He sold his soul to be the king of late night and he did in fact become a legend, after having appeared to have murdered the entire panel of guests on live television.
He didn’t murder everyone. If you look at the bodies, they were killed the same way other than Lily, which most likely was the Devil’s goal to set himself free from her body.
This isn’t true. He didn’t “appear to murder” anyone except Lilly. When it shows the reality, Gus was burned to a crisp which the possessed Lilly obviously did. Jack had no way of doing that to his body lol. He only appeared to murder Lilly with the knife.
That’s what I’m confused about. All the bodies were left the same way they were killed by the Devil. So it made me think if all of that was captured on tv and Jack technically stabbed the girl to make it appear he was the hero. Doesn’t seem possible for him to burn someone, twist their neck around, etc all in the same area.
@@soulfunkcrusader I don’t think it’s to frame him. The broadcast is meant to be seen by the viewers at home, at least those within the movie. Yes, he was part of some ritual, but he is isn’t doing the show for Satan. He was using the topic, because he’d met the girl and her doctor. The other mentalist guy, is killed horribly, after he leaves. What Jack sees, at the end, is all illusion. What I mean, is that it’s not the tv viewers seeing him kill people. The entity takes over everything in the studio, and it’s Al it’s suggesting it reaches through, into the at home audience, but it’s ambiguous. The scene, of the terrible James Randhi, stand in, with the guy thinking he had things under his skin, into full tearing his stomach open, while most of the people there say they saw it, with a few saying they didn’t. That’s not really how hypnosis works. Especially, not with crowds at a show, and group hypnosis, in general.
I see it as Jack in his personal hell repeated for every view, and this movie is a fun recall to our youth end seventies to eighties. Very good movie with reference to real people.
This was the best movie ive seen in years. If you havent seen it STOP the video and go watch it first then come back. Trust the rando in the comments this time.
He sold his soul at the grove. After that he had to make a sacrifice but he did not know it was his wife. in the end the Devil won as it says in the credits at the end of the movie not the end of the actual movie. the little girl was supposed to be killed at the age of 13 and as soon as she turned 13, as it says on the show, "it has been done". Very clever movie.
I actually haven't watched a single film since The Flash. (It broke not only me, but my beleif in good films). Late Night with the Devil was a brilliant way to jump back in, i thought i would get bored of the slow burn but it was so tense i could not look away.
I've never seen David Dastmalchian as the main character in a movie and he absolutely killed it. The cuts between "live TV" and backstage made it feel very real.
Amazing analysis of this fantastic movie! Great content. Instantly subbed. You voice works, your writing works, your pacing is great. My only take back, is look into a mic with more padding. But, great job. 99.9%!
I thought the recreation of a low budget show from the 70s was spot on. There were some creepy moments for sure and a bit of gore. Overall it kept what was really happening pretty open to interpretation. We can assume Jack went nuts and killed the audience (or the very least stabbed the young girl on camera.) How much of the rest happened is up to interpretation. My only issue was it was hyped a bit too much.
I loved the film. I’m glad there seems to be more interest in horror films set in the 1970’s. XXX kicked it off with an amazing movie. There are definitely more themes from this era to explore.
How could we, as the viewer, be hypnotized? We are watching the cassette itself. We should have not seen the worms and stuff I think (based on the fact that the audience inside the studio realized that they were hypnotized when they were shown the actual video footage of Carmichael's session with Gus).
love your video brother. as a new youtuber might i recommend two things. a pop filter for your mic for the P's an B's, and also when you're editing the audio, you should equalize it. basically turn the volume up on your voice as high as you can so it is NOT CLIPPING into the red or distorting or anything. Best of luck homie :)
I thought it was fantastic. My mom and got to see it.. I’m 39 and I go to theatres about 2 times a week… if you wanna make fun of me..go head I can’t an will never be able to, because I have seziures 😢😢
I suppose you're right...kind of just spooky take on 70s talkshows. I wasn't overly taken by it...also Delroy seemed the most unlikely of tv hosts...Greg Kinnear type of course would be better...felt like one long Night Gallery episode. My one dimensional take on it all...
Your analysis of the movie is better than the movie was itself. You go way further in depth and give more thought to the movie than the movie actually did itself. There are slowburn movies that have a solid payoff at the end, then theres movies like this that just go slow all the way and then trail off with barely a whimper. Such a solid premise and idea wasted with the production and performance.
Was so excited to see this and it was one of the biggest let downs I've ever watched . Had the potential to be an amazing horror film and it was boring and a waste of time . I feel sorry for anyone who pays to see it in a cinema . Would not recommend to watch .
Hes in hell. I wpuld assume he killed himself after his wife died and now hes in his own special hell. Purgatory. Doomed to just repeat this over and over. Maybe with slight differences.
Saw it last night. Boyfriend didnt enjoy it, said there was too much buildup for an anticlimactic payoff, too much Chekhov and not enough guns. I kind of agree they really wanted to make sure you had every important plot point in your head before it happened, which got a bit annoying but only bc i figured most of the plot out by halfway, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. I still thoroughly enjoyed it, the performances from everyone were top notch, the characters all had real personalities, it never got boring for me. (and my biggest most pleasant surprise was it was made in in my state! Australian movies are usually hit or miss, horror ones much more so) I do wish we got to see more of what they were doing at the Grove among the Tall Trees on screen, though.
