Buns(生煎包, pronounces like: Shen Jam Bow). Some restaurants could make the surface super crispy and inside very juicy (depends on how the chef cook. You know, some chefs cook really good and some cook so so😂), usually stuffed with meat. So I feel if this way continues... you will eat unsatisfying or I mean, unexpected food. May waste money and not have a good travel experience 😔. I have lived in Shanghai for many years, but I have not been to Beijing, so I searched the Internet for recommended restaurants (Just for reference yet I didn't go to Beijing 😂). Here are the links. Not sure if you can open it, try whether it could do any help: m.dianping.com/ugcdetail/253707645?sceneType=0&bizType=29&msource=baiduappugc m.dianping.com/ugcdetail/237064621?sceneType=0&bizType=29&msource=baiduappugc m.dianping.com/ugcdetail/244462746?sceneType=0&bizType=29&msource=baiduappugc#comment Below are Shanghai Specialist Food: baijiahao.baidu.com/s?id=1776547036992207599&wfr=spider&for=pc baijiahao.baidu.com/s?id=1791585346529682774&wfr=spider&for=pc www.thepaper.cn/newsDetail_forward_27506944 What's more, you can search at night when u back hotel for what you want to eat next day. Save the picture to look for the restaurants. I believe local people will glad to recommend you good places. If you're worried even the minimum level of spiciness might be too spicy, you can tell the waiter after you order, or you can carry a handwritten note with you that says this easy Chinese:【一点点,少少辣】 [Little, less less spiciness] The chef will also be happy to customize the spiciness for you. We often order in this way (like a secret menu) when we go out to eat, telling the waiter what u want and what u can't eat. I know that traveling in a foreign country is easy to be shy and embarrassed to communicate (I'm this kind of person haha), so I wish you can have a nice travel experience in China. Don't force yourselves to eat spicy if u can't eat. There are too many other non-spicy delicious cuisines waiting for u to have a taste. Especially I'm afraid that your stomachs would be stimulated to diarrhea lol. That's no good during traveling.

Forgot to say, the "Laundry Bag" in this video haha, it's for guests to put bags or jackets. Because the seats are packed, or some people may feel hot during eating, it's only a "locker" thing to provide conveniency to customers. Let them serve themselves, have clean space to put their personal stuffs.

In 1996 one of my bucket list was to fly from Malaysia to get on board the French TGV. It was a wonderful experience like in an airplane from Lausanne to Paris.

The distance between Shanghai and Beijing is exactly like Paris to Vienna, in Europe, a train simply doesn't get you there 😂Oh Oh wait, they brought back the night train service, it's 15h, runs twice a week, costs €65-190. For the escalators, they're simply spoiled! I guess it's just once you used a smart phone, you don't go back to Nokia... In China, everywhere that there should be elevators and escalators, there will be some; hell even certain places that you think there shouldn't be, lol. But I'd take the stairs if my suitcase is not super heavy.

The distance from Shanghai to Beijing is 1318 km by train, which is nearly 300km longer than Paris to Vienna by train (1034 km).

True haha, in Europe you do most things by car or plane. Although there is also a big train network. I think most people use the Interrail passes, if they want to go by train because you always cross through so many countries with distances like that😂 And as for the escalators, we also really enjoy them and got used to them quite quickly. We just found it funny, that everybody queued up and didn’t use totally free stairs😂

It surprises me also, High Speed Trains are now every where/every city just like subways. It makes us travel much much more easier. I didn't expect China can develop that fast.

Shanghai to Beijing is about 1300KM. If your budget is tight, you can travel cities near Shanghai, such as Hangzhou and SuZhou.

Baidu mostly, but it’s hard because everything is on Chinese. We use also google maps for metro lines and general train stations and some big places. It’s a mix of both it’s definitely not easy some times.

The fact that the population of Shanghai itself is 30% of all German's, no wonder everything is so massive. Can't imagine how much effort has been put to make everything so well organized.

It's SIMPLY NOT TRUE that EU bulletin trains/flights of the same distance are cheaper than HST in China. You guys need to be more precisive as there are plenty of smart viewers from every corner of the world who aren't easily fooled.

Nice video Not sure about calling this expensive - it’s a fast speed train, and it’s an exceptional product. It’s very good value. You could take a sleeper train for much less if on a budget.
