I just had 2 MRIs 2 weeks ago. I have stage 4 cancer and the MRIs showed that i am cancer free! I had a lot of treatment the last year. Getting the MRIs is a great idea

May I suggest for your degenerative cervical spine that you ALWAYS have your neck supported when you are in the same position for longer periods. Examples; car rudes, sitting on couch ( very important ) planes etc. Good quality pillow for bed, bring it with you for vacations eyc. Support is the key for less pain. If ever you see a chiropractor make sure he is qualified for c-spine manipulations. But neck support is the key! Be there done that🙃. Make sure to start preventive measures while you are young. Good luck! ❤❤

Yes great do it! My mother passed away from a glioblastoma tumor in her head at 45. For the longest time, I was terrified and always wondered why my father took us to have an MRI as kids if we had headaches. All I knew is that she passed away from cancer, I was just a little kid. He never told us what kind of cancer, he wouldn't talk about it. I finally got the truth before he died at the age of 98. When I was approaching 45 I was a mess. I asked one of my siblings if they ever had this feeling before they turned 45 and they all said yes. I'm the baby and I'm 54 now and the oldest is 76 now. I sure hope all is well for you Alex, and also for you Carter. Stay safe! Bradley North Aurora, IL

Good news you both are healthy and free from the horrible disease cancer! I know what Alex is going through since cancer is in my family and my mother and dad and brother all our cancer survivors! I had a full scan MRI done a few years ago and a bone density and such a good thing it was covered through my insurance plan. My dad had lung cancer at age 55 and when he died at age 75 it was not due to cancer. The key is to get blood work done yearly and a complete physical and with a competent and good doctor you will live a healthy and fulfilling life. Thanks for sharing this important information and have a healthy and wonderful marriage! 🙏

ALEX, I too have DDD Cervical and Lumbar for many years. Avoid placing a weight bar on your neck/shoulders like squats. Boy did I learn the hard way. I now have two artificial discs in my neck and one in my lumbar caused by a good deal from squats. Physical therapy can help. If it’s not working, go to another. Achieve PT here in the Chicago area go through and extra year of fellowship training so all PTs are not the same. If your problem ever is so bad you need surgery, Dr Jeffery Cantor in Ft. L. Or Dr Ara Deukmedjian (DEUK spine) are very well known in FL. Best to you both. Jerry from Chicago

I’m age 53 and my aunt had cancer back home in Ireland before Covid, which she had told me about here in the U.K. where I’ve lived for 21 years, but I’ve been back to Ireland a few times since, she got through Covid with no issues and when I visited Ireland for my birthday after Covid last year, she was doing well - I’m aware that there has been some controversy over MRI scans so when my aunt told me that she’s getting another MRI scan as part of another regular checkup in the Mater Hospital in Dublin, I was really worried for her in the light of what I’d read online during Covid 🇮🇪☘️🇺🇸❤️

I had a complete body scan a few years ago because a was deathly ill and the hospital couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Nothing was found which was more puzzling. That was when 6 more people over the next 4 days I was in the hospital. As it turned out I had Nuro virus (you know the stuff the pass around on ships) I hadn’t been in a cruise for a few years. I picked it up at another hospital. My family doctor did say the scan is a very good base for the future as I had two siblings pass away 2 weeks apart You are doing a good thing for your future

Thanks so much for sharing this… I’m 50 ,I’ve actually had a few MRIs more for injuries, I usually go to the imaging center of the hospital. It’s similar in some ways . The last two times, they were not the “ half “ body type like I usually need , I’m claustrophobic. So I needed Valium a half hour before my imaging. They tell people to shower , wear comfy clothes, no metal of course, they didn’t give me any protection for my ears . The sounds are so ungodly loud and I had a headache after both . I’m glad to see that you’re both doing well and taking care of yourself while you’re young .. sometimes depending on the person, it can start going downhill at mid age. But I’m glad to see you both are well , those bright , healthy eyes, white teeth , nice skin , and those beautiful personalities. I notice you both wear the “ ring “ on the left hand which is very traditional, I admire that a lot . God Bless you !

I have had some form of chronic fatigue for about three years. After about 100 different blood tests, visits with endocrinologists, infectious disease specialists, hematologists, and gastroenterologists, my primary care physician sent me to a neurologist. He ordered an MRI of my brain. The MRI showed an "abnormality" on my pituitary gland. A second MRI showed that the abnormality is not cancer, but rather a congenital problem. However, the neurologist found something odd in a different area and so he sent me to an oncologist. Out of the blue, I was diagnosed with cancer. Stage 2. An aggressive cancer. I had no clue. A week later, I had surgery. We never would’ve found it had it not been for my chronic fatigue - but the chronic fatigue does not appear to be related to the cancer. Six months later, I’ve been declared cancer-free. It’s been a rough year, but we caught the cancer before it was too late to do anything about it. Now I only have to worry about my Type 1 Diabetes, a neurological disease that I’ve had for a decade, and one foot that has decided to hurt all the time. Oh, and I have a degenerative disk disorder in my spine as well, aggravated by spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. My body is clearly defective. Can I return it and exchange it for a new one?

Is these guys are a very cute adorable couple. As well I hope they know or they should ask your doctor air is also a marker test that they give where they can check to see if you're susceptible to get cancer cancer. The reason why I know this is I actually just lost my mom June to a rare aggressive lung cancer and I myself had the cancer exam to make sure that you know wasn't something that is possible because I lost an aunt and my grandmother to cancer grandmother to cancer. I wish them the best❤

God is good. Glad to know that you guys are doing okay. You guys are such an adorable couple. As well I do want to let you all know that there is a blood marker test they can do that a test to see if you run the risk of getting cancer. If it's something that's already in your family bloodline. I myself just got checked because we just lost our mother this past June. She got a rare aggressive lung cancer that rapidly spread through her body spine and brain. Just a little FYI you may want to ask your doctor about it. Wishing you both all the best in all your future endeavors and your content. Sending love and light

I'm glad the results came back negative for cancer and at least you have an idea what is causing your headaches. A few notes on cancer. Cancer at 38 is quite young so it makes sense to be concerned about that. Glioblastoma (I'm guessing this was your mom's cancer) typically does not have a heritable gene associated with it. But I would suggest both of you try to detail your family' history of cancer. Do it now while relatives that are still alive and can remember if great aunt Sally had colon cancer at whatever age (you don't have to go so far back but if you can, it doesn't hurt). Leading a healthy lifestyle certainly helps.

My husband and I both had degenerated disk disease. 3 months apart. It’s when the cushions between your clerical spine slightly compress. Prognosis was spinal surgery to replace them with cadaver disks and clerical spine fusion C5-6, &c6-7. (Day surgery). Cause was age (early 40s) heavy lifting, bad posture in working out, and excessive steroid usage. This is solely our situation but may ahead light for you. Interesting timing as I had a mri myself today, for lumbar spine pain. You are very young to have degenerative disc disease. I have that, but I am 74 years old. I used to lift weights also. I suggest that you back off heavy weight lifting. I use to do that, and now I regret it. I used relaxation techniques when I was having my mri, deep breathing, eyes closed, And including visualization of myself floating over the cliffs of Ireland with music running in my head. I received my results in 20 minutes. It's probably reassuring to know that you now have some baseline data to measure against later in life. My mother also had cancer, dying at 58. Her cancer started with back pain, but when she went in to the ER, after smoking 33 years, her body was engulfed in tumors. She waited too long to attend to her back pain.

Hmmm no doctor referral required .. Will insurance pay for that ? I wouldnt think so .. Open or closed MRI ? Be prepared to get a headache from the noise !! .. Your PCP shouldnt have a problem giving you a referral unless your insurance will need a very good reason for the doctor to order the MRI.. Check with your insurance

As someone who worked in healthcare for years, including oncology care, please understand that MRI does not detect all types of cancer. It can also miss small tumors. Comprehensive cancer screening would require a multimodal imaging approach...which isn't affordable for everyone...and the risk associated with radiation exoposure isn't always justified.

Hey guys! I am sorry but as a medical professional i have to speak up rigth now! I am very happy that the both of you are without any suspicious leasons and of course for Alex it is a different thing with his mum passing away so early. BUT before you do all those scans without any reason especially CTs which put your body through a high dose of radiation, please talk to your doctor. You can neither outrule cancer nor differentiate between different cancer types (this is true for at least 95% of cancers) with just an image. And as a matter of fact for most cancers you start prophylactic screening by simple bloodwork and palpating the body for nodules. Also there is a thing called PPV and NPV (positive and negative predictive value) which states clearly that ordering tests just out in the blue without a clear suspicion does not make sense since it increases the amount of false positive and false negative results substantially! i don't know which type of cancer Alex's mum had and i am truely sorry for your losses but you could just have talked to your doctor and screened for that specific type of cancer. And maybe a MRI would have been needed anyways but first of all, your insurance would have probably covered it and secondly, the results would maybe have also distiguished between possible reasons for your headaches. Once again i understand that you are extra precautious given your special circumstances but PLEASE this is not recommandable for the general public! Most of those "health" and "testing" companies just want to make money out of peoples insecurities and fears without any evidence of their practices or any thought on how this affects peoples lives. And frankly, some of those practises are just risky and not healthy what so ever. So yes, take care of your body by eating healthy, being aktive, exersising regularly and keeping your weight down, not smoking (no matter what you are smoking), taking care of your mental health and so on and thus reducing your risk for cancer significantly BUT please do not waste your money putting yourself through all of this. And if you have a genetic component in your family with cancer diseases (and i mean people in your family passing away due to cancer and not the 23and me results that tell you nothing no matter what they say) then also talk to your doctor about that and why you might want to start with screening earlier. We in Europe do have screening protocols for families with such genetic factors and i am pretty sure our American collegues do as well. Once again i am happy that your scans did not show any signs and i wish that you and everyone who reads this stays healthy and especially cancer free but this is not really as great as the company might leave you to believe😉😘💙

Be aware that this full-body MRI scan cannot detect certain kinds of cancers because they wouldn't show up on an X-ray. For example, blood cancers, certain types of neurological cancers, etc. You should follow up with your primary care doctor about those headaches.

Make certain you get a copy of all of the images and a copy of the report. You guys are at the age where you need to have a full physical once every 2 to 3 years for early detection. You both should have a regular as primary care. They should get a copy of these images and the report and also a history of both your families and of yourselves.
