I have been asked a lot of times how I prepare an MDF board for resin pouring. The method in this video has worked for me 100% of the time. I have no problems with this method, it is quick and easy. The epoxy resin flows nicely and gives and even coverage, drying without dimples. Additionally, it allows me to coat the edges of the MDF board and remove any drops from underneath with ease. I hope you find this helpful, please let me know in the comments if this has helped, or if you have any other methods of preparing your MDF boards?

Thank you for this tutorial. I was given about 10 8x10 MDF boards today and had no idea how I would use them or if I could use them in acrylic pouring and/or resin art. How lucky for me while surfing Utube for resin art tutorials I found yours on MDF boards. I’m just getting started and look forward to having fun with it.

How would you tape off a round MDF board? I am making a little side table with a round top. I was wondering best way to handle.

Hello Steve, I am having a problem pouring acrylic paint directly on my mdf for a coaster. After I pour the paint and let it dry, it bends a little bit. So after that I put resin and then the cork and the coaster its unstable. Do you have any idea that could help me with this. I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hi Steve, do you frame the MDF to prevent curling? If so, I'd love to see how you do that. I'm new to resin art and have just purchased a couple of 3mm thick sheets of MDF so very interested...

Hi Steve, what should we do to the sides of the MDF board so that there is depth in the final product and the resin doesn't pour over (i have big flowers on a flat MDF board and now I can't cover them all in resin without making a mess!) What should I put on the sides to give a box like look, please?

I was pouring resin on clear mdf, without any paint and after drying the paintings were all in some dust, it was so frustrating! I was reading, that acrylic paint collects more dust, is it true?

Thanks for your reply Steve, I’d love to see a video on that process if your up for it 😊 do you mount the board before the pour or after it’s cured. I also think thin mdf looks better. Really enjoy your videos !

If the paint is water based, poster colours or annything, Im afraid you cannot. However if its painted with oil based paint, such as acrylics, go ahead
