This is very interesting. Somehow this showed up on my feed and I genuinely liked the way you went through the process. Having gone through some of the videos, I wish we had some of this information back in 2008-2013. I'm a waterloo Computer engineering alumni, class of 2013, was an international student and now work as a Product manager.

This was very motivating to hear. I may not have the grades now (I'm in grade 11) but I'm doing whatever I can to boost them. I know that I already have a lot of creative talents and loads of extracurricular to back me up but it's really just down to marks that I feel drags me down (I have an avg of 80 when I should get it to at least a 90).

I got 94 in maths and 84 in physics and 93 in chemistry with a total of 90.1 %. I have weak EC's and none of them are from 11th and 12th (mostly due to covid and recovery). Do you think I stand a chance. The only big achievement I have is that I qualified JEE advanced in india with an All India Rank of 24000 (even though it is just normal and I screwed that quite badly). Do you think I have a chance at mechanical engineering?

Since nanotechnology is not as competitive as other programs do you think that it would be possible to get into the university with a 90% average and adjustment factor of 20%😭, the adjustment factor is what's scaring me the most. University is a little different than high school. In university, I tend to to study like a few hours day (3-5 hours) when there’s no exams, but when it’s exam season, I study around 10-12 hours a day. Exam season is usually 2 weeks in middle of the semester and 2 weeks at the end of the semester.

yo idk if ur gonna see this, but I just had a quick question. So usually throughout highschool career i could maintain a 90-92 average with like 1-2 hours of studying everyday. So, cuz of what u said, i wanna bump that shit up to a 95+ but i didn't know 100% how to do that. My only question is, do u think "# of hours of studying = your mark" or is there more to it for gr12?
@TamerShaheen
@TamerShaheen 3 года назад
I think that’s true to some extent...but there are things u can do other than studying to help ur grades go up. First, befriend students who r a year older than u and ask them for a copy of their tests...that way u can use those tests as practice when ur studying. Usually teachers don’t change the test much between years. Second, in ur school...try to rearrange ur schedule so that u have “easier” teachers teaching u.
@TamerShaheen
@TamerShaheen 3 года назад
These small hacks will help u get a couple more percent on ur overall average...but don’t replace them with studying or doing a ton practice questions.

I have heard this time they are accepting people in CS Co-op with grades 98-100% for all students due to the high number of applications and rejected qualified candidates as well this year (Fall 2021). Is it true?

@@TamerShaheen Ah, then it could just be them rejecting due to not enough seats available. My son with 97.5% predicted grades (CBSE) rejected from CS Co-op. And there were quite a few 97-98 average students from Canadian high schools who got rejected. This year wasn’t that great for applicants :/

Hey bro, quick question. I did high school 4 years ago in another country and im applying right now. I did the prerequisites with a 96% avg but I’m concerned my grades back home are too bad (76%) avg. The grading system in my school was so hard and even the valedictorian got a avg of just 86% out of 98 students. Do you think it is worth it to explain it in the AIF? Or it’s meaningless for them. I also did 3 years mechanical eng in college with high Honors

I think it’s worth explaining it. You should also talk to the Waterloo admissions team since they would be able to answer ur questions better.

As he said at the start of the video, they really only look at Grade 12 marks. If you're applying for early admissions they will consider Grade 11 marks as well but other than that there's no real inclination for them to look at anything else.

My only issue with applying is that I have a 75 in 4u physics because the teacher was a total dumbass. However, I currently have 100 in advanced functions, 95 in biology, and 97 in chemistry. Is my physics grade going to be a big weight or just a minor set back
@TamerShaheen
@TamerShaheen 2 года назад
Your other grades are good, so 4U physics might just be a minor setback. With the grades u told me, ur average is 91.75%. Ideally, u wanna bump that up to at least a 93% or 94% and u can do that by trying to get really high grades in ur other 2 courses. Also try to talk about why ur physics grade was lower than expected in ur AIF as that may help.
