How I think Google could build a KILLER Dex desktop mode rival 

Have you tried Vivaldi or Samsung Internet? Both function like desktop browsers on Dex for me.

@@bernard3089 Kiwi is the only one I know of that allows you to use every extension from the Chrome Web Store and ones from GitHub as well.

Kiwi browser supports all chrome extensions and side loaded extensions and also has developer mode like desktop chrome ​@bernard3089

Samsung doesn't want a full Desktop operating system on their Galaxy tablets/phones. Just like Apple, they want to sell people on a Laptop as well.

I like the idea of a Kiwi browser. All the flavor and greatness of the Internet brought to you by the fine people of New Zealand.

not really.....google isnt selling chromebooks anymore and when they were they didnt mind competing with samsung asus hp acer or lenovo before. Google could even sell u the lil kit to do it......for that matter you already can with a hd capture via usb c device on googles latest tablet.

You can choose if you want to charge it or not, and you can set it up to use slow charging when plugged in for Dex.

@@jordanjackson8873 Yeah that doesn't solve anything. You need to have components on the motherboard that allow for running off wall power.

If I'm not mistaken, the pixel tablet lacks the hardware to do so

@@scaryifliteral oh crap. What a missed opportunity.. it's already has a charging dock with speakers so with an external monitor and a Bluetooth keyboard+ mouse you get a setup which is enough for the majority of the people.. maybe pixel tablet 2

I agree. Dex ist mediocre at best, and is not a real alternative. So instead of creating another semi-good solution, they should partner up

@@JeanRivau DeX is 'mediocre'? Have you actually used it? 😆Well, no worries if you think DeX is 'mediocre'. I personally find that DeX makes a major difference in productivity! Anyway, here's hoping for some major improvements for Desktop Mode / DeX.

Hey, thanks for the response - yes, I really think so. I try to integrate Dex in my workflow. However, I'm dependent on at least two separate screens, also different programs in parallel (Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, sometimes two seperate browsers, and so on). I would love to just use my Tab S9 plus an external monitor, while being able to drag and drop items from screen 1 to screen 2. I can do that only with my laptop, but not with my tablet. So yes, it's not a proper desktop replacement for me. And I think that's a pity, because there is so much potential.

Multiple Android OEMs have full desktop modes already and Android's built in version has been improved significantly with recent updates.

You're drawing up a worst-case-scenario and then shooting it down though. There are TVs everywhere and you don't need a mouse or a keyboard. You can do everything with your phone as a trackpad and keyboard. At worst, you need to carry one cable that you might already be carrying. Dex related videos do well, people are using it even if you don't know them.

I DEX to the RV TV. Had a Note 20 Ultra with a 1Tb SD card. Movies and videos and an interface thru Nova Video Player. Just one example.
