Very cool to see the maker behind. I would love to see front diff drain and fill plug replacements. The factory hex plug strips kind of easily. And when i checked out the new 2024 Tacoma up close, it uses the same thing 😅. But the new engine oil filter switched to the traditional 1-piece style. No more weird cartridge filters
Also, yeah some of the 2022-2024 models are switching back to a spin-on filter. We're prototyping a 2022-23 Tundra kit right now because unfortunately they mounted the filter horizontally, so a drain hose of some kind off of the platic catch underneath is still kind of required to keep things clean.
@@MotivxTools it’s always the hex part stripping. I guess a standard hex bit just have too much slop. I have seen one tool developed specifically for this that has a tight fitting hex. Maybe there’s room for improvement. Or a complete replacement plug that has a large external drive. Look forward to seeing what you come up with!
In the past 24 hours I've ended up on this channel twice for two very different things. This was due to me searching for American made oil change tools, and the other one came up as a suggestion after watching some 4Runner content. Small world!
Radian Weapons - Redmond, OR is at the very top of rifle manufacturers and makes very expensive guns and parts but their also some of the best there is. IMO they would make for another great video.
I used to live just down the road from MotivX and have grown to love their products. I like them so much that I’m personally offended when tools are out of stock ha!
I'm absolutely delighted that the socket set is missing the 10mm 😆 I stopped losing them after I dedicated a drawer in my bins to backup 10mm sockets and wrenches. They don't even try to fall off the ratchet extensions anymore.
Phew! I'm glad they don't take the fun out of it. I already had the filter tool and wrench, somehow I didn't see the set with the funnel. So I bought the funnel (somehow it's harder to get oil into her 4runner than it is my Tundra). Thanks for the discount code
CrZy I’m searching for this exact tool for my lexus since lube place just can’t seem to do shit right so I’m going to do my own oil. I seen cheap one that breaks per reviews and also seen this brand. Now it make sense why I’m going to PAY MORE FOR QUALITY. It’s for piece of mind that the tool will last for the next oil change and not break on you during.
I made the mistake of buying an EBay oil filter removal tool. It didnt work. Cheap metal machined very poorly. I then bought a Motivx ol filter removal tool and it worked the first time and every time since. I can vouch for their quality.
Great kit for Toyotas, and the filler is excellent, with zero mess. The valve to drain the oil cartridge is next level. The plastic piece Toyota gives you is worthless.
I bought their MotivX oil filter wrench 2 years ago for my 21 Venza. By far the nicest tool I've ever purchased. The packaging it came in was a piece of art as was the finish on the tool. Thanks for letting me see how these are made. You can tell they take great pride in crafting the best.
I've got two of their filter wrenches. The quality is exceptional. Life is too short to put up with cheap tools. Get something that will last a couple of lifetimes.
I have their new version Toyota kit and is awesome! The machined oil filter wrench is impressive but I really found the foam cutout, display and functionality really cool and innovative. A better enhancement to tool organization. Especially if you could purchase empty foam cutout displays to use for one’s tools at home compared to buying foam and cutting out yourself.
🤣 You’re the man, Wade. I’m with you on the ADHD…. or attention to detail! Hunter (the CEO) was definitely all about small touches that made their stuff stand out. The workshop was also very clean. I’ve filmed in places like that before and you can’t see through the machine windows. It was very fun to film this video.
@@JasonExplainsThings I think they're in Spokane WA! They also have a youtube channel and I'm pretty sure I heard about them through you... or maybe google's algorithm. They also have a RU-vid: ru-vid.com
I just bought the kit wrench, funnel and filter drain plug, worked flawlessly on my Tacoma. My only question is after watching the video, noticed they made the drain plug release in black/red, mine was just silver steel. Not that it’s a huge deal and doesn’t change the working components. Just thought it looked better in black/red. Anyway love the MotivX products will be purchasing more.
Awesome video. I’ve done three oil changes with the Motivx oil change tool kit on my 2023 Tacoma. Great tools!!! So Jason, it’s time now for you to show us how to avoid oil from splashing out of the drain pain on to the garage floor - happens to me every time 😩
Totally. I actually filmed a 4Runner oil change last week and talked about that in it. Long story short… get yourself a deep drain pan. The new video should be out in the coming weeks.
I owned one of the version 1 Toyota Wrench Filter, I was wondering if there are any plan for extra deep socket impact wrench set that is discontinued on the website? It would be useful for torque wrench socket as the standard deep socket is actually causing my torque wrench rubbing against the side of my car during torquing my wheels.
Thanks Jason, hopefully in the near future they will manufacturer some. I don't mind paying more for made in USA compare to oversea production.@@JasonExplainsThings
You can use a 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch drive extension between the socket and your torque wrench. This will give you more clearance between the torque wrench and the side of your car!
(I'm 72)... it's taken this long for me to enjoy the benefits of quality tools as I continue to perform oil & filter changes on my '20 Tacoma and '16 Sienna. Life is too short to use s___ tools when superior solutions such as MotiveX are available. Thank you for a quality product and quality experience!
Holy crap dude, what an awesome vid!! Besides for the praise of the tools, I hope everyone realizes how freekin' cool it is that Mr. Explains Things was able to get a personalized factory tour with the CEO! A "local" brand that I'm really into right now is PNW Components out of Seattle. They make absurdly high quality mountain biking components for a very fair price. They started out by revolutionizing the secondary dropper post market, but now have all sorts of awesome stuff. Another cool thing about them is they have a Refurbished section on their website that you can score AMAZING deals on top quality products. I will admit, I don't believe they manufacture in the USA, but the company is made up of mountain bikers that test their designs on local trails.
A CBI/Prinsu trip needs to happen. I am part of their ambassador program. They're in Idaho Falls. Hopefully that could happen either this fall or next year.
So sad, I went to the website just now and clicked on vehicle make or filter and there’s no Chevy unless you go by filter and I have no clue about filter names.
Hey there. They don't make one for Chevy Colorado because all you need for that filter is a 24mm socket. But Motivx does make a custom funnel for Chevy. Here's the section of my previous video that covers the Colorado filter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YisSDZuKC5o.html
I hope their employees get treated well. I want, not only a good product, but a product thats made and assembled by happy employees. I don’t need tears of sadness and despair in my mail.
