Thank you for this guide Coop :) I have a collection of cards that I dont play with anymore and would be interested to see if they have any value. Would be interested to get your thoughts on going into vending as a small side hustle and where to get stuff in bulk, if it's worth it, etc.

hey if you dont mind suggestions, i think a lot of parents and kids also struggle with identifying fake cards. especially if they see "too good to be true" deals on marketplaces like facebook. might be worth considering for a video.

I feel like with graded cards it's also who you grade with massively changes the price, being in the UK I use a company called PG grading but prices compared to the same cards graded the same through PSA is crazy

Yeah the big 3 are really PSA, BGS, CGC and to a lesser extent SGC. Anything else is going to be pennies on the dollar compared to those

Hey Coop! I have a noob question :) how do I tell if I'm looking at Japanese or English on tcgplayer? If its not explicitly called out as a different language can it be assumed english? Thanks, love the vids!

So Japanese cards aren’t supposed to be on tcgplayer but a lot of sellers still list them. You’ll want to use eBay sold listings for Japanese cards

My Charizard card, i would say, looks better than the one that sold for 142 simply because ethat had pieces of card missing in the back. My foil is clean, but my edges are a little whitened. Its interesting to see the prices.

Maybe for another video, maybe give us some pointers/best guesses on how to pre grade our cards, looking for potential 9/10s. Also if a card is pulled pack fresh, is it automatically NM/M or no?

Watch TCA gaming videos, he’s probably the most realistic bigger Pokémon RU-vidr regarding grading. Cards can be “pack fresh” and be straight up damaged, just depends. As far as NM condition goes, even a card that looks near perfect straight from a pack could still be a graded 8, little things like a minor white dot on the back corner, a single hairline scratch within the holo, not being perfectly centered…each of those things could drop a card by an entire grade and be a PSA 7 yet it will look absolutely flawless in a binder or until you really focus in and examine the card.

@mgschwartz that's what I was thinking, centering and down to the magnifying glass looking for flaws. Obviously I would rather send potential 10s in than gambling on just any cards being sent

Do you guys find the prices on the Collectr app to be accurate? I’m not sure what they use to determine prices. I lucked out and have a bunch of Skyridge cards and all in all it estimates my collection to be at $5k but I’m kind of assuming the estimated price is for mint or near mint prices, some of mine are and some of them aren’t. Very useful video, I remember you talking about making one on how to PSA grade. I’m also curious about what would be worth grading in the first place. If I assume a PSA grading would be below a 7 would it be better to just not send it in at all unless for personal enjoyment?

I haven't personally used the collectr app so I can't speak to it's accuracy. I mention in the video I try not to use any sort of price aggregation methods which collectr may do. Could at least be a good starting point to compare to ebay sold listings! I'm still thinking through future PSA videos but want to at least give folks an idea of how to go through the submission process

@@SquirtleSquadyfor grading, it’s potentially worth it to grade older cards/vintage that would be below a 7, however I wouldn’t waste my time/money on new product in that condition.

This is intended to be constructive: I think your long form videos can be more effective. Your short vids are going bananas. But this video for instance could be more algorithm friendly. This can probably be cut into 2- 10 min vids and get more eyes on it. I totally get that some of your videos are super long and editing is a pain. Also you may not even care because business is good. And you don’t seem like the person desperate for attention, but I think it is part of effective online marketing. Ps I love what you do for everyone you meet

Moving for the first time in my life with the fam and it forced me to go over my pokemon cards lol. I started collecting when i was around 8, prolly have over 3,000 cards, and never played the game. I have like 8 rainbow rares (no charizard lol) and while i dont want to get them graded this vid helps me esimate the prices way easier 🥰🤌
