Yes. When non black people wanna change up their hair (straight, curly, wavy) it’s no problem, but when a black person does other black people call it self hate. I literally LOVE my Afro but lose curls will save me a lot of time and I think they’re super cute as well. It ain’t that deep
@CeraWorld

Yes because the majority of white people typically have straight curly, wavy hair. How can you sit here and listen to this woman saying that @if black women (specifically) can get looser hair then it’s a win for us” and not ascribe it to bring against your natural texture and compare it to white people, who majority of them have the textures you described? The majority of black people do not. You people are being disengenous. And for those who only want to wear that texture you cannot deny it’s because of mental conditioning to view that hair as the ideal. If it weren’t why aren’t black men en masse trying to straighten their hair? Yes, some do, but you do not see them wearing wigs over their hair 24/7. This isn’t to say that black men don’t have gang ups about their hair texture, they definitely do, but you people need to be honest, because not having honesty when it comes to this topic means the black community will never progress regarding this hang up over their natural texture. It is not a coincidence that in countries with close proximity to white people/have majority of white peoples or who were once colonized by them, a lot of them have been mentally conditioned to view their natural, afro texture as undesirable. Personally I don’t care if someone wears wigs or does whatever to their hair, but y’all cannot act as if these two things are the same. And that the love for doing your hair this specific way at the cost of health comes from no where and just “wanting to do a different style”

It is NOT self hate! It takes A LOT of work to keep up with our texture hair and there is nothing wrong with wanting looser curls due to how manageable it is. AND if people want to go that route then they should voice their personal insecurities and tell me that it’s all due to self hate! It’s human nature to dislike something about yourself and that’s okay. What can you do to improve it and what will help YOUR self confidence? Let people talk and get upset because you have voiced a way for another woman to look and feel beautiful! Keep doing you ladies! F*ck the bs! Blessings to you all! 🦋💕💜

Thank you for this. As black women we should create a space where we are allowed to look and dress the way we want, with out intense scrutiny. If we can have open conversations about our hair and insecurities, we can come up with solutions. That is how new ideas and industries are fostered.

Unfortunately, in some cases it is self hate. But, that self hate just comes from society’s ill perceptions sometimes mostly and a lack of diversity in media, film, Fashion, and arts. And also false ideologies.

I changed my hair from 4A/4B to 3A, I was straightening my hair every month or so without the use of a blow dryer, and just trying to straighten it as much as I could because I wanted my hair to be pin straight. Overtime my hair changed drastically from 4A/4B to 3A, but here's the the thing, when I chopped off all of my hair and stopped straightening my hair. My hair still grew out as 3A, even without any more heat being applied to my hair. Mind you, I've never had any relaxers on my hair, any treatments or anything like that. To this day after five years after having my big chop, my new growth for my hair today is still 3A and no matter what I do to my hair it has not gone back to 4A/4B. This for me has been a dream come true.

Crazy enough, the same thing happened to my hair. I'm not really into the hair type system but I can tell that My curls changed after I was straightening my hair a lot for some time. It's really weird, but this is the second time this has happened when I was a natural first after a few years my hair texture also change. I blamed it on because that the fact that my hair was more hydrated and moisturized. But a lot can change your hair texture, age, medication, diet etc

I was a straight natural since 2013 and always thought my curl pattern was 3b/3c. The last two years I went with no heat and chopped off my ends. Now I'm 4a/4b and adjusting to my actual texture. It grows quicker but gets tangled, and doesn't accept moisture as well. My mom on the other hand, is a straight natural with 20 inches of wavy curls. So natural hair can grow with heat.

I came here to say this! I was a straight natural until postpartum shedding took me out lol… I didn’t get stretch marks or gain any weight that I didn’t immediately lose with my pregnancies so I guess God said he’d snatch my edges instead. 😹 But I wasn’t done having babies so I started getting knotless braids consistently and when I finally took them out my new growth was 4c and it looked like I had relaxed ends! So I recently cut off all of the heat trained hair and now that I’m done having babies I’m starting over. My hair did EXTREMELY well for a straight natural living in Texas. Even with sweat it never completely reverted back to 4c. I used Janay Mickles method on RU-vid to straighten and pin curls and body wraps to keep it up. It would last up to 3w! Then I’d just put it in a loose ponytail or bun until wash day the 4th week or so. My hair grew like never before!

Yup you can, but acknowledge where the thought and the want comes from. It stems from self hating a part that comes from being black. It’s not the black communities fault. But the perpetuation is. And the delusion that comes from it. How is it a “win” for black women to have a looser texture? Would you also say the same if she was talking about skin blacking and skin color?

I feel like to change ur hair texture is odd. Cuz ppl keep saying type 4 hair is hard to manage but if u know how to take care of it it’s not hard at all. I just hate to see ppl put these chemicals in their hair like that cuz the majority who do it are black women. Nd I feel like those bad chemicals were purposely broadcasted to the black community. Also the excuse that it’s easier with looser curls I feel like is a lie black ppl tell themselves when they get texturizers to make it seem like the real reason isn’t what it is. The real reason in my opinion is that so many ppl hold so much value to loose curls Nd that bias way of thinking comes from this society that has an issue with texturism. I wish ppl in the black community could see that.

@@alicekal8506 hey a good moisturising one is avacado oil, olive oil, caster oil with peppermint oil.... the one that grew my hair quite quickly in the past,( a clear difference in 4 weeks), was simply caster oil and peppermint oil. People just want more manageable hair and as beautiful as black hair is it is usually not manageable even if you get it soft there is alot of work to get it styled especially if your hair is kinky, thick and you have sensitive scalp plus aren't talented with combing it in various hairstyles. I started using henna recently and am thinking of using it to loosen my curl pattern as I am aware my hair will be much easier to manage and take less time to style, wash and do overall.
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 3 года назад
Thank you for understanding. I still have really curly hair, it’s just looser now. It’s easier to manage. I originally did this as an experiment, but now I’m probably not going back to my regular routine. This routine makes my hair Way easier to deal with. 😂
@Introvertsan
@Introvertsan 3 года назад
@@DynamicTouch I totally get it my hair has been so hard to comb from was a child as it's very thick, long and curly it would break combs and brushes the women around me had similar hair but could not manage theirs either so they resorted to cutting it off or keeping it low, in high school I processed it went back natural and its difficult to style still. I have watched countless youtube natural hair videos but it's just not my forte. I totally get where you are coming from.
@zarinahmensah1610
@zarinahmensah1610 2 года назад
I don’t understand why so many black women use that as an excuse. “It’s not manageable” it is if u know what ur doing. What were black ppl doing for hundreds of years when texturizers weren’t a thing? They made it work Nd they did it well. Their hair was healthy. Nd now we have this toxic chemical that damages hair Nd it’s sad how many black women are using it. We were given the features we have for a reason. I don’t believe we would be given something that we couldn’t handle.
@Introvertsan
@Introvertsan 2 года назад
@@zarinahmensah1610 It is not manageable if it were people would not struggle with it whether or not you want to believe that. Not only is it hard to manage whether it's styling, combing, etc it is complicated and takes a lot to look a certain way it comes in a lot of textures and people often have several textures on their head which reacts differently, your hair even though you take care of it can stop growing to certain lengths because it tangles a lot, it takes tedious amounts of time to untangle so it doesn't break then you have to deal with high porosity and low porosity with all of that to figure out what works for you. Is the hair beautiful yes but it is very hard to manage and very high maintenance and to say otherwise is fictitious. You can't just go to bed run your hand through it and go on about your business and repeat.
@Introvertsan

@@DynamicTouch I get what you are saying completely. My hair was natural for the majority of my childhood and teenage years and it was very difficult to handle it was until I permed it became manageable. Hi sariah, I achieved it once by accident. Now I am conducting an experiment to replicate these results using different methods. So far it’s going great! I would like to complete this process before recommending anything to anyone. Also, my title says hair experiment ep. 1. If you stick around it might be worthwhile. Or you could go get a keratin treatment or curly perm and it will do the job instantaneously if that is what you are looking for. Ep 3 will be coming out soon. If your hair naturally responds to heat like that and it works for you, I say just run with it. From one individual to the next, hair varies and behaves differently so you'll find some naturals with heat-altered hair that looks and thrives beautifully without even needing to be babied.
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
Yes, some hair naturally does well with heat, while other do not. Over the course last couple of years while I was heat training, I believe that most people will need to "baby" or be careful with their hair do to the fact that most people are heat training from their homes. This shifts the dynamics because with at home haircare, there is more room for negligence and error, which most professionals would not make. So, moving with caution at first is best.

I have 3c 4a 4b hair that is healthy and virgin. I have had heat damage that caused me to cut waist length hair off. I also had color damage. For me the heat damaged hair was expensive because I was trying to fix it because the hair pattern was uneven. The color damaged hair was easy to manage but so delicate that it broke off all the time so I was continually treating it so I understand the comment when she said it isn’t easier than your natural pattern. I did like my natural pattern but after seeing how much work the damaged hair was, when I got my healthy hair back, I learned to actually appreciate it. I don’t think a lot of people dislike themselves but I think they don’t appreciate healthy hair until they struggle with unhealthy hair.
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
I fully agree! You constantly have to over protect your hair due to the damage. Any small mistake can lead to your hair easily breaking off. With my natural pattern, I didn't have to do half the things that are in my current routine. Your experience is my exact experience until my sister took over my routine. thanks for sharing your experience and commenting. I am learning so much from comments like yours.

Love the things you said because I really love my curl pattern but it’s very time consuming and I have extremely thick hair so to slick it back takes more product and then it’s like it’s not healthy to wash ur hair to much so my wash days on Saturday. And basically I’m in high school so say I put my hair in a bun for the week there product on it every day, which makes detangling and washing long and then more product can cause acne so I’d love to use less and then it would be nice to be able to go out and not have to overly protect my hair from water because (shrinkage) there’s so much more I could add on I’d just say don’t think we want hair changes out of hate pplsss it’s just for convince 😩
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 3 года назад
I agree, when your hair is heat trained, you end up using way less product. If you use too much product, it will just slide off the hair strands and onto your clothes (I’m speaking from experience.) Concerning slicking down 4a-4c hair: Normally when it comes to slicking 4a-4c hair down, it is usually more about technique then about product. With the right technique, you can use less product and get great results. Seeing that you are still in high school, have you tried to incorporate more braided styles? Not necessarily braids with extensions, but braided styles like the one I showcased in the video “Can’t afford a headbang wig? Try this instead.” This hairstyle is cute, versatile, and most important not time consuming. you wouldn’t have to worry about shrinkage. After 2 weeks of wearing this hairstyle, you can then take the half wig off, carefully unravel the braid in the back, and wear the back in a cute, stretched braid out (While keeping the braids in the front intact).

I TRIED IT AND IT LITERALLY WORKED Heres how: Okay so background: My hair is (or Was) 4c, very thick as i have been growing it protective style using grease How I did it: I decided to try being heat trained, so I bought a titanium flat iron, heat protectant and silk therapy. Washed my hair and applied the products, used a heat straightening brush to blow out my hair. Got it real straight. Went in with the flat iron at 450 i think (idk why i maxxed out, my hair literally smelled so burnt, so don’t do what i did) i did a few passes in some areas, idk why, i was moving reckless. I then went back in with more passes to give it some curls. Then i put a plastic bag over my head and slept w bonnet on top. Woke up the next day and somehow water got into my plastic bag (idk why…) so i woke up with fluffy hair. Washed it a few days later and used aussie curly conditioner. Thought my hair was done for but i seen my pattern and it was wayy looser. I actually wore it in a wash and go bc the curls were actually stretched out and didnt shrink as much as it used to. My hair looks soo cool now. It’s 4b with 4a in some areas ( and some 4c in the area that got water in it ) I’m gonna be careful because i do not want to actually severely damage my hair. But yeah thank you dynamic touch for making this video. Its a super cool experiment that I am glad i tried. I just need to find out how to keep my curls consistent. update: yall, back when i first commented this a year ago i was wylin and burnt my hair fr, its been one year and a lot of the looser curls in my hair fell out lol, but i been wearin wigs and doing protective styles so its grown back a bit, but now my hair is uneven cuz of the burnt loose curls. i still have straight strands in my hair from last year and ion wanna cut it or my hairs finna be short short, but yea guys dont do what i did, follow what the girl said in the comment below. i think ima do heat training but ONE PASS and slowly as dynamic touch suggested. to be really raw and honest ion like my 4c hair bro its tough, im tryna get 3b 😴😴
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
Hi @Bethany, Here at Dynamic Touch, we discourage rapid results for long term success with heat training. This is due to the fact that the faster the curl pattern is altered, the more likely an individual will experience negative effects. This is why I chose to cut my hair 2 years ago to go on this natural hair experiment even though I had not experienced breakage during that time (my hair was growing, I was able to retain length, I did not have split ends, but how it was done was not replicable, nor effective for long term success). Please take a look at my current videos that compare my hair before (When my hair was heat trained all at once) vs. Now (my hair is heat trained over the course of 2 years). Here is the link to that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Lzh0aL9tBw.html Please take the time to watch this in order to see the difference. I wanted to develop a safe way of heat training that could be applied to many women, that was slow, safe, and effective with little to no negative effects. My goal was also for women to see incredible strides with length retention while heat training in order for women to choose this way of styling hair instead of other harmful chemicals. I wanted to go as slowly and as safely as possible. It actually took me almost 1 year to start seeing major changes in my curl pattern this time around. This ensures the likelihood of length retention. This is also one of the major reasons why our program is not 7 days, or 21 days, or even 60 days. It’s a one-year program to ensure the best results and to give each person a strong foundation in the basics. A strong foundation will lead to extreme length retention and growth 2,3, 4 and even 5+ years down the line. There is also the issue of managing two textures/patterns, which also comes with altered curls. If not navigated correctly, this can also lead to extreme breakage and major setbacks within 3 months and onward from when the curls were initially altered/loosened. That is why we encourage the use of our program at thewaitingroomnhb.com. Our program is something that has never been seen before. Still, we wish you well with your individual hair journey. As always, we do offer resources on our site, feel free to look into those as well. We will also continue to develop and create new resources for those who are heat trained or choose to wear their hair in a straightened state. We will keep you posted via RU-vid, so feel free to stay with us for more interesting, new resources. Thank you for commenting and sharing your story! Wishing you the best, Dynamic Touch

Hi, I waited 6-7 months after cutting my hair to start heat training. With heat training, you still have to deal with your natural hair, so I would use that time to master your original hair texture before attempting to heat training. With heat training, you will be dealing with multiple textures until you stop. Results vary for everyone, I am 9 months in and my curls are pretty much looser and intact (between 3c -4A). Concerning how much heat I am using, I will be addressing it very soon. Please subscribe if you are interested.

I have actually been natural 99% of my life. I do not have any difficulties dealing with my natural texture/pattern, nor do I have toxic thoughts/self-hating thoughts about my hair. I have actually grown my hair long while fully natural. but I see where you are coming from. This experiment has truly allowed me to learn that natural hair is very versatile, more than then we thought and more than what is showcased by western society. Please check out my playlist to see my full journey. At our brand, TheWaitingRoomNHB, we focus on Christ centered haircare, although all are welcomed. Women who might be struggling with their hair go into TheWaitingRoomNHB, and come out with a totally different view of their hair. Heat training is not just about changing one's curl pattern, it's much deeper than that. We have provided women with a heat conscious approach, as well as promote hair independence, due to the fact that 75% of hairstylists can't be bothered with 4 textured hair, especially long 4 textured hair like I have. It's having a full appreciation of your hair in every state, without having to compromise the health of your body with toxic chemicals. We are canceling self-hate in the name of Jesus! Thank you for your comment and thank you for stopping by.

I know everyone’s experiences are different, but in my experience, I did something similar to this and it’s the worst thing I could’ve done for my hair. Y’all can do what you want, just I’m seriously encouraging y’all not to do this. It was MUCH more difficult to care for my hair when I used to do this than it is now, healthy and in its natural state. If this worked well for you, then good for you. But this is seriously not gonna be good for your hair in the long run. And I honestly don’t want to hear anyone say “well it’s not my hair, why should I care.” I care cuz I don’t don’t want anyone to experience what I experienced.

For my specific hair treatments, I used a protein treatment. It’s not Simply about the products or treatments though, but more about your approach and what exactly you can do to get there. I plan on speaking more on this later. Also keep in mind that I’m still in the experimental phase. Yes, I actually have continued to flat iron my hair for the past 10 months. For treatments, I made sure to support the hair structure with proteins treatments. But it has been a year since I came out with this video and my routine is completely different. It has changed in a way that allowed me to reach mid back length hair. I plan to release a video showing my final results later on this week. My sister jasso, who is behind my current techniques/routine, owns the rights to those techniques so there is only so much I can share. She actually launched her site. @DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
Any regular drugstore heat protectant is fine. I've tried a $30 heat protectant and it is literally a scam, lol. I do not heat train with grease, but I have heard of women who do. Quick tip #1: Do not rush when you are doing heat training! I have gotten a lot of comments recently saying that I am encouraging women to flat iron their hair every day, this couldn’t be further from the truth! We encourage heat conscious haircare. It’s always best to take your time. Slow and steady wins the race. Feel free to check out my playlist to get an idea of how my routine has changed. ru-vid.com/group/PLSMRYEyKi74gocIP6sAO-jrgwWBEc__Q7 Quick tip #2: Find what works for you. There is a lot of information and different ways to heat train, just like there are a lot of ways to be natural. Find what works best for your hair and your lifestyle. Think outside the box and get creative! If you need help on where to start, check out our beginner flat iron manual! It will whip your skills into shape! Flat ironing is not something that comes naturally to everyday people, it is one of the things that gives our clients a lot of trouble due to the fact that the everyday person is not a hairstylist, and black women do not flat iron their hair as often as other groups of women. Just like handling a curling iron can be daunting, learning to properly use a flat iron can be as well. Click the link below if you are interested! www.thewaitingroomnhb.com/zion-2/p/the-flat-iron-manual Hope this helps! Would love to hear how it works out for you! Best of Luck!

Olaplex heats with heat damage. They have a patent bond rebuilding technology so severe heat damage can be fixed. You won't get 4c hair back but like she said 3c or 3b/a. Trying to do the new growth the same way would get annoying after awhile like she admitted
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
Hi! Alot of people believe that Olaplex is the key to heat training, but I don't believe it is for all people, including myself. Heat training is not as simple as one might think, there is many ways of going about it. There are so many variations to heat training. The type of heat training I do focuses on maintaining the curl integrity for as long as possible by using heat conscious methods developed by thewaitingroomnhb.com. (Some women do not care for their curls and that's ok as well. That is their form of heat training). Please check out my heat training journey playlist to see what I am referring to. ru-vid.com/group/PLSMRYEyKi74gocIP6sAO-jrgwWBEc__Q7 I actually now know proper techniques when dealing with two textures. I even created a hair serum called The New Growth Softener Serum to help black women easily deal with this. It was made with 4 textured hair at the forefront, not as an afterthought! Thus, women have been raving that it helps to keep straight hair from breaking (even for those who are not heat trained and just want to wear their hair straightened with a flat iron.). It will be launching soon, stay tuned! I have even managed to keep my hair straight for two months without re-flat ironing it! We are changing the game on this channel! Thanks for commenting and stopping by our channel!

I have 4a and 4b and since my hair is almost down to my waste I’ve noticed the curl pattern have loosened. Is that normal?
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
Hi Niecy! Yes, it's normal for your hair to be weighed down by the added length from growth (the cause of your loosened curl). If you continue growing your hair pass waist length, it will only increase with time. Loosening from weight of the hair is also exaggerated once your hair has been under water.

I wonder if your texture “changed “ because you took care of your hair differently , let me just explain.So I had cut my hair about a year ago and some change and when I first started taking care of my hair it wasn’t dry anymore and my curls started to come through a lot more than they did before .Nit only were the protein treatments , conditioning treatments , oils and twisting my hair ( and leaving it that way for a while ) were helping my hair but it was also defining my curls .When your hair isn’t healthy and it’s dry , you hair can sort of appear to be 4b or 4c which is probably because your hair is dry and not as healthy as it could be.So personally I think that heat training might work, but HONESTLY I’m thinking that because you started to take care of your hair , it became healthier and more hydrated and oily.Just remember that finer textured hair also tends to have a lot more moisture and oil in it , so it’s not just straighter or looser , but it’s also less dry and frizzy. I’m not saying that you did this but it’s a high possibility that your hair did what mine did.I also stopped taking care of my hair after a while just to see why or how and I honestly think it was bc of how much I was hydrating and training my curls .
@DynamicTouch
@DynamicTouch 2 года назад
I see where you’re coming from but there is a clear distinction in my case. I have been natural most of my life, so I already knew everything about how my hair behaves in its natural state. My curl pattern is the same as my sister (who has waist length natural hair.) You can see her texture in her review of coco black naturals hair gel. I knew my hair had changed when I went to revert my curls after my sister had pressed my hair and it did not revert immediately. Keep in mind, this is a few years prior to my hair experiment (which I am currently conducting now). It took a couple of washes and babying my hair for it to result in a texture that was 3b-3c. I also had no clue how to take care of this new texture at the time, so I just kept my hair in braids. What you mentioned above could be the case for many women who are just discovering how to take care of their natural hair. So if anyone sees this comment, it wouldn’t hurt to try assessing your hair as the commenter has stated.

I agree with you. I started using the TGIN honey milk leaving in conditioner and their honey mask, and apart from regular hot oil treatments, this is the only thing that's making my hair show its curls. My hair texture is way more defined... I also found a black hair specialist on Instagram, and he made a comment about how before slavery when u look at the history is wasn't normal for our hair to be referred to as frizzy, brittle, dry, or even kinky. He also mentioned that the white people would refer to our hair as soft wool, and it was normal for us to have nice soft hair as Africans... I guess we are all unlearning bad hair habits and finding more natural beauty ♥️

It's tough having multiple patterns. It would be very interesting to see how heat training could help with matching your hair patterns.

Hey girl i was thinking abt doing this and like transitioning my hair to 3a/3b but wouldn’t i have afro textured roots? Would it look weird like with afro roots , how did u deal with this? U are so beautiful btw❤️❤️❤️

Hi love, I am sure your gorgeous as well. Yes, you would have afro textured roots. It would not look weird because Your hair would look like a gradient of curls if done correctly. Sometimes others rush and that can lead to limp looking, stringy, hair. But I am sure those with that kind of hair do not care for the integrity of the curls. Length and straight hair are more important to them, which is fine as well. Everyone has different goals. The fact that your roots are 4c will be mostly unnoticeable to on lookers. Only you will notice it, especially when you are washing your hair. Just be careful because If you don’t manage your roots correctly it can lead to extreme tangles and breakage. it happened to me a couple of months ago. Also, do not forget that you will be using gels to define your curls. That helps with the curl pattern.

I'm glad you found something that helped you achieve the results you wanted. I have always been afraid of wet to dry flat irons, it's nice to see someone who knows how to use it.
