What is a character artist?
@AnnaMorimoto
@AnnaMorimoto 2 года назад
@Itanchiro Do you mean a person who impersonates unusual, unique, interesting side characters (character actor), a person who draws illustrations of characters from existing comics (fan-art cartoonist or fanfic comic book artist), or a person who draws humerous exaggerated portraits of people (caricature artist)? Maybe you mean something else?

I really like the yukata worn in kimono style. It's worn like a kimono so it has the beauties and style of it which I think is really pretty as well as the colorful designs of Yukata. It's probably easier to move in too so I could say that would be my "ideal" kimono if I were to wear it one day. Thank you so much for the video, Shogo.

So glad I watched this! I have plans to crochet (かぎ針編み) a koi scale pattern kimono and there was loads of info that will help with measuring the pieces to fit me perfectly - like all the "length of index finger" measurements. I'm 6' tall so following a pattern for an average woman's kimono size would probably look a little small on me. I tried searching google in both English and Japanese to see if anyone else had crocheted a kimono before but could only find stuff like amigurumi geisha, which is not exactly the same scale as a full adult size piece. It's going to be a fun challenge!

I'm in a similar situation with the wool men's kimono and Nagoya obi that I found at a second-hand store. I decided to wear them to an anime club meeting one time and did some research on how to wear them ( which is how I found out it was a men's kimono,) and wound up wearing a turtleneck and leggings under it to protect it from skin oil, and decided to go for an index finger length fold like in the video with a random peice of cord I had lying around. This did result in the hem being waaay higher than ankle or floor length since men's kimonos don't have extra length for folding, but I thought it looked nicer with the obi that way, and it made it easier to run in (which I needed to do to be on time to one of my classes.) The whole outfit was basically a pile of kimom blasphemy, but it wasn't for a formal event or anything, so it worked. Took me ages to get the tie the obi right though...

I lived in Japan for awhile ...the only time I had a super beautiful Kimono was as a child...it was so beautiful with super long sleeves...later as an adult when I returned to Japan I only had Yukatas...but I was able to pick out stunning Yakata material that was gray with little printed arrows in the material and a pink obi to go with it...

The long sleeved Kimono,furisode, are only worn by young, unmarried girls.

Now after knowing the difference, i think i like the yukata more than the popular kimono, looks easier to put on and from what i read, more breathable

For most of the year in Japan, the Kimono is worn. The Yukata is only worn during the warm, humid months. Even for the summer, the Yukata is not approprate for certain functions, and a summer Kimono is expected to be worn.

Great video as always. A men's version of this would be great. I know standalone video might be hard, but would be interesting.
