Love your shed so far, you may have made a few learning curve type mistakes but the one big mistake you didn't make that many do was taking the time to correct things. I work construction for many years and unfortunately there's a saying that's quite common in the trades, "Can't see it from my house" , which leads to many corners being cut either from scheduling concerns or just laziness. Glad to see your project isn't encumbered with either of those. Great job!

You may have made some mistakes but I think the project looks nice. If you don’t point mistakes out no one will notice. Keep up the good work. 👏🏻👍

Thanks RG! I normally don't worry too much about pointing out my flaws but I thought it would make for a good video. I'm pretty happy with how things came out but wish I spent more time shopping for materials...that's where most of my problems were

Hi Rob! I recommend Sanford & Hawley for building materials. None of the problems you had with Lowe's would have happened with them. Great video.

Your building standards are different from here in Australia. We would have to lay a concrete slab, add noggins to your studs and use a tin or concrete tile roof. No ply and shingles here. Add drainage pipes around the shed, under the gravel too. We would also have a fascia and guttering for that size shed. The trusses would need diagonal support pieces but again, different building standards.... plus plans and approval needed. I'm not a carpenter, just a retired sparky. :) You always seem to be busy as well as getting screwed over by Lowes! They need to pick up their game. Being busy usually causes errors but making mistakes and paying more just gets written off to "training" but is the best way to learn and remember. I got zapped a number of times, it really makes you think next time haha ⚡️⚡️⚡️ It looks good though.😉🍻👍🏠

If this were a house things would be different but the rules for sheds are pretty loose

15/32-in x 4-ft x 8-ft OSB Sheathing That is what almost all roofs are sheathed with it cost lot less also. Drive by any new home build and you will see that on the walls and roof are osb. I only put my roof sheathing on when i have time to immediately put on the underlayment paper that way im dried in.

Over all the set backs and issues you had Rob I still think it turned out great so far! Have you made anymore progress this summer?

Stay tuned for next week to see progress. I'm happy with how it turned out given the fact I'm by no means a carpenter 🪚

My Dad always tells me, “Education is never free!” Based on the very minor mistakes you had, I’d say you got off cheap! ;-)

I can’t believe you didn’t set the base on concrete blocks. Even treated wood will rot eventually.

It's pretty standard practice to set on gravel around here. And even though this is inset into the bank a bit I get absolutely no standing water on the ground around the shed. It should be fine for as long as I plan to live here.

its fine looks amazing i struggle making staircase stringers so i buy 1 from home depot use it as template. every build there's wack im on a farm in 1986 we hired a "can do it all" contractor to doze the old rat infested turn of the century hog barn & grainery buildings to put up a 48x120 poleshed with 8" concrete same as you he had to add 7ft high fill on east end to this day it erodes i have to backfill every other year back 1980's it never rained main issue was he burried the debris from those old buildings under new footing all these years later concrete continues to settle there's a big 12ft x 30ft crack/dip in concrete floor about 12 inched deep (so far) NW corner noisy chipmonks live under there someday when i win powerball lottery will pump concrete raise the floor

Let me see,,,, do you have a screen cell phone? Ask it about exposure1; good to get wet during istalation. Oops 1 no footings Oops 2 NEVER PRESSURE WASH WOOD look it up on wood sites. there are plenty of bio friendly liquids for decks that will work on mold. Got that screen phone look it up. Ooops 3 thats on me. All in I think this project can make you better. You at least found out what a Drill is for! How to read stencils on wood, Studs are a select grade & length to make walls. Perhaps this old guy can give you this: "Why is there always time to do it correctly the second time?" Can't hardly wait till next year to see it fiished. Good Luck and be careful

Worked for Lowe’s 20 years. You could return that one piece that was wrong. Wasn’t your fault
