If I don't like the book cover, I'll buy it for my kindle so I can have all the pretty books on my physical shelf and it saves space for more pretty books.
Oh and i wanted to ask if you wanted to join me and TheEighthPotter in reading the name of the wind sometime in the future? And I know we all probably have huge tbrs to get through so just let me know when ur free :D also I feel like our reading speeds are very similar ;)
I'm going to start reading in English very soon :D. I'm going to start with "Shatter me", by Tahereh Mafi. The writing style is a little confusing, but I fell in love with the metaphors written by the author. Also it's a lot cheaper: in Spanish, the whole trilogy costs about 45 euros, and in English is just 24€!
TANKS FOR TAGGING ME, YO. This just reminds me of talking about books at work. AH GOOD TIMES. and there ain't nothing wrong buying a book because of its cover! I think its the graphic designer (or graphic designer wannabe ;) in you!
I buy books based off of their covers, too, but that's probably because I like to display my books a lot (to have the covers facing me rather than the spines) and I also like to read books with good covers because if I'm out in public and I'm reading, I feel like people "judge" me if I'm reading a book with a crappy cover; I don't know why, I just feel that way. You clicked the "Read more" thing, didn't you. Gotcha. ;)
OH MY GOD SAME! I started getting into reading when my teacher told me to read one of the books from the unfortunate events in the fourth grade and then I was ... Hooked :D by the way, I LOVE YOU!
Lovely tag video! A Series of Unfortunate Events was such a wonderful childhood experience for me. The series taught me what penultimate meant. It is bit of a strange series with unique characters, such as their creepy uncle.
Like your new bookshelf. I too just got one. Of course, my book buying is getting out if hand. Keep adding more and more. I've been watching way too many book haul videos.
I also became interested in reading when I noticed a friend reading A Series of Unfortunate Events. It's a brilliant series and I plan to read it again this year!
I have always been a reader, but did not start reading young adult, and teen books, till I was in 4th grade and read Divergent. I LOVED IT!!!! I would get in trouble from being up at midnight reading it on a school night.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events was my childhood obsession! I remember reading The Ersatz Elevator at night and I was so creeped out by the black pages. asdfgh So scared!
Let’s admit it the nice covers sale they make you more drawn to pick up the book and say o yeah i could read this, is subconscious we are attracted to nice things.so no guilt on preferring nice covers
OMG I cannot come close to naming every book I've read with unsatisfying or not fully satisfying endings! BUT I got REALLY invested in the Sisters Grimm series (btw read if you haven't) but the ending had to have been the WORST thing possible... however, when I actually finished the ending I was pleasantly surprised to find that the ending was so perfect that it literally felt more like fanfic and I was no joke like actually, I mean ACTUALLY-not "literally" or "actually" like when you read a post or comment or text and someone writes lol but you know they didn't REALLY laugh out loud but I mean I physically DID-scream and squeal like crazy!!!😆😝😆😝😆😝😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️💙🤓
The only book had made an impact on me and encourage me to read more was in 5th grade. I fell in love with Judy Blume's Fudge series. I think I liked it so much because I don't have younger siblings and Fudge was just crazy. lol Oh and Blubber as good too.
I'm a cover judger too. It can be nearly impossible sometimes. :p Also, I think most of us booktubers buy books way more often then we should. haha you can never have too many books!
Who doesn't appreciate a beautiful book cover? haha. Sometimes, it's disappointing when a cover is SUPER GORGEOUS and then the book is kind of mediocre, but at least it looks pretty on your shelf!
AHH Lemony Snicket is why I read too!! (Thought I should point that out) He is a funny witty man and I can never repay him for having me love reading. :)
I read the series of unfortunate events in the fourth grade, and they had all the books in the library and I specifically remember my teacher getting mad at me because I didn't have a book in class, because someone else had checked out The Hostile Hospital
This is a really cool tag. Ha, the NEVER got a laugh out of me. I wish I could say the same, but every once in a while I just can't help myself from taking a peek at that last page. Guilty.
I am sure this has been asked, but what are some books you where you were unhappy or dissatisfied with the ending? I specifically remember at the end of the Giver feeling as Sheldon Cooper puts it "I feel like I want to peel off my own face and tear it in two and then again and again until I have a handful of Sheldon face confetti"!
I almost always look at the last page to see how long it is and just read the last page while im there... Oops. Also I look ahead to the next page if in bored and then have to re-read the previously skipped page even though I know what happens.
"Tag you're it, hahaha" :D and when my parents tell me someday that I buy too many books I will just say: "UHM YEAH I am just supporting the book industry!!"
Haha, don't feel bad...I judge it by the cover too. Mostly I get the really creepy covers...I dig creepy stories. The more weird, and dark the better. Gosh, did u see the cover for, Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea?! My sister is reading it now, and I'm just ITCHING to read it! Gorgeous cover on that bad boy...haha! :D
You should have seen my reaction when Edward left Bella in New Moon. I was so shocked. Did not see it coming. I'm thinking no that's not supposed to happen! Lol
