How Good Is New Multiplayer in Disney Dreamlight Valley Update. It's a Step In a Right Direction! 

I have to say that Palia got the multi-player resource sharing correct, and all other games going forward have to implement a version of it, anything less feels utterly lacking

In Animal crossing you need have to be best friends with a person for them to use tools on the host's island. Something like that could be very helpful here.

I don’t play with multiplayer right now and while these changes are improvements, they definitely won’t make me start doing multiplayer. I think they should make all resource gathering be communal. For example, if you come over my valley and we want to mine all the rocks we can split the mining in half and both get all the resources from all the rocks mined total. Same if fruit is harvested and fish are caught. Otherwise, there’s really not much of a benefit of doing this stuff in other valleys when you could just do it in your own. AND your actions aren’t even going towards your starpath duties so that’s a big problem.

With the boutique, if player A enters Player B”s valley, even if they don’t go into the boutique, Player B will have access to Player A’s shop. So, I guess just setting foot into the valley is enough for the connection to be made.

I hope they let us decorate with our own stuff in someone else’s valley! But that other person can move the stuff or remove it if they want.

Hey, I know them!! Hehe!! Excellent video! I have similar opinions as you both do. The one nice thing about the change to multiplayer is that my kids feel like they are "playing together" more now, where before they would do valley visits together and just run around each others valley. Since they are in the same room, chat isn't an issue, but I do wish the Devs would implement some kind of chat feature - or emotes at the very least. Sonia let a bunch of people into her Daisy shop, but didn't let them have reign in her valley. I think that was a good idea! Also, whenever I have a Treasure Island, I always have a specific area that is blocked off from the rest of my valley. That is even more important now!!!

The most annoying thing is that they added all this stuff to multiplayer but still can’t SIT DOWN. So stupid.

The multiplayer is a bit inconsistent in places, but still a big improvement. Two features we really need are being able to complete Star path duties and be able to wear ToM clothes on other body types

I wish we could toggle it. Im happy for ppl to fish, mine and forage but i donr wamt them digging or gardening. Also i wish we could just unlock or lock the doors if buildings and if unlocked visitors could let themselves in and out

My daughter just tried making an outfit in touch of magic, she loves designing dresses, (she's 8 so she has loads of fun with these types of things) She designed a shirt for me but couldn't save it because they said she reached her max limit. They didn't up the limit it's still the same. Which sucks. So she's having to delete what she made and there are some really nice designs.

Before seeing this video, my daughter and I were playing around with multi player last night in my valley. Yes, it is nice to be able to use our tools. I can try to help her out more now thanks to this feature. Thanks for the video.

Would be cool to show a split screen of both of your POVs, since you both have capability to record your game.

with night thorns invite only ppl you trust closer to a new star path any way cause they wont touch your night thorns.

8:32 I’m pretty sure you can go back to to your own boutique and interact with the tablet and even if you didn’t go into there boutique you can still get the items

I was hoping that it would let us do starpath duties. That way when my daughter waits until the last minute I don’t have to play as her to get it done.

I was disappointed that I couldn’t quest with others on multiplayer. I’m used to mmo styles, so this was shocking to me. I could envision it being like a mini server, but only the server host can decorate the valley before and in between they open and close the connection to the valley. It’s a lot of moving parts. Some of it seems like a simple mmo to me but also not I guess. I just feel you should still be able to quest together.

So in Animal Crossing - if we wanted to just open up our island for people to come shop at our store only we would have to set up a fence path from the airplane terminal to the shop. (This was pre swimming update). Once the fence was set up, the visitor could only go to the shop. This allowed me to just continue what I was doing. Again, pre swimming. Visitors using a shovel - only those with the top rank friendship could use that item. So if strangers were visiting, they could not use their shovel and tear up your ground. I like your slider idea though. That would be nice to toggle on and off what can and can't happen by giving the host control.

Thank you for this video Mrstarinsky. I still won't do multiplayer until it gets improved even more. But I hope we can hangout with our villagers in multiplayer as will in the future for it.

The benefit for cooking would be like if somebody made all those cupcakes for you to do that one mission

I just went to a friend's valley and she's just starting out. Has the Forest unlocked, but not the shovel to remove the big stumps. I was able to remove them for her. Not sure if that's intended.

Weird...that entire area by the Toy Story blocks in the Pixar area was covered with pathing, but your view showed as if some was missing. And those were your cooking ingredients, I did not have colored eggs in any of my chests the game pulls them from. EDIT: I went back to that area and it looks the same as in the video...somehow, the update removed half the tiles. I'm amused.

Fishing can be good if you need Fugu and it's raining at someone else's

You can edit someone else’s design only as long as it is on the podium at their store. After they remove it from the podium you can not make changes.

Other than being able to take photos together, I feel multiplayer is a big swing and a miss. It’s really almost more work for people to play together than to play alone. There’s really is no incentive to mine, fish, etc together. I wish they had taken cues from Palia multiplayer. It’s also silly to announce multiplayer cooking and crafting when all you can do is access the cooking and crafting station in someone else’s valley. As far as TOM I feel they should have done a portal or valley visits to get designs. But they did a weird mashup. I think having just an initial visit to access someone’s store takes away another potentially good multiplayer feature and it opens up potential issues that anyone you invite over can access your designs in your store in the future and you have no control over that. They aren’t going to get everything right all the time but the new multiplayer features were a huge let down for a game that is in full release. I feel they should have released multiplayer as part of early access and made adjustments so when full release came it was a fully functional feature. I usually love most of the things they implement but multiplayer is unfortunately not one of those things.

I mean in genshin impact it's similar mechanics like you only get what you pick up yourself. However people only join there to help fight monsters but here there's not really any benefit other than potentially getting a touch of magic design

Honestly I’m gonna be using this to clean up my Apple Arcade valley bc playing on my phone annoys me but I want the extra resources 🤣

You actually can grind star path!!! It just doesn't show up until the task is complete, at that point you get the notification on the screen but you cannot claim the reward until you are back in your valley or until you close multiplayer. I tested this with a friend earlier :)

You can load someone eles shop into your own and by extension your visitor can access the other persons design. Thats weird.

Its only 32 spots. 50 is the amount of layers. You get 32 spots for designs each for female, male and furniture.

I was curious if you can break obstacles in another's valley that can't break them yet. My second account still has the big ice, I guess I'll try to visit my second account and break them.

Switch players can’t even access multiplayer for daisy’s shop :( glitches out every time and almost breaks the game.
