#farmfresh #buylocal #idahopasturepigThis fall, we bought a Idaho Pasture pig from a local farm. If you have ever wondered how much meat you get from a whole pig, we hope this give you a good idea. Thanks for watching!
We just ordered a local raised pig at 250lbs for $250 and process should be $300-$400 from our local butcher. We're in South Dakota and this is our first time buying a pig. We get beef from my parents who raise their own. Thank you for sharing this info I had no idea how much meat to expect. That's quite a bit.😁
You're welcome! Yes I was happy with what we got. I'm not sure we will buy as expensive a pig as we did last year. $250 sounds better than what we paid! I will say the meat was really good though. We had some pork shoulder steaks last night.
Yeah it’s definitely something to think about. We are raising our own pigs and chickens this year, and get our beef from our neighbor! Good to know where it comes from.
I have a question I'm looking forward to getting into the farm business as well. If I buy my unbranded beef & pork from another local farmer can I put my name on it and sale from my farmers market
Hi, you would have to check with your local and state laws. Regulations vary from state to state. For example, I am allowed to sell raw milk in my state. where it is banned in others.
