Vehicle warranties are federally protected. Magnuson Moss warranty act - you should chat with a lemon law attorney even if you don’t go that route they will be versed on the federal aspect as well as they are in violation. You do have recourse. Im dealing with similar situation (8 weeks) but different part. A consult won’t cost you anything and you’ll get information to help you make a decision that works best for you. @David Nelson I was thinking about this some more last night actually. I keep thinking it’s just a few days and it’s done and I keep getting drug along. Planning on chatting with the service advisor today, and if he can’t tell me an exact arrival of the part, calling an attorney.
@@gavinwalker5686 if you have not already you can call Chrysler and get a case number and case manager. The only thing they can do though is “expedite”the part which really means they put you to the front of the line for part fulfillment and they will be able to provide you a date. In my experience the Service Advisor was unable to do that. Mine was on back order with no fulfillment date but as soon as it became available they notified me. The short of it all is that they are in violation of federal law and there is recourse. I know in my business if I can’t follow through as expected I’m held accountable - they are no different IMHO. I cannot say I am in a similar situation because I am able to drive my truck. But I have a 2022 Power Wagon and the actuator for the front locking differential is kaput. However, the vehicle is still drivable, 4WD works and I still have my rear locker, just no front locker. So I'm waiting for them to get the new actuator. I also have minor electronic issues related to the UConnect and the USB, so I'm also waiting for those parts to come in and get everything done at one time. Lemon laws vary depending on state. I live in California none of the issues I have qualify under the lemon laws because I have not had any repairs related to safety, have never been in the dealership for 30 days under repair, or had 4 repairs for other substantial problems.
How long have you been waiting for that front actuator? Also, kinda a bummer the issues have all been non related. Having one big issue is easier for the piece of mind that many small ones.
@Kevin Van Lohuizen that was how it was in Cali when I talked to someone going through the process there. I talked to an attorney in Utah a couple days ago, and he said about 4 here. So that’s not too bad.
My employer has a 2020 super duty powerstroke that had a pcm issue earlier this year. It was in the shop for 4 months waiting for a new pcm to come in.
@Soaring Eagle Outdoors missing the perfect camping weather is probably the most unfortunate part of this. If I get it back quick I hope to camp atop Lake Mountain where you and I took your 4runner, and then at Alexander Lake once more before the snow comes.
By the time you get it back it will be 2023 they need to give you some money back for loss of value. I also have a 2020 ram 2500 limited call the dealership yesterday to order a 2023 2500 limited thinking about going with a Chevy ram dealership have treated me like crap about get my vehicle serviced
@Gerald Brown that’s lame they’ve been giving you a hard time. I can’t understand poor customer service. I’ve heard good things about Chevy, but I’ve also heard lots of stories like mine lol. So I don’t know what to tell you 😅 Good luck either way, hope whatever you get treats you good.
If it is because of a parts shortage, limited chip supply, or supply chain issues, I don't think the lemon law rules apply. It took ram 9 months to get me a second key for my truck.
@Duke crazy, so you think that even though the pcm makes it undrivable, supply chain may exempt it? That would almost seem backwards if that was the case. Thanks for the comment. That’s a long time for just a key 😅
Parts availability only comes in to play as to disqualify part of the 30 day shop time. Clock never stops and they have to show proof that the delay is out of there control and a third party decides how much and if that reason counts to negate those days. But you were over 30 days prior to the acknowledgment of the pcm so you still qualify. Parts availability will have no place in your case.
Be sure everything is in writing, even after you speak to service say please email me with all the same info and tell them you prefer email communications.
I know what you mean Gavin, I have a 1995 Ford Mustang Convertible and I absolutely love him, when I look at him in the driveway I get that same feeling that you get when you look at you Ram pickup. 😍😚😙❤

Really sorry to hear you are having a terrible time. However, these RAMs now cost over $85,000.oo dollars or more. We are not talking about a low end eco truck. My 1993 diesel Cheyenne has/and never had this type of down time. It was/is an extremely reliable diesel. I have more than one diesel and hang on to the Cheyenne since it is so dependable. Only cure for "these Ram junkers" is if people stop paying full list price plus dealer add on charges $$$$. And this is just the beginning .... wait until you receive that frightful "DEF" warning on your dash.... I hope not but then it is another guaranteed down time expense. Long ago Dodge made some create strong dependable trucks ....... NOT ANY MORE...for that matter EITHER DOES FORD. Their new 7.3 eats up lifters and destroys the top end of the engine. WHAT HAS HAPPEN TO AMERICAN MANUFACTURING...?
@Buffalo Diesel I sure hope this is the last of my worries, I guess we’ll see. Luckily I have 88k miles of warranty still, so I’ve got plenty of time to make sure it’ll be good long term before any cost will be on me. And if it does keep giving me issues, I’ve already hit the time requirement to lemon law it, and if more stuff happens I’d have a pretty good case. It’s too bad, like you said, these “American” trucks should be built better.
Honestly I would start chatting up the dealer about trading it in when it's fixed. Now I would be spitting mad at this point but the smart move could be stay nice and negotiate your way out of this junk.
Thing is the dealer has seen thousands of transactions and the buyer may have one transaction. Who really loses if the dealer starts giving you the run around? I’ve heard horror stories of people going full Karen at a dealership. Also trading in you take a hit, I’d guess $10k to change up to a new vehicle of the same spec.
@Richard J going full Karen ain’t my thing, neither is trading it in and taking a hit like that. Luckily, with the amount of downtime I’ve accrued with this, anything else happens I’d have a pretty easy lemon law case. And if nothing else goes wrong, I’d have a now reliable truck that I love.
@Jake Rheault I haven’t gotten any notice in the mail or anything yet, so not positive until I’m able to speak with the advisor about if I’m part of the recall or not.
@Ali Al Saedi not FCA, I had trouble ever getting ahold of anybody, couldn’t ever seem to get through the phone tree or wait on hold long enough, but the dealership gave me a loaner as a courtesy.
