I like KG more each time I hear him talk. Not long ago I didn’t know the passion he had. The way he talks shows his awareness and high level of emotional understanding. It makes the everything’s possible statement more understandable. You assume the big man has no thoughts or feelings.

OH man I'm just now seeing this video. I had heard the story before, but you taking the time to find the game in it and go through it is amazing. I need some Bird stories now. Maybe you did one already and I just missed it.

I've heard this story about Jordan before from other players in other games. It often makes me wonder how many times they are true, and if other people don't pick up on the story. Antionio Harvey has a video on RU-vid telling the same story but it was in Memphis and Byron Scott was guarding Jordan. Someone from the bench started to go at Jordan, and Jordan looked up with that twinkle in his eye. Now Byron and Mike are friends. They've played against each other for over a decade before this game. So Byron says the same exact thing to Jordan: "Hey, these young guys don't know any better...." Jordan goes off and torches Scott. Byron goes to the bench and lashes out at his team mates. "Don't every say shit to the guy I'm guarding." Reggie Miller tells the story about doing it himself to Mike in a pre season game his rookie year. Same results. It's great to see KG tell the truth, but I question Byron Scott's version of events because he's been involved in telling other people's story before. One where Larry Bird called his game winning shot in the corner out of a time out. Xavier Mcdaniel tells the same story. Did Larry do it twice? Another time James Worthy has a conversation with Jordan in the hallway before a game. They are former college team mates and still friendly. Worthy tells Jordan that Scott is injured and the rookie Anthony Peeler is going to guard him. Jordan just replies 50. IIRC Jordan scored 49 that night. Byron also tells the same exact story like it was him talking to Jordan. That would be a great video to find the footage from if you have it. Peeler and Scott on the same team would have been the 92-93 season. If memory serves me correctly, it was a Lakers home game.

...this sold me on Garnett, now he's PF on my all-time team. Personable, funny and humble? Yes, I need that glue for my team. The perceptiveness and memory aren't bad, neither, and he was already near the top for the position. Sure, Duncan had a longer plateau, but their peaks were on par - and Duncan played more like a center than like a power forward.
