Great video and really awesome setup. It's so small yet it's got everything you need and you're not giving up on sound variation or even comfort. It's cool to see how people find different solutions. Love it! And that Tritone!! you made me want one now. I think I'd try to kinda split it, using its different inputs for 2 or 3 sources. That could help with separation too.
Yoyo, thanks man! It's fun! I didn't even think about running stuff into the TriTone separately, now gotta try it out. I've been running 2 for a long time as a stereo master EQ. I don't show it, but it does add saturation at a certain point which could be super handy. Anyway, you still running Erica drums other than ModBase?
Great video! One thing about Pam’s: since 100% it’s 5v, you can set the level of the loop to be inside an octave (20%) or 2 octaves (40%) or, even better, to offset the loop to the octave you want (allways between 0 and +5). So, if you start with offset at 20% and then you set it to 0, it will drop an octave!
Cool Video! Quite interesting, especially because I struggled a lot building a small techno setup for myself. Of course I understand what you want to tell us in theory, but I guess it would help a lot if you could just show a few examples while patching. I can only speak for myself, but what I want to get out of these videos is the general behaviour of all of these modules in combination (which was probably the thing I struggeled with the most, having a lot of cool modules which didnt really fit together well, I guess). Only for a couple of notes, to get the point, then mute it again for talking. This would especially help with with more complex patches, like how the whole sound will change using the patched up WMD Atten for example. Keep it up!
Hi, first wanted to tell you that I just discovered your channel and it's a bomb! The techno bassline vid is killer, got a great sound. I'm gettin started with modular and I was wondering how do you keep in key, for example, the SY0.5 with the kick (or anything) in the setup? Is there any way to get back on a sequence you play in random mode on the pico (the one you use to control SY0.5)? [Let's say you record a track and then want to play it live]
Cool! Thanks for letting me know! I've found that key doesn't really matter with sub lines. Have you ever noticed that you play a tuned sub note and play it with say something else that's tuned and the sub bass will actually be a little sharp or flat? I'm not sure what the effect is, but it's something I've experienced in the box. Anyway, let's say you do want to make a sub line and keep the lead in tune or chords or whatever, you can just adjust the quantized scale and the root note of your CV sequencers and you should be fine though you will need to tune your OSC as well. Pam's has a quantized output you can set the scale to. Pico Seq can do both. Currently, I use an Ornament and Crime with both sides running TB3P0 on Hemisphere Suite and you can adjust all of those things and a few more. Highyl recommend checking that out and it's 8hp or you can get a 1U version too. There's no way to get those sequences back unless you record the CV and use that to play it back. HOWEVER, I believe Pico Seq can save a few sequences so peep the manual on that. I would check, but I no longer have the Pico Seqs anymore in favor of the o_C.
Hey man great video. The 4tten looks great. Was considering a lapsus os but this gives me everything I need and only 4hp instead of 10hp. I'm reading though that it's pretty large with a lot of people struggling to fit it into their case. Did you have the same issue?
The second one I got yes. It's just a little off kilter enough to make it tight. So it is right to the rails, and wouldn't fit between a certain row, but slid right into another row. So you can loosen your rails to get a hair of slack and retighten and it'll fit right in. Now knowing more of what I know I sometimes desire CV control in which case though I end up just using a VCA with sliders and it does the same thing. Lapsus Os is great too. Just depends on what you need. 4TTEN for small and tactile control of something, Lapsus Os for inversion and VCA for CV control.
Great system! You have a lot of the modules I've been considering for the future. Feel free to check out my recent videos for my Tiny Palette Techno Machine!
