I am a paperless student as well. I like to use GoodNotes 5 & Notability. You can import your PowerPoints and pictures into both apps and write directly on them. Notability also has a feature where you can record lectures while you’re writing. When you play back the lecture, it shows you writing in “real time”. I love this feature. Especially if I lose my thoughts. I can just listen to the playback and modify my notes. Both apps are a game changer. Thanks for another great video!!🙌🏾
I definitely want to try them! Which app would you prefer over the other, if you had to choose one? 💕 I want to give it a try before the semester starts! I’m leaning more towards good notes although I know notability has the recording ability 🥺
Dominique Dooley It sounds like you are a visual learner like me. Good notes gives you the ability to make more artistic notes. So if you are studying and trying to do more memorization, I would go with GoodNotes first. It is a bit more user friendly and easier to figure out. However, I choose to use Notability for the record feature during lecture, writing on PowerPoint and other imports, and organizing my quarter/semester. ( which you can do on GoodNotes as well). It really just depends on the class and how you plan to study for it. I honestly wish the two companies would merge because they are both excellent apps with slightly different features. But I think you should give GoodNotes 5 a try first and please let us know what you think. 🥰
If anyone gets apple products, if you show your student ID at the Apple store you get a discount! And they’re doing something currently where if you order a Mac or iPad, you get AirPods FREEE 👏🏽
Yes this is very true, I didn’t even think about this! Best Buy also have student deals! Pretty much every place has student deals you just have to ask.
I have one, but I’m not sure if it’s required or not. I know you have to confirm with them that you are a student(student ID etc.) So I’m assuming you may have to make an account-it’ll take less than 5 minutes though 😇
I peeped that you named one of your folders Dr. Dooley DNP and i just loveeeee that like i love your drive and mentality this nursing career is ALREADY yours and you’ve inspired me so much to go after my dreams😩😍😍 great video as usual!!
Yes, it’s already mine; I see it ❤️ I’m so grateful to be able to inspire you and others; that’s so dope 🥺 keep chasing what is already yours! Thank u so much Kiara!
daniko hi a nurse does not count as a doctor unless they either decide to go to med school after their BSN and become an MD or further their nursing education and obtain their DNP or PhD :)
Sabrina Betancourt ohhh thank you for answering my first question , I asked because the comment above referred to Dominique as Dr so I was curious , I thought they meant it as in doctor but I’m guessing it’s meant as a Dr eduction wise . The second question was about transitioning , because here in the UK you would have to go back to med school and start over but I was curious if I’m America there’s a system that’s easier , where you may just need to learn what you didn’t learn in nursing school maybe for another 2 years and because a doctor. Thank you in advance .
hey boo, I’m just seeing this comment but YES; the Dr. is referred to education wise as I will obtain by DNP. This is not the same as a MD. As far as transitioning from a nurse to a MD, I never looked into that bc I was never interested. However, according to google (my go to 😂) you can go from BSN to med school after completing the MCAT-the exam to enter med school. Of course after med school you’ll continue as the other med school graduates, residency etc.
This is my last year of nursing school and I'm so glad I went paperless! I never thought about changing the layout of the PPTs to add the lines....definitely gonna do that this year!
I have been binge watching your videos. Thank you for doing them, I have recently failed out of nursing school (but going back in October). I needed better study tips and habits, since I am a visual learner your videos have been great thank you again.
Loved this video! I’m in the 3rd semester of my accelerated nursing program and my iPad and Apple pen has been one of my best purchases! I use many of the same apps and techniques as you. If you ever do decide to purchase a note taking app I would suggest notability like you mentioned. They have a cool feature for note recording. Love your content! Keep doing your thing sis 💕
Yesssss, the iPad and Apple Pencil are definitely in my top 10 purchases of 2020 💗 & thank you, I will definitely try notability first! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video sis!
Omg YESS!! I recently got my iPad in March and it has CHANGED THE GAME for me when it comes to school!! Writing with my iPad sideways completely changed my handwriting that’s a great tip!! Also I love how you titles your school folder with your career goal title ❤️❤️ can’t wait to see you achieve your goals sis!!
Girl Apple should sponsor you because I know a bunch of people bought iPads and pencils after watching this video because I know I am! Good video! I love your channel! I’m binge watching rn! I’m also going to be a nursing student next year so these videos are really helpful! 💖💖💖
Hello Dominique! I am a huge Apple product owner and fortunately I have all of the accessories from the phone, watch, iPad, Laptop, and IMac. You’re right about getting the laptop or desktop after the iPad because the bigger items can do more than the smaller. Thanks for this video and tips!
Haha, same I have 2 iPads, MacBook , Apple Watch & AirPods! So I definitely suggest getting the laptop or desktop before the iPad as it is a necessity! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video 💗
Wow! I’m super excited for you! I graduate in December 2021 from LVN school! I wish you the best in all your endeavors! You go girl!! And thank you for this video! I’m trying to decide between buying an iPad Air vs an iPad Pro, I had the Air in my shopping cart, but now that I’ve watched your video, I’m leaning towards the Pro. Thank you! ❤️#NewSubscriber
I thought the same thing but GIRLLLLL, having books online is godsend 😩 you don’t have to carry them around on campus breaking your back & you don’t have to sell them at the end of the semester. It takes some getting use to, but I adjusted pretty quickly to utilizing online books, I’m sure you can do it too ❤️
I have 2 questions: In the Elsevier app, can you actually annotate using the apple pencil? Also, can you save your ebooks, so that you can have them forever? I only ask because I was on reddit and I randomly stumbled on someone saying that their nursing program uses Elsevier and once they are done with the program, the ebooks are only good for 2 years after that, which is weird if this is true. I would think that the student would be allowed to keep the ebooks since they did purchase them. I actually have my Zoom orientation with my cohort, instructors, and a Elsevier representative tomorrow morning, so I will be double checking on that. Hopefully, you'll be able to reply. Thanks!
@@keneshamaxwell103 Hey, here's an update: the ebooks are good for 30 years via the website and "Elsevier eBooks on VitalSource" app on phone/tablet. To download ebooks on a computer, you have to download their app by searching in "elsevier ebooks download" on Google, click the first link and download the specific app, which will store the ebooks on a computer. This is also good for 30 years, as well. As for the additional resources, such as the adaptive quizzes or anything other than the ebooks, they will expire a few years after. For example, I am buying the ebooks bundle, which includes additional resources, so those resources will expire in 2023. So yes the ebooks will expire, but in 30 years and their app is needed to view the ebooks. The ebooks cannot be downloaded without their app. Also, the ebooks will not be updated to the latest versions when they come out with newer editions in the future. Hope this helps!
I just stumbled across your channel and I love your content! I’m a 4th semester nursing student and I just went paperless as well. Thank you for the tips and good luck with nursing school :)!
Excuted this video FLAWLESSLY ‼️ My fiancé is purchasing me a MacBook Pro for school and I was like hmmmm "I can just buy myself an iPad" but of course he thinks it's redundant 😒🙄 BUT ME, BEING EXTRAAAAAA, & OCD , was like boy screw you! So anyhow I was waiting on the drop of this video to see rather or not I would benefit from having both. I def gained so much information from you and I do feel like I would absolutely love both. As you mentioned, having an iPad is just an added perk. Im such a hard book, write it out on paper type of person, so this will def be new to me. Thanks for sharing babe. ❤
RU-vid really playing with me cus my bell notifications are on and they’re not telling me😭😭 good thing I check your channel like everyday ❤️ Thanks Dom
I was just looking up videos like this! I love to watch them and see how others take notes on their iPad. Also, it helps me with note taking ideas for when I start nursing school in August as a paperless student.
I literally thank you so much for this. I am contemplating getting an iPad for nursing school! I was literally debating between iPad pro and air so I really appreciate your info
This video was very informative, thank you for making this for us. Also if you're on a budget you buy an iPad from QVC and pay in installments they also give you accessories along with the iPad (Apple pencil not included)
My iPad doesn’t have any internet, I just use the WiFi at home, school etc. Yes, you can take notes in the notes app without & on the PowerPoint with lines! 💕
im only 13, and I want to be a nurse! im starting early, i have a macbook, i just purchased an ipad pro, apple pencil, and other accessories, do you have any tips for studying wise? :)
hi! please don’t buy devices so early cause they get updated literally every year. Instead buy books on nursing and watch nursing yt videos. Good luck!
Buy laptop then ipad Write horizontally when writing Lecture- ipad Skills- paper Clinicals- chart after clinical session PowerPoint - How to add lines- File - print- 3 pages per slide- Save as pdf Notes app Goodnotes Quizlet Notion Audio recording of lectures You can print out written notes Split screen- taking notes while watching a video/ lecture Yes - you can take notes without the internet Apple pencil tip- can be replaced if it not working on iPad anymore
Your video was very informative, thank you! I just bought an iPad but it wasn’t the pro or the air. However, I am so excited to use it to write notes. Thank you girl💖
Hey, I just got accepted into nursing for two institutions which offer the adn program. However, I am undecided on whether I should stay home and attend the school closer to home and not be completely focus or go to nursing school a hour away and be focus and get a better education. Which institution would you choose?
Omg like I feel like you were talking about me lol, I’m the same age and plan on doing the same thing from ASN to Bsn in the summer. But this video was amazing
I would recommend checking my how I study video as well as my how I take notes -I went into depth of what I look for in a textbook; I was considering doing a video just on this just so it’s more clear. I think I will ❤️
Miss, I graduated from High school a 100 years ago and I decided to do the GED and then apply to the LPN program, however I am planning to buy a computer and an ipad but I don't know much about computer softwares , am from your mother Generation, do you recommend a computer course and which one to help me when I do start the program. Thk you.🙏
Hi just a question. on 9:08 you showed your taking note on your pdf form PP with the pen which is on the PDF toolbar, not with IPad pencil ( or styles) that comes with iPad or you purchase separately. I have pens on PDF tool bar but with the mouse controlling and writing using PDF pen is so annoying and I can not write properly, but you are writing so nicely. so are you using the tool bar pen option or you use a physical IPad pen. I mean IPad pencil?
I love writing vertically only. I do realize the surface area for writing is greater, but I still love to use my iPad like a piece of paper in a tablet. Using Goodnotes eliminates me having to go through the laptop for PPT edits. Goodnotes combined with the iPad saved my life. Personal and professional lol. Thank you for all the tips. ❤️
Hello I loved this sm!! Never knew you could change the layout of PowerPoints to have space on the side to write notes wow!! Such a game changer and can’t wait to begin doing this when I start nursing school in the fall😄 Also, is there any way you can share how you takes notes with the textbooks? I noticed you had a folder on your ipad and I am really interested since you already shared an amazing note taking tip😊
I have an iPad that I used to take notes on but I got lazy and inconsistent with it during my prereqs. Now that I’m starting nursing school this fall, I want to implement this system of paperless notes. 😭 I’m about to buy the apple pencil. I have some stylus that I got from target but it’s not really that good. Maybe a better stylus like the apple pencil will help keep me consistent!
I tried to do the powerpoint with lines, but my laptop is a PC, not MAC.. I tried the steps you said but didnt work for me.. anyone have success with a PC laptop? HELP! 🥰
I can't seem to figure out how to save my slide onto my laptop after I had created the note onto the side of my slides. I do not have the option to save one to print after editting the slide
Not necessary, as long as you can save your PP as PDF you definitely see options such as full screen, or notes with line and you have to choose from the options
@@DominiqueDooley thanks for taking the time out to reply! I got my macbook today, and I'll be saving up for an iPad and stylus to use soon ^___^ I can't wait to experience the paperless route lol
