Besides the fact that you are an adorable, beautiful, and a down right refreshing positive black female image to see on my screen; I just love your personality. Side note: I am so proud of all you lovely ladies in this comment section for uplifting this black gem and being so encouraging to her with your fabulous comments. 👍😊
Idk who you are but you should start a channel based off of the approach you took with this comment alone: encouraging us young black girls to uplift each other! You honestly feel like a mentor I never had! Blessings :)
American Born It takes a special kind of grace to be humble and take compliments as encouragement. Hopefully these comments are encouraging for her and they won’t build up her ego. There’s nothing wrong with positive affirmations but I do get what you’re saying.
Ppl don’t realize that their hair will grow if they basically leave it alone. Stay away from hot comes and chemicals and the hair grows a centimeter every month. So that would be 10 centimeters in 10 months without cutting it!!!
I love how candid she is about how she felt in wearing her natural hair. This is the struggle finding confidence in our hair. You go girl!!!! I mean you GROW GIRL! Hair, Mind, Spirit ✊🏾
Huge struggle with confidence...but I'm determined to get there...and I wear my hair in short twist bout anywhere from 6 to 8 inches long. Sometimes I feel like I'm about to go up under the table in shame...I do the walk of shame. At other times I hold my head up sooo proudly. I can say though w/o doubt I'm growing. Cause I've seen the time I'd be in tears.
@@pearlljewels7330 i relate to you so much, people would get on me for wearing the same style(twists) all the time and that on top of my own insecurities really messed with my mental..but i stuck it out and my hair grew. Now those same people want tips, and i love my twists but it's getting harder to keep them in now that my hair is longer lol. Stick it out and the results will come, when i was at my lowest i just kept thinking 'time and consistency'. Hope this helps in some way, much love.
@@pearlljewels7330 baby DONT EVER , NEVER hold your head down or be ashamed about NOTHING GOD gave you.you are beautifully and wonderfully made & GOD said EVERYTHING HE made was good.Be confident in all things it strengthens you & draw confidences to you if you put it out you will get it back then the haters will drop their heads in shame for hating on someone as beautiful as you no matter the hair sis !! PERIOTTT!! love every natural kinky, curly, coily strand of hair on your head LoL 😂 & LOVE yourself MORE!! be blessed💃
@@mightystrong5484 PREACH!! It BAFFLES me how people are ashamed of the hair that GOD gave them attached to their scalp but won't think twice about wearing a wig/weave.
s o u l o i s m heyy two questions: do you braid/twist the hair when it’s freshly washed or when it’s blow dried or anything else? and do you section them like box braids?
I’ve been natural for five years and this is the first year where I’ve seen my hair decide to flourish. It’s because I let go of the secret shame I had about wearing my natural hair, genuinely believing that my prettiest self was wearing a wig. My mini twists and I have gone through a raggedy spiritual journey that all my classmates (currently in uni) gave me a sideways glance. Asking me if I let myself go, but the reality was that the change in me was so fundamental. I can’t wait to see what my hair will look like in ten months, wearing my hair as confidently as possible. Also will be my first time wearing it for my birthday on Tuesday ☺️
_Kimmy Beauty Co My hair has never been this healthy in my life. The same people who were being rude in class are now asking me for tips 😂 It has a lot more length, shine and elasticity. It’s the first time in years I feel like my hair and I are understanding each other.
@@SuperElise21 How long do you leave your mini-braids in before you re-do them? Do you wash and condition the braids while they are in? If not how do you maintain them?
@@scorieshair Hey! I leave them in for two weeks at a time. I used to do only one week when I first started because they would get so frizzy (they were short and I was new in technique). Now, I (try) to moisturize them daily with water and a small dollop of Africa's Best Shea Butter curls (v affordable!). The intention is to give them a quick rinse every week with a little bit of clay, conditioner and a deep conditioner. Back in with the curl cream and then tie it down with a durag. They look shinier and brand new depending. Take them out the following week for another full wash day and repeat. It goes by quickly and my only maintainence in the week is leave in and a durag. My hair has grown a decent bit too since the original post. The routine is sustainable and easy to me.
Me🙋🏿♀️. I decided to do protective styling for 1 year. It started a week ago. I love my mini twists so much😍 P.S. I no longer care what people think of how I look in twist😁
@@nalungaplzotherepisodesdeb6435 - I changed over to keeping my hair moisturised and retaining the ends of my hair/trimming when damaged and using protective styling (twists and mini braids). Stopped using heat in my hair over 5 years now too. My hair is past my collarbone and shoulders/ touching my back now, after years of struggling to grow it past my collarbone.
@@lifewithzinnah sorry for the late reply. I noticed when i started braiding without extensions, my hair could was able to grow in its most relaxed state even while braided. The stress to conform your texture and the stress on the scalp was a lot less. The absorption of products increased because it is only applied your strands. The added joy of learning the actual movements of your crown is beautiful
@@spongina1767 so late on replying. I started from neck length. I would put my short mini braids in gray or white permrods and let the curls naturally drop for the first six months until i reached full shoulder length. As my hair relaxed from the trauma of extensions, heat and unhealthy products, the growth rate increased and i added ponybeads to protect my ends.
I think girls who wear plaits to make it look like their natural hair is also beautiful. Some women wear weave dont try to make it look like natural hair..they just want it on their heads..🙉🙈
This is a great channel for young black girls to watch because your confidence and encouragement to love your natural hair is such a great influence! And your honesty about feeling self conscious and not always sure about wanting to wear your styles out is extremely relatable and can help so many girls going through the same thing to remember that it's still beautiful to be natural and it always will be
2rueLIFE wow thank you so much❤️❤️i am definitely all about black girls young and old loving their hair and i could only hope to be an encouragement to them thank you I appreciate that so much!
This is a great channel for young white girls to watch too. Am white, with straight blonde hair, pale skin and blue eyes but I like to watch beautiful people no matter what they put on their chanel 😂😂 and it is great to learn about other culture since am Slavic and white. Learning about other helps you to understand them better.
Yes, I agree. My daughter was getting teased in middle school about her locs and i told her that her hair is more beautiful than any of them because it's her own hair. As opposed to these poor girls that don't have the time to take care of their own hair and put weaves in it at the drop of a hat. Her hair was down her back and gorgeous and we have to teach our children to love the hair that comes out of their scalp!!!!
She’s so adorable lol. I like how she’s telling us the protective hairstyle she did instead of like other RU-vidrs that try to get us to take hair pills and use hella products
"You know when people treat you different when you have a different hairstyle?" YESSS SISS ,WE DOO😭😭❤❤and the struggle is REAL . Is aight tho 😊because our attitude towards our hair should always be good regardless . "IT'S YOUR HAIR" exactly and that's on period.
At first I thought, what a pretty girl. Then, with the photos at the end, I was like wow... she's a pretty girl, a lovely lady, and a fine-ass woman who'll be a knockout even when she's 85... all at the same time. (I'm a super-grown a$$ woman who's old enough to be her mom, so I can say that with simple ease!) Stay sweet.
I'm in my 30s, natural for 4 years next month, and I live in twists. I alternate between rope, loose, mini, and chunky twists and let them out for special occasions. You looked very cute in your twists!
@@e.b.0001 Don't know who are the black men you know cause mine would be freaked out if one day I turn up with a weave. My mom has been natural for all her life and my 3 brothers repeatedly criticize my sisters and I for "spoiling our beautiful hair" when one of us girls cut our hair off (even my 4 year old nephew hated my low cut hairstyles) or relax our hair in the past. I said that to say these boys who grow into men are born of black women who will do everything to avoid wearing their natural hair, so what do you expect? Of course they will grow up wanting the same wig/weave/braid wearing females they are familiar with. Ever thought about it like that?
@@e.b.0001 Lol..... Um, it sounds like your perception is based off the lies they try to sell you on t.v. and the media. I'm a black man. Most of us *real* black men love black women and when we see them with their natural hair, we don't want any other race of woman because no one can duplicate the black woman's natural beauty, not even through surgery. The reason why you don't see men like me in the media all the time is because we are too busy protecting our women. The media lies in its statistics. Most of us marry and stay with black women. And yes, I like them as dark as me. I'm flattered that other races of women want us black men but for those of us who are real and educated, we are sticking to black women. The interracial agenda won't work on us!
MikeyMike Big MikeyMikeBig It’s nice that you like black women but let’s be honest black women especially dark skin women like myself have the lowest rate to be married, and black men hardly married those type of women 🤔. Also, I noticed most “real” black men have more love for long kinky hair (4C/b) not short unless it has loose curls. Let’s be honest now.
@@e.b.0001 Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, Solange Knowles, Lupita Nyong'o, Brandy, Uzoamaka Nwanneka "Uzo" Aduba, Danai, etc...Some of these beautiful black women have either sported their natural hair/are dark skinned/romantically linked to a black man. How about just appreciating that the brothers are choosing black women to partner with, instead of this light skin/dark skin mess? So much divide in our race, it's amazing we can go forward. 👎🏿To say black men don't chose black women sounds so silly. I am a dark skinned natural hair millennial (from the Beyonce and Rhinanna era) with a black millennial fiancé. Instead of generalizing with your skewed perception, how about educating the males in your circle to appreciate a black woman irrespective of the shade of melanin and hair type? Behaviours are learned. To go back to my original point, if us Black women/men teach our boys/girls to appreciate and be proud of our natural beauty, won't they grow into adults with the same education/perception? Think this would not change? 🤔
I started wearing my hair in mini twists about 80-90% of the time when I lived in a small little town. I was insecure about it but I didn't know anyone there and definitely didn't care what they thought about me or my hair. Then I moved back to my hometown. When I moved back I was nervous to wear my twists out but I did it anyways because it really helped my hair. And now I still do to this day. Sometimes I get negative remarks but I still don't care. It's the best protective style and helped me achieve the most length
My daughter was homeschool 7-9 grade now a sophomore she decided to go to school. She's natural and she wears her two braided pigtails proudly. I deep condition her hair every 3 weeks and she gets her ends clipped bi monthly by a professional. Her hair is thick and growing longer and longer
Girl I’m literally doing mini braids and twists right now!! Look like A$AP Rocky and Travis Scott but that moistuuurrreeeee is unmatched. Keep up the videos! Maybe in a next video you can talk about how to do our own box braids! Would love to learn
You are so precious. Your skin is beautiful. I’m literally gonna braid my hair this weekend because of this video and I am so glad that you were confident enough to rock your hair, grow it and now people can’t say a damn thing! Do you girly! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow you are so talented and knowledgeable about your natural hair! At 10th grade I was putting a box perm on myself every two weeks! Where was my mother ! 😂😂😂 great video!
You are the cutest!! I love your personality and overall disposition. I think you learned a valuable life lesson and that is: Do what works for you and don't worry about what people have to say!! You and your hair are absolutely beautiful.
I remember when I did mini twists I was so insecure to wear them out so I would put a head wrap on, but now that I watched this you gave me that extra boost of confidence to go outside with my natural hair and to embrace myself tysm for this
What a beautiful young girl she is, love your voice, skin, hair and face, young black queen :) I’m honestly so grateful for this video you made, your a great example for other young black girls to feel more confident in themselves, teaching them to love, grow and look after their hair more better
I wish I saw this two weeks ago when my mom was pressuring into relaxing my hair and won. ( It was natural and I was doing wash and goes which made it grow really quickly but my mom doesn't like my natural hair) Now I can't even stand to look at my hair. Your hair looks amazing❤
rain Drool aweee I know how that feels. I asked my step mom one day should if I should go natural or keep perming my hair and she really told me to keep perming it. I ignored her advice and now she tables turned, she’s lo longer perming her own hair because she see how thick and how long my hair has gotten without them.
@@jazminejohnson54 moral of the story is that you have to lead by example and march to the beat of your own drum! Stay strong and persistent sisters!!!!
That's a damn shame that their are moms out here making their children insecure about their own natural body and hair something u can't control that u should love . I would cut it all off and tell my mom off , it's your hair and idc if she is your mom , heck she's your mom yet is tryna make u dislike your hair , sad
Thank you for posting this video my daughter is 13 and she struggles with her own natural hair because she thinks its ugly. I reminder her everyday how beautiful her hair is and to embrace it. I shared your video with her and reminded her how important it is to embrace your own natural beauty, your video shows how easy that is to do!🤗👋🏽 thank you for sharing and your kindness.
Shannan Thomas oh my goodness that makes me so emotional because iv definitely been there and even to this day i look at girls kind of hiding their natural hair and just want to walk up to them and hug them and tell them how beautiful they are just the way they came out their mothers bellies. I hope i helped her be more confident about it. Tell her ppl might stare but only because they are admiring her but will never say it!❤️❤️❤️
I am 25, I wear mini twists during the summer as well. At first I was a bit self conscious about it but not anymore. Glad you don't care about what people think👏🏽
All these views. Congratulations!!!! Your video is what we’re searching. I used to wear sewins but stopped a few years ago. Thank you for your time. Keep thriving ✌️🏾❤️
I love this video and I love how confident you are about your natural hair. I love my natural hair, but honestly I'm so shy to wear it out as I wanna try different hairstyles besides box braids and seeing you so confident in just rocking different styles with your natural hair makes me pretty happy. I honestly shouldn't care what people think at my workplace and want to start doing other things with my hair to help it grow. I'll definitely be watching more of your videos
I grew to love my natural twists and people still hate on them but the moisture, maintenance and growth is undeniable, great job and I love your background, too cute ❤
I like your voice, and admire your courage to be what you want to be. I also wear twists without extensions, and guess what? I don't care want people think😂. Your hair looks lovely. Keep them flowing Honey
I’m currently trying this. It’s been 3 weeks. Can’t wait to take the braids out this weekend and see my progress. I already know it’s grown. I can feel it! Lol
Girl I do twists and I was ashamed of them for so long, but they really grow my hair! I'm also homeschooled too and I was so encouraged by your video! Love this! Ur so cute! 😂❤❤
Me too. My hair is transitioning and I realise when I wear my own hair in twist or plaits I feel self conscious and weird. And yesterday I really had to check that mindset and wear my hair confidently
Don't be ashamed of your twists. My hair is totally in twists. It's convenient and if I'm going somewhere, I can still fit a wig over it to make a run. I do think I will have these twists until December to see if there is some progress with the other things I'm doing such as rose water, aloe, rice water, wild growth oil, and MSM. Since March, I havd noticed that my hair is thicker.
girl you sound like a really good therapist for migraine and stress healing i literally closed my eyes while listening to this although this is outta context my migraines literally went out a bit... arigato queen
Just wanted to let you know Evia that your advice/tips worked. I have been doing mini twist and keeping them in for 2 days before wearing it out as a twist out and let me tell you within a couple of weeks my hair has not only grown longer, but the overall health and integrity of my hair has changed. Thank you so much 💜
I love all those braids styles. Wear it with confidence, people will love it...not that it matters what people think abt your hair. I'm glad you overcame and conquered your hair. You are beautiful and a strong young lady. I'm so proud of you and thanks for sharing those bomb hairstyles. I'm going to start doing them and hope my hair grows as beautiful and as long as yours
Girl your sooooo pretty and confident and that’s amazing. Don’t let anyone get to you, be yourself, be confident and keep growing your hair girl. You will flourish. Your a very beautiful and polite girl. Good job and keep up the good work you’ll go far in life🙏🏽❤️
I love how you enunciate and speak so eloquently. Many older vloggers/youtubers could learn a thing or two from you doll. Your twists were/are beautiful as are you! Great job young lady!
I really do love her confidence. Just finding this video all the way in 2019 lol, but I'm happy I did because I didn't only find the video but also the whole channel.
I can't believe you are in high school. You look like you can pass for a ten year old. Our genes are amazing...Black sure don't crack 🤣 👍🏾 Great Video Btw
God Bless You Sweetie, you are an inspiration. You have encouraged me to wear my hair the way that is best for me and not to be concerned about what people will think or say. Actually, braids and twists are cute and appropriate, so I will be doing the same thing with my hair to ensure healthy growth. Thank you. 😊
Good for you, lady. Yes, some people are “heavy-handed” and don’t know how to adjust their tension when they braid. They just pull too tight. Kudos for doing your own hair. You are just lovely. It’s so amazing the wisdom you have embraced at such an early age (being delivered from peoples opinions). Good job, parents! 😇
When I was working out my hair was growing like crazy. (I think she mentioned something about sports) The combination of exercising, taking care of, and protecting protecting your hair could definitely give you that growth.
You are toooo precious! It's so awesome that your homeschooled. I homeschooled my two children all the way through high school. Your hair is very beautiful and I think you are such an inspiration to the younger natural generation. Be Blessed!
So beautiful and amazing! Yeeees sis, be confident and be yourself always 💖 So awesome to see someone in high school be so mature and loving themselves as is. 😊
@@saigejohnson719 I'm at mid-back in and almost nipple length in the front now. Granted I've since then stopped doing mini braids 😅 but I cannot take away from the massive contribution they've had in the growth and health of my beautiful crown🥰❤️
@@Sunshine_Hime From shoulder length to a little under what I just described. Had my hair hair shaped last year so I lost a lot of length from that. I hope this information is somehow helpful. If you'd like you could drop by my channel, I recently did a length check. You can also literally see how far my hair has come because I have videos of when I started my natural journey as well.
I agree, it feels like someone is ripping my hair out (looks awesome but feels like crap 🥺). I just need to find someone with a light touch, now that’s me. Your hair is beautiful so keep up the good work.
I love your personality and your hair O.M.G, I feel like my hair is sensitive too but I need to get over wanting it down all the time, you've inspired me. keep on being a beautiful young woman!
You are such a blessing. Loved your video. Don't let anyone throw shade at you. You know who you are. I am going to send this video to my niece who is a couple years younger than you. She is so self conscious about her hair and I want to continue to encourage her to be more confident in her hair. Stay true to you.
