Channel name change will grow your subscriptions quickly, “hotshot”, “trucking” terms will grow your channel. With so many hotshot tubers bowing out, you could do very well. We like hauling content, load securement and documenting the experience is the simple magic.
@@DCApplianceRepairActually a name change that’s related to the content will definitely boost his views because when people type in hotshot it will include his channel more .
Great content Alex. Keep the mix you have going. Cool vibe. I am super excited to get into Hotshot. Wife and I are selling and buying a new house in September, then I start with CDL training in early October while in parallel completing all the new company start up paperwork, buy securement items, cab items, tools, and most importantly truck & trailer. I was going to go into this non-CDL but after further research I am going to obtain my CDL from a local trucking company with a good reputation. Thanks again for your earlier comments. Keep the wheels spinning. Doug
Doug, ai think CDL is a better way to go because you won’t be restricted to low weight freight. You can go heavier and thus have more options. Glad you are enjoying my mix of different things in the video 🙂 Thank you and good luck with the house purchase and getting up and started with hotshot.
Another great video Alex. I've learned a couple things from you, 1st: oil filter plug (fantastic) 2nd: how to roll 4" strap onto winch (no need for zip ties) Thanks for the great ideas, safe travels.
Just wondered onto this video, first time seeing your channel because I’m a starting hotshot and been looking at many videos especially baby lion king hotshot, Macc hotshot and TowPiglet and to be flat out honest, so glad I stumbled onto your channel, very great editing for the video, variety is definitely 10/10 and the fact that you have enough time to even get a workout in is very impressive, definitely gave me no excuses to do everything now! Keep the consistency and like I said before very good job on the vid man 👍🏽🙏🏽 drive safe!!
Good job with the videos, I've watched hotshot for a long time and you have a good mix of hauling and load securement, and I like the food and dessert reviews! I think the gym and workout content is good also, and maybe show some of the meal prep. Keep up the transparency with the load payments and fuel mileage, it's interesting.
Honestly love that you workout, eat right and meal prep. Would be cool to see a video for tips on both while on the road as all truck drivers would benefit from that
Hi, great video. How many days did you spend driving or I guess my question is, how long were you away from home? Do you only work monday through friday and are home on the weekends? Or did you work all seven days of the week?
Video is good bro. Its real life and we all would go thru if and when we get to this point. Better than that political ish and fake reality ish on tv. We all about that paper and freedom lifestyle over here that we all trying to achieve! 💪🏽
Hey donut man, good to see you, been there a couple of times at the army depot dropping containers haha is like towing a parachute terrible mpg coming from reno to Cali and then Indiana this weekend forgot is labor day weekend so doing my reset over there be safe bro keep them coming let see if we meet otr 🤑👍🇵🇷😎
Haha. Donut man. I like that 😁 containers have got to be my least favorite loads. I try not to ever take them unless there is absolutely nothing else. Thank you and you stay safe as well👍🏻
@@alfonsogonzalez6412 I’ve seen videos on that place and saw them on google maps. Was considering going there but had to try pink box as my first donut place in Vegas. Carl donuts is on my list though👍🏻
Thank you! I have not done any cooling for transmission or engine coolant. My transmission never gets over 165 degrees. Summer or winter it all seems the same. The coolant does get hot towing in summer up steep mountains. I’m not sure what’s available to keep that cooler. Would like to add some Banks parts but for now I have other priorities for my income 😁
Harley , thank you! I agree. Skid steer alone was cheap and container was cheap but combined it wasn’t bad. Besides the mileage. lol. Sometime you have to take less just do you don’t waste days just sitting at the truck stop.
Love your videos bro. I’m actually located in Florida and just got my cdl permit. But I was actually thinking on doing hotshot like you. Any recommendations
Thank you! If you are going to do any type of trucking, CDL is the way to go because without it you’re limited on load options. It’s tough as it is but if you have to stay within a certain weight limit it gets a lot more complicated.
Hey Jeffrey, here is the link to the fridge that I have. It. And be fridge or freezer. F40C4TMP Portable Refrigerator 20 Quart 12 Volt Freezer (-8℉~50℉) 18L Car Fridge with Compressor 110-240V AC for Camping, Truck, RV, Travel, Boat and Home Use a.co/d/9Ao2yUq
@@Mr.AlexKogan Thanks! I bought one when they first came out years ago that only cooled. It was garbage! I never looked into them again so I had no idea they make them with a compressor on them.
Good information sir. Thinking of going hotshot currently drive big truck for a carrier. I have a 2012 ram3500 just need a good trailer. My truck is not rated to tow as much as the newer omes. Could you do a video explaining how DOT deals with hotshots, and how you determine load distribution as to not overload your axels? I do dry van, so i slide my tandems to even the load out so curious how you do it.
Thank you! I really wouldn’t know what to say about DOT dealing with hotshots. I haven’t had any interactions with DOT besides random safety inspections twice. We as hotshot drivers pull into weigh stations just like semi drivers. I believe DOT pays more attention to semi trucks vs hotshot. I always see semis being pulled over and rarely hotshot. As for load distribution you always want majority to be over the axles and then spread the rest forward. You never want to go super heavy in the front of the trailer because then the ride becomes uncomfortable. You’ll really feel the bumps and imperfections in the road. I’ll try to do a video on that sometime but can’t promise it’ll be very soon.
You sure that little skid steer didn’t wear around 3,000-4,000 pounds? 10,500 sound like a lot for that little skid. Great video by the way! I’ll be getting into the game soon with Hot Shot!
Yes. I also take off the handle that jacks up the trailer as well. If I feel really unsure about a truck stop, I’ll throw a chain between trailer wheels to lock them as well 😁
Thank you! I pay 7% to my dispatch company for booking my loads. There have been times where I have booked my own load too. I believe a dispatcher is well worth it.
Hi Man! great videos! thanks for all that information, I have a Toyota Tacoma and I would like to start with this job, it is possible to start with no trailer and no CDL License? just picking trailer with the load from one side to another.
Hi. Thank you! I don’t think you will find loads like that. You really have to have your own trailer. Toyota Tacoma doesn’t have enough power to even pull a 40ft gooseneck without a load on it. You really need a diesel truck for this job. I believe your truck is rated at 3,500-6,500lb towing max.
@@DavidConilliac You have to have a lot more because a 40ft gooseneck non CDL weighs around 7,000lb. Plus having a gasoline powered truck, you’ll have a hard time fueling up because you can’t pull in to a normal gas station with a big trailer like that. You have to go to truck stops and they only have diesel.
@@DavidConilliac yeah you need a diesel at least a 2500. You can find loads on the load board or find a dispatcher that’ll work for you and they will find you loads. I recommend a dispatcher to simplify things.
So I’m looking to start into hotshot too. But one think you need to explain to me is how can you eat 6 donuts and be in such good shape? I eat 1 donut a week and I gain 10lbs and now I can’t loose weights. Hahahah
Well, the question is, how many calories do you consume the rest of the 6 days of that week. Most likely you are overeating the amount of calories that your body requires to maintain your weight. I figured out what my caloric intake need is to maintain my weight and I subtract 500 calories per day from that and at the end of the week it adds up to 3500 calories which is 1lb of body fat. Pretty much I put my self in a calorie deficit 6 days a week and then Sunday is my cheat day so I eat whatever I want. That way I don’t gain fat. Plus the more you can attend a gym the better. 👍🏻
No wayyy you ate all those donuts 😭😭 Quick little tip when you're in remote areas like that ask them to send you a dropped pin 📍 it will never steer you wrong. Oh and get some airbags on that thing already!
I did eat all of them 😁 I often do ask fir a pin drop when it’s a confusing area but not everyone knows how to do that. So my trailer and truck have airbags. Where else should I add them? lol
@@Mr.AlexKogan Oh ok nice! The way it was squatting in the beginning of the video and the on the video still pic made me think otherwise, guess they were just low on air! Are yours factory or did you go aftermarket?
@@polglazenathan28 I used to do a two weeks on and one week off schedule but since business has been slower I’ve been on the road fur 2 months at a time before taking a week off.
Be careful showing ammunition or any part of a base. The military has contacted me and had me take down a video I posted about a year ago. Great content. I do the same thing but in a sprinter van
@@clozer11051 A lot of truck stops say you can’t drop trailers but everyone still does it. You kinda need to get the feel for it. If there are a good amount of trailers with no trucks then it’s safe. In Denver at a pilot they said no dropping but I asked the security and he said not a problem. 🤷♂️
I would like to see what and how you meal prep to get ideas for when I start trucking, Thank you Like the videos you should livin up a Lil haha you always sound like you just got yelled at
Haha. I kinda agree about you saying I need to liven up a little. I have a lot on my mind with work, securing loads and recording at the same time so that’s maybe why I sound like that. Here is one of my videos that I show meal prepping. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e5VZLwHUkwI.htmlsi=QaWKlIq8x4pt5lV1
@@christopherhahn204 I can’t answer on the dispatch service as I’ve been with mine since I started. When you get your authority, you’ll get flooded with calls from dispatch companies offering their service. You can probably google dispatch as well and maybe there would be reviews. Wish I could be more helpful with this.
The name of the town is pronounced too-el- uh. I ran a project on that very depot 4 years ago and I could t pronounce it either 😅. I've been romanticizing the idea of hotshot for years so I'm going to check out more of you stuff. I've been looking for a clearcut answer on what is the upside of income for hotshot. I make great money now so it's tough to pull the trigger without knowing.
@@Mr.AlexKogan Thanks for responding. My current job is full time away from home. I'm only home for about 5 or 6 weeks a year. My desire to do hotshot is wholely a desire to be my own boss, add more flexibility to my life, make at least the same money I make now and while continuing to travel.
@@poolfiend007 Well it’s honestly hard to give you an answer on what you can earn because trucking market is lien a rollercoaster. One week can be good and next week can be bad. Overall you can make good money but again I can’t say if it’s better than what you make now. You can definitely gross 5-6k a week for sure. Some weeks will be much better and some may be a bit less. Hope that gives you an idea.
Мне повезло увидеть это видео и было полезно 🙏🙏🙏. Особенно как натягивать цепи, ты Алекс с двумя цепями обходишься а я с четырьмя 😅. теперь буду знать 🤝🤝🤝👍
@Mr.AlexKogan That's what I thought. If it's a short distance, then it's probably worth it. I pickup and deliver, to the ports of LA. I see many hotshot guys, hauling containers. Thanks for answering my question.
@@jamariquai01 yeah short distance would be ok, depending what it pays. I think a lot of guys take containers as a last resort when there’s absolutely nothing else. Kinda like my situation in the video. I did it as part of a partial load. Either way I try to avoid them.
Hey alex, if you want healthy asian food and good serving as well you might wanna consider china king here in sullivan just near walmart. I like there egg fried rice and orange chicken.
Who wound put extra freight inside a container. No shipper would load the container with freight. How would you even load it if most loading happens from the side of the trailer?
Loading docks, hand loaded, boats, motorcycles. The only thing loaded from the side is flatbed. There is a world of opportunities besides flatbed.@@Mr.AlexKogan
@@sallysue5918 said you are referring to picking it up additional loads on the way and putting them in the container then I have never heard of anyone doing that. That would be against rules.
Hollow shells, not bombs. You wouldn't have gotten that close to them otherwise. I hate to be that guy, but you don't have near enough truck under you to control the load if something goes down in front of you. Especially in the mountains. I'm surprised DOT doesn't eat your groceries out there.
Yes I am aware the shells were empty. They wouldn’t be laying out in the sun if they were full. I’m mot sure what you mean by not enough truck to control the load. I drove with 15k on my trailer through Colorado mountains and not a single issue. My brakes don’t fade like semi trucks. They aren’t drums. Disk brakes on truck and trailer. Never had issues stopping down a mountain. Exhaust brake and disk brakes do a perfect job.
I stay in st Charles it would be nice to find a job were I could make a living sheesh if you ever hiring shoot me a buzz thank you currently working at gateway towing & modules it’s half union half not 20$ hr eh barely making 40hrs a week it’s tough I got a kid ughh

Bro come on. Let’s not get political here. lol. There are other ways enemies find out about US weapons and RU-vid is definitely not one of them. Not in a hotshot video 🤣
@Mr.AlexKogan bro, I understand that, let me ask you this. can you just go on a base and just video anything you want, at the ammo supply does it have public access. trust me the look at all things, when I was in it was crazy of all the things they look at to gain information
My friend, the rates are definitely not getting lower because of these videos. That I can guarantee you. That’s like saying diesel is getting more expensive because of these videos.
