How Health and Damage should be in Fallout 4

Fallout 4 survival mode is barely a survival mode. Mods have tried for years to rectify this and extraordinary work has been done. In my opinion, however overall health and damage calculation was never quite figured out. Especially on the health side of thing. Mod either did too little or too much. Agony is a mod that does too little. But using it as a base, I think I have a mod idea that might finally hit the spot. The name? "Dying is easy, Living is hard"

My favorite Fallout 4 mod is still "War Never Changes" changes the perk system so that leveling guns increases accuracy instead of damage among other changes. Makes Super Mutants really tough since they have strong weapons and naturally bulky defenses

@@PapitoQinn My gameplay is augmented. But seriously low accuracy isn't unplayable it's just that higher accuracy is better for obvious reasons. I've mentioned Super Mutants being spongy but that suits them and Humans are appropriately killable. It allows for 'kill fast, die fast' combat which is always a plus for me in an action game

@@cyberninjazero5659 That's why the combo of True Damage and Scourge is so beautiful. Super muntants are bullet spongy IF you want them to be. The way it is by default is already great. Go fight supermutants if you want, but you better be packing at least 5.56 ammo going in. But best to just go with like .50 cal. But it's all customizable. Magnificent.

This is an interesting concept. True, Fallout 4 is more of an FPS than an RPG, so it would be interesting if they have a mod that would be in the likes of ARMA and more realistic shooters.

I don't know about ARMA. Like I said, let's not take it TOO far. It still needs to be Fallout 4.

Beats the cringe survival mode that is playing all of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, and I don't mean Tactics at all.

This seems to be a prevailing issue for RPG's, especially ones that incorporate FPS mechanics with Modern Arms in it. I hope they fix these issues for the next Fallout game, but this seems to he an industry issue so I'm not holding out hope.

I've had very similar thoughts with the same mods, and I am currently learning how to do scripting. Has anyone used BLD with wasteland ballistics, wasteland medic, and wasteland wound care, instead of agony? I would like to avoid wasting time. If so, what was your experience with the mods?

i would recommend not using those mods and use true damage/caliber damage overhaul and scourge, along with unleveled commonwealth mods with live dismemberment and a headshot damage multiplier

I agree. I already use all that. Except for live dismemberment. I've used it before and it can go too far and cause some issues, for example with settlers.

I personally would not like this because enemies can essentially have about to a certain extent. They just need to make the games better. Simple.

Yeah, it's just stupid then. Which is why a mod like "Unlimited Survival Mode" is so crucial. It lets you unlock a bunch of things in survival. Chief of which would be quicksaving.

Sure, let's just encourage fucking up Fallout more with more pushing away from its RPG roots and moving more into "generic shooter" territory. /s This might work to make the shooting good, but all it does is make me feel bitter at how the franchise has gone in Bethesda's hands.

@@PapitoQinn And? Bethesda likes to takes mods & concepts from the fanbase that area easy to implement as the baseline for future games. A mod like this (like the litany of others that exist for the Fallout games) ends up telling Bethesda "hey, the RPG roots are unsalvageable and you shouldn't try; the shooting is more important so focus on that". Doesn't matter what game it's for (Fallout 4 is not some exception where its RPG elements shouldn't matter or where shooting / survival is actually more important. It is still another Fallout game where RPG elements should be at the forefront).

I think you can have both. But Fallout 4 specifically can only do one well. So you might as well make it do that one thing better. Yes, it's too bad that Bethesda sucks at making RPGs. It's a damn shame. Oh well.

@@PapitoQinn In theory you can have both, but one has to come first (people don't play the KotOR games for the gameplay, for example). And the mindset of "well, might as well do that one thing better" comes at the cost of ensuring that the other thing is done worse.

My mindset is going to do nothing to influence the decision of a multimillion dollar company. Yes, we all want Fallout to be a better RPG again. But that's not gonna happen with Bethesda. I don't know what else to tell you, man. It's time to give up.
