One of the major charms of playing these games as a kid was the fact this definitely felt futuristic, but the future it portrayed was still within the realms of what could be imaginable at that time. It was a fantasy game, but the fantasy felt close enough to be real. Now the legacy collection is showing exactly how big brained the devs were in the early 2000s. The games were way ahead of their time and are genuine masterpieces. ChatGPT is the beta version of what could become personalized digital assistants. Give it 5 or so years and we may have the ability to customize our own digital AI assistants.

I 100% agree! I really appreciate how much care they put into the setting even more now then back when I was playing. GPT is scarily close to a net Navi even in it's current form so it's really crazy

What the anime/games also predicted is the speed at which their PETs advanced technology-wise. A new model always comes out every year in their time and it renders the previous model obsolete. They also predicted technology becoming wireless as they had cables with the 1st gen PETs and then became wireless with later gens. Lastly, they predicted backwards compatibility adapters. In the Stream anime, Colonel Barrel's advanced Gen 3 PET was incompatible with the technology of his time, but was able to still operate because he used a backwards compatibility adapter to still allow his NetNavi Colonel to be uploaded to the desired device.

Oh man you're totally right! I forgot that the idea of wirelessly connecting to the internet was something they introduced in 4 onward. I still haven't finished watching stream so I didn't know that bit about colonel!

@@Xanaxdu I kept spoilers to a minimum just in case. You will still enjoy what the anime has in store for you. Make sure to watch the movie after episode 22 of Stream, but before episode 30 as the movie is canon to the anime.

It hit pretty hard seeing these same PETs in a trash pile in a junkyard in Starforce. I forgot which game, but it was a sight in the trilogy. I don't think Geo knew what they meant to people two hundred years prior to his time...

Thanks to the rise of the battle network collection just popping up in everyone's like videos as of late, it makes it feel like yeah all of the stuff that the series has predicted is more or less true now. You know aside from the fact that none of us have net navis to fight cute viruses use battlechips to basically give them an advantage in battle and we're not fighting other net operators on the Internet....... Because I can safely say right now that the net navis would be WAY more useful then Siri lol. Great little fact video!

I been saying this. Give it 30-40 years and MBN will be reality. It COULD be sooner, but you know damn well the government is gonna put some major security speed bumps on that process.

Thank you for the kind words! I have heard of the pet go. It looks really interesting but I know there was a bit of controversy surrounding the makers of the project. I'm going to wait and see how everything turns out before I make a purchase personally

Online persona (Character) basically navi but no AI implemented. yet.... Social media is basically like net townsquare or plaza Crypto mining - login on and off and picking mystery data to gain money (ZENNY) Net battle - obviously online competitive games AI tech - navi but still no personality yet... just copying existing stuff Battle chips - Gacha but doesn't drain your wallet, but Physical Card Collecting does Rarity = Value
