Yeah, they're pretty heavy, I guess that's one CON! My teenager asks me not to pack her lunch in one this year because she's a senior and has too many heavy books. So I feel ya' I also use a Systema Cube - they're lightweight and have 3 compartments: amzn.to/2beN1om
haritdesai here are some blog posts I have written www.thatorganicmom.com/5-tips-to-pack-lunches-even-picky-kids-will-love/ and also www.thatorganicmom.com/packing-a-healthy-lunch-102/ MY PINTEREST board on Healthy Lunches is here: www.pinterest.com/thatorganicmom/healthy-lunch-box/ Hope this helps some. Wow, such healthy lunches. I just purchased this box since my son is just starting pre-primary. Very inspiring with great ideas. Wondering how you cultivated this type of healthy eating habits among your children? I'm looking for ways to do the same with my (now) toddler. He is not exactly a picky eater, but often simply refuses food. Were any of your children this way when younger? Feel free to respond to any/all of these questions if time allows. Thanks for sharing a great video!
Great Question! I have recorded several podcasts on the subject. Probably #3 would be most relevant. Also, I share a lot of information on the subject at my website www.thatorganicmom.com! I hope you will find lots of useful info there, and I have several Pinterest Boards you would find a ton of inspiration there. +Kranzinator28 I get where you are coming from. When I was a kid what I got was a nasty "free lunch" my parents never packed my lunch, weren't home when I got off the school bus, etc. etc. That may be part of why I do little things like this for my kids. When I made meals for our table, I follow the same rule you mention. I make one meal and everyone eats it or they wait until the next meal. Packing lunches is fun for me. Also, I want to pack something I know won't go in the trash can (waste of money)... so if I pack them all the same thing and someone throws it away that's a waste of money, so I don't mind sending what I know they'll eat to school ;) Thanks for watching.
One More question. Do any of the compartments spill over and 'commingle' with the other foods when your kids' lunch boxes are carried/turned on their sides? Are the containers pretty leakproof (I want to send applesauce)? Thanks again for the share!
Yes, they do "co-mingle" lol... I use a container with a lid if I have anything like yogurt, etc. Applesauce would most definitely require a leakproof container. Thankfully, Planetbox makes them to fit the particular box, so look for them on their website! Thanks and Good luck!
Do you recommend the Shuttle or the Rover for a 3 year old/preschooler? I am concerned whether the Rover would be too big for her, but I would hate to buy the Shuttle and then find out a year or so from now that I need to buy the Rover. :)
+Angel Jimenez I prefer the Rover because of the many compartments. I would think about how much food you want to pack. Do you want to pack several different items in small amounts or a couple of foods in larger amounts? My 4 year old carried a Rover to school in her back pack with no issues. Hope that helps!
Tresha Terrell The box comes with some containers that you would need to put the wet foods in. Putting it straight in one of the compartments would not work. I have one box that came with a glass container with lid, the other box came with two metal boxes. Both work great at keeping the wet foods contained. Thanks for watching, I hope that helps
My kids think it's hilarious that I told Shawna not to open the paper, then I did... hey, that's mom for ya' ... you know you wanted to see those Big and Little Dippers!
ThatOrganicMom I'm sorry if that came of rude but if u make them make there own lunch then they will get the hang of the mature level that there age requries
No, it's fine, I have learned my best mothering techniques from the advice of others. However, since I've launched 4 and only have 2 left and I don't have to pack any lunches now except for my husband (he's mature enough but he likes it when I pack his) it's a moot point :) Best wishes and thanks for commenting!
