@@itsskittletime1215 There's a certain type of guy who can simultaneously be intelligent, although not necessarily bookish, hard-working, and also chaotically wild. @LudaChez
@LudaChez 2 года назад
The "Florida Man" thing exists for one main reasons with outliers that make it worse. Arrest records are public here. It's a huge state with a large population and crazy wildlife. It also has parts that are basically empty and boring (any area of the country like that has drug issues). So people just scour the arrest records and find crazy stuff and post it. Honestly every state has several "Florida Man" moments every year. It's just was easier to find here. It's also insane because most of the state is so lowly populated and like "the south" while then you have South Florida (Miami Dade, Broward, and West Palm) that are cultural melting pots filled with geniuses and assholes. It's definitely a wacky state. Like St Petersburg and Tampa. It's like you cross the street from island paradise with friendly people to meth labs and assholes. Even Orlando is making massive progress... But like every large state there are chunks of cities with 4k populations just fucking and fighting. It's crazy but Cali and Texas have the same problem.... It's easier being from and living in Miami as it's considered it's own world.
@LudaChez
@LudaChez 2 года назад
@@janso7979 yeah of course more people like that come from Florida than Vermont. Are you aware of population and population density? Manhattan breeds more crazy people than all of Vermont and you could fit what, 500 Manhattans in Vermont? (Actually about 430 and all of Vermont has half the population of Manhattan) You think a place like Wyoming has the pinnacle of humankind? You don't think California or Texas have issues? I rather deal with a Florida idiot than a Texas idiot any day.

My general impression of Donaldson is that he’s not a mean-spirited dude, instead he’s really, very, *extremely* intense (even when he’s not camping!)
@Alexander_Grant
@Alexander_Grant 3 года назад
He's the guy you want on your team, definitely the kind of guy you want behind the plate if you're pitching. I had a catcher in high school who definitely had an anger issue, not to dissimilar to Donaldson, and he would not be afraid to come out to the mound to tell you to fix it if you weren't living up to his expectations with his colorful language on full display. If that umpire was giving bad calls though, or someone on the other team hit one of our guys, he was the first one yelling and sticking up for his pitcher. We didn't really get along outside of the lines, but man, the amount of respect we had for each other when we were the battery. Some guy absolutely leveled him on a play at the plate one time, and that was the only baseball brawl I've ever been a part of, whole team went after that poor dude. I don't think their team was expecting it. We caught a few in the ribs for the rest of the game, as did they. Scrappy game, but that's the kind of energy someone like that brings to a team, love him if he's on your team, hate him if you're playing against him.

@@warlordofbritannia Yeah he was feisty enough that the team knew he'd do the same for us. It happened in the late 2000s, so it was before things like that went viral or anyone thought to pull out their cell phone. Our team was a group of country boys who grew up in either run down trailer parks or working on ranches and farms. It was kind of the culture of the team, if you had a problem with another guy you'd take it behind the dugout after practice and the coaches would look the other way. A lot of them were some tough SOBs, I wasn't really one of those, being a pitcher and all. Most of us on both teams got suspended for the next game. Lot of freshmen got a varsity jersey for that next game. Loved that team to death though, once you earned your respect in the dugout, they had your back between the lines.

17:30 I remember that game. That game is the one that spawned my complete contempt for baseball umpires. To let one teams pitchers run roughshod the entire game intimidating batters and hitting them but only punish one act late in the game long after it made sense to do so is beyond pathetic. They're probably the most overrated MLB team of that era. They sure get talked about a lot for a team that never made the World Series, never won 95 games, were only in the playoffs twice and had one ill-deserved MVP (Mike Trout was both a better hitter and fielder in 2015.) I mean, they show the Bautista home run off Dyson and the Encarnacion homer off Jimenez a lot for how little they meant in the end. By contrast, you basically never see any highlights of the Royals' two WS runs and their WS championship from the same time frame. 'Fun' is also very subjective. Their best two players, Donaldson and Bautista, are assholes. David Price is an asshole too. They had two different domestic abusers on the team (Reyes and Osuna). Kevin Pillar was suspended for homophobia. They played entertaining baseball, but the team was basically the 70s Raiders without any of the winning.

That's how you make baseball fans for life. I think a lot of pro athletes take heckling way too seriously. Some hecklers go way overboard, sure, but I believe in all honestly most are just trying to have fun with the players. We went down to South Louisiana for a baseball tournament in high school baseball once, and some Cajun high schoolers from the same school hosting the tournament had set up a pickup truck behind the left field wall. Pretty sure they were more than a few in, and just heckled every team that warmed up out there, and gave every left fielder a hard time. They gave each of us a nickname, mine was Daddy Long Legs because I was particularly lanky at the time. It was absolutely hilarious.

17:27 The guy is hilarious and when he's calm seems thoughtful and rather caring. Everyone gets caught up in the moment from time to time, and with a childhood like Josh's it's understandable why he has a more fiery natural reaction to conflict than others. Really well researched video!

Since this video, Josh now plays for the Yankees and seems to have lost his mojo. Idk, his age might be getting to him. I’m a lifelong baseball fan, and I knew there was something I liked about him and his intensity. This video makes me gain a ton of respect for Josh.

Overcoming domestic violence, quitting smoking, protecting her son in every way possible and never letting him quit anything in his life. Most parents think their children are the physical reminder of their own bad choices, for people like Donaldson's mother she knows her son is the only good thing that ever happened to her.

No disrespect to J.D., but Nolan Arenado is the best 3rd baseman since Brooks Robinson and is a great hitter as well. Donaldson is a really good player...Arenado is a Hall of Famer. We know a little something about the hot corner in Atlanta....Eddie Mathews (HOF), Clete Boyer, Darryl Evans, Bob Hoerner, Terry Pendleton (MVP), Chipper Jones (HOF), Donaldson, Austin Riley.

Yeah, we need more Little Leaguers who can bean every player on the opposing team. The truth is Donaldson is a role model. We all are, and we all get to decide what kind of role model we want to be. We all need a teammate who will argue, berate, threaten, and fight anyone anywhere for anything. That's because sportsmanship is dead.

This is great and I love seeing someone overcome insurmountable odds. As a former player, I always understood the love for the game-still have my Topps and Fleer and Upper Deck cards from the early 90s and late 80s. I am not a fan of the modified game in our world today (because people stare at their cellphones all day and have no attention span). Still practice throwing and hitting to this day. Sadly, that uncle sounded like he was an abuser as well. In Little League, I was once hit 4 times in a game and 8 times the entire season. I had to change my stance-prior to that I modeled my batting stance after Willie Mays and Ron Gant and Terry Pendleton. The Big Leagues even pulled me into games as a fill-in. I decided to do music and various other things instead after my parents split. I did play intramural baseball at college and didn't lose my spark. His enthusiasm for the game......fires up other players.

Max Scherzer is in this same category for the way he pitches & gets pissed at himself to create an edge. I knew that he was going to be special for a really long time and was happy to have such a good player that would be on the A's for the forseeable future. I couldn't believe when Billy Boy traded him, but I wish him nothing but success for the rest of his life.
