I worked in a local restaurant with a similar model. Yeah you can cut a whole lot of things with this. I had to feed the meat myself, the chef told me that most people send themselves to the hospital while they clean the machine. Cleaning the top was easy, but cleaning the bottom was pretty hard because a lot of gunk just hides in crevices here and there.

Used to work machine sharpening blades and shear cutters. these blades aren't no joke, they get sharp enough you'll cut yourself with just a very light touch, happened to me plenty of times.

@@thelordofeternalfireandhis4033 ive done it both ways. I dont remember ever seriously cutting myself on one. Maybe a nick here or there. I could even clean them with the blade turning, which you should absolutely NOT do. But us old heads do sometimes do things in inadvisable ways. I think the bizerbas have an easily removable blade which makes it pretty easy to clean. I do think that a oscillating blade would probably be better than a rotating one from a safety perspectice and it would make cleaning easier and safer. They would be really really loud though.

Having worked in the meat department of a major grocery store chain, I can attest to the quality of Hobart equipment. The slicers we used (we had two) were at least thirty years old, and still worked great! I will stipulate, however, that they can indeed be a bugger to get clean.

Hobart slicers are very nice. But they cost alot, like most commercial appliances do. For home use, I purchased a 10" BESWOOD slicer and I love it. Quiet and smooth operation, and easy to clean and maintain. Very rigid adjustment on how thick you want your cuts and assembled well. I have many hours on it in the couple years ive had it and its still like new. Comes with its own sharpener as well. 5/5 Just cut a roast for beef sandwiches today, paper thin and excellent. The unit cost about $350-$400 I think? and parts are available if needed. If anybody is in the market for a slicer for home I enjoy this one. Surely there are other nice ones out there, but im just sayin.

Former Hobart service tech here. A better video would be "How deli workers mess up slicers." 1. Drop them while carrying them to the sink. (Lift and clean in place, do not move unit from location). 2. Submerged in the sink. 3. Plugged in while motor case is filled with water after being Submerged in sink. 4. Using spray pan release to lubricate. 5. Using nothing to lubricate. 6. Excessive force with grip causing grip to crash into blade.. 7. Excessive sharpening. 8. Not sharpening. 9. Bones. 10. Lack of training, or lack of listening.

Yeah people need to treat these blades as if they're cleaning a huge round razor blade that isn't dull. If there's any job where one needs to slow down and be careful while taking your time it's cleaning this type of machine. Go fast cleaning the tray under it, cleaning anywhere around the blade slow your life down a bit, getting home 15 sooner isn't worth it.

I used to work at a deli where one of these would be used. A silly old man who fancied himself a comedian came in one day and attempted to pass a pressed sandwich through the spinning blade to make thin disks from it, but it didn't have the integrity to sustain the forces and it made a mess (both inside the machine and across the walls of the deli). He was still wise cracking and making jokes about "cut that out" and saying the meat slicer "wouldn't cut the mustard" as we ejected him from the deli. Eventually the slicer had to be ditched out and sliced meats were no longer offered. The deli was out of business within the year. All because of a silly old fool who prioritised 'his funnies' over a cracking small business.

@@syedaaminazahra9045 Dave is showing the lack of depth of knowledge he has. You asked a simple question about a term ("deli") that may be foreign to you. Robert provided a great explanation. Dave thinks you are lacking intelligence by not knowing a slang term used in a different culture, but it is he that lacks knowledge - not to mention grace and civility. "LMAO" means he was laughing at you for not being familiar with a term common to him. It is you that should be "laughing my (your) ass (backside) off" at him, not the other way around.
