I like the Shortcuts idea for quick switching between focus modes. I think I’d rather use the “Add to homescreen” option to create icons instead of the oversized Shortcuts widget. But that’s just taste. Thanks for sharing!
@@GIJane69 sure... create a Shortcut that changes the Focus and then click the share icon and choose "Add to home screen". Then it's just an icon on your home screen.
I’m not deleting RU-vid if I can’t have a slight moment to enjoy life and relax then why tf be alive. Relax get things done but enjoy life while you’re at it.
@@sewerratoh thanks for the info. Didn’t know about his free routine postings. But you’re kind of a hypocrite while blaming me for saying something and you assume my situation lol. You don’t know what I do or work my life for. So you could blame me or anyone for taking their time and putting a comment on a video on RU-vid, especially when you know how the RU-vidr works. But it doesn’t justify you judging someone. But thanks for the info. 👍
@@kratos2105okay got. Was just point out something you said that bought my attention in a funny manner. Keep up the good work. I actually finished your whole video and it was enjoyable when I saw it weeks back.
@@Godwinsact Bro wrote a paragraph to explain something I didn't intent to in the first place. "You" refers to the folks who are opposed to the idea of deleting RU-vid since it is coming from a youtuber who posts on RU-vid too. There's a fundamental difference between being a creator and consumer of content. For the creator, for all you know, may have never spent a minute watching content. You're not only judgemental but also angry and a "hypocrite" for calling me that when you're one yourself. Not many signs of a good human. Cheers.
ugh - samsung has 'modes and routines' and focus modes and you can apply most of the stuff, but the ONE thing that i wanted, it doesnt have. the ONE PAGE SCREEN. meaning if im in deepwork mode, show me THIS home screen, vs another mode another screen. im unable to find any info/videos on it too. if any galaxy fans in here find out, please reply!!
This was so 🔥 - refreshing after implementing. Appreciate you taking time, creating and editing and entire video dedicated to this - keep going guru ✊🏽
After saving this video to watch later with intention to customize my phone so that I force myself to spend less time for nonsense hours of watching RU-vid and browsing around. After month I came back fo it coz iphone is a distraction drug. Let's make this happen today. Thanks for the simple and useful video.
Think it is cool. I will think through how this would work for those in industry. This is cool when you can compartmentalize, but it definitely could be a challenge for those with kids and those that have other priorities.
Love the easy to explain about the focus mode. I had trouble learning how to do it and this explained it perfectly. On a side note, is that an Apple Watch you’re wearing? That looks so cool!
great video thank you basic question : I am only starting to organise my messy apps I have deleted all the apps that I dont use . how do you create pages (in order to then to create the focus modes) ? thank you
Never used android so idk if they have similar features but my honest recommendation is to avoid using your phone entirely. This type of video gets a lot of views because it looks cool and I think the setup does genuinely help but it’s also just cope to a certain extent and the best way to be productive with your phone is to delete apps, turn off notifications, and just use your computer or something else for focused work so I would start with that
@MrCurtJune simply hit Select in the top right corner of the shortcuts menu; select the four focus modes that you've created, and then select Move and then choose to make a new folder.
hi i have a question. When i change my focus modes the bottom portion reacts very late to the colour change? is that normal? As i have seen in your video your iphone reacts pretty fast. And the font colour changes too
In Focus „Drive“ I can not set a home screen but only lockscreen and apple watch screen. How can you set a home screen in this focus? Thanks for answering.
@@kajetanmazur2425 I think he set an individual focus, named „Drive“, you can see a train Icon in the video. The default „drive“ focus of iOS has a car symbol, which into available for individual focuses. But I don’t know oh this focus has the same features like the default one (i.e. automatic answers while driving, etc.)
Consuming content intentionally is something I just consciously realized for the first time. Most of it is really mental masturbation and dopamine rush if you’re just listening, thanks!
The video is quite delightful and motivational. I believe it would be interesting if, when you are using one focus mode, such as the Driving for example, the other four on the widget bar should exclude the one for driving and instead show four different ones. This way, you can create and handle five different focuses. I am uncertain, though, if this is feasible.
I think you can do that by creating different folders on Shortcuts with the respective buttons on each focus and then assign them to each page's widget
Don't have an android phone to make a video with but the most important concepts about deleting non-essential apps and using your phone for specific intentions can easily be applied to any phone i imagine
lol I've been there, check out some of my other videos too I think they may be more impactful for you but after that just get off youtube and get to work!!
Stop watching this kind of video because your becoming addicted in this type of self help video you will just realise that in your self like it doesn't matter how many video like this you watch if you just going back on your old routine nothing gonna change...
Hey you can add more screen real estate to each focus mode by putting the shortcut switcher onto the widgets page and you can also add a 5th focus mode if you automate Driving to automatically enable when CarPlay or a specific bluetooth device (car) is connected, and then create another automation to disable driving when device is disconnected. Automation to focus modes are endless, you could for example if you work in a physical office have your work focus page automatically turn on when inside your office and turn off when you leave. I use the automations and I have a default “Home” page that when I’m not, exercising, traveling, driving, or sleeping my phone defaults to.
I'm halfway through the video and absolutely love the simplistic setup that serves a purpose rather than having a thousand apps everywhere. I'm going to set my phone up like this to gain more value with the important things.
This was really cool thank you! I'm new to iPhone but have been triggering the Shortcuts via the Action Button rather than the HomePage Widget, but I never knew you could create all the (lock)screens and wallpapers specific to each Focus Mode, so thank you! Also, your presentation was really well-paced and clear, and it's quite rare for people to show each individual step - even if we know how to do it, its good to see precisely how you've done it
omg thank you so much!! i always had the do not disturd focus mode on and did not want to get involved with focuses, but now that i have a new phone your video helped me to get into it and now i love it!! again, thx for the video
You can do that by holding your finger on the screen and click on the plus. After search for stacks and there you can stack widgets. For switching between them, simply swipe up or down on the stack.
True that’s a good an idea, didn’t think of using widget stacks to add another set of toggles. I’ll try it out. Only downside is it you don’t want to over complicate things and spread your focus too thin
@@MilesMochizuki you talked conceptually about your home pages setup but did not get into the specific instruction on how to do that. It would have been helpful to see exactly how to do create/add the widgets from this video without having to go do separate research outside of this video. I think it is important to come from a perspective that an individual (like myself) may never have thought of something like this or even know how to setup widgets/home screens/etc. I hope this is coming off as constructive feedback and not complaining. I stumbled upon your channel/videos when researching how to optimize my tech/workflows. You have a great channel overall.
@@avenhaus there has to be a limit with instructional videos in terms of people's basic knowledge set. I think if you do not know how to add a widget to your home screen, then you need to learn more about how to use an iPhone before getting into this level of iPhone organisation. From the angle you are coming from, he should be showing us how to set up the iPhone from unboxing - with setting up Apple ID etc...
Great video Miles. Great production. Keep doing what you love and those subs will skyrocket! Love the focus mode tips with shortcuts. Love the Miles Ahead branding!
So I was trying to set this up and it did not show Home Screen for me. Only Lock Screen and Apple Watch screen like it shows in 6:43. Lucky. How do you get these already pre-programmed screens?
I was having this same issue with the “Driving” focus mode specifically. I wonder if it’s because you’re not supposed to be using the phone while driving so there shouldn’t be a need for a home screen in that mode. Trying to find a work around because I like how Miles has the maps and spotify widgets. If I want to change a podcast or playlist while sitting parked I don’t want to have to switch focus modes.
@@MilesMochizuki makes sense, heads up would be cool to get a list of apps you show linked in description on vids, happy to use ref links to support the channel ✌️
