As the racial pay gap the gender pay gap too can be largely explained on choice specialty per gender. Most surgical specialisties are made of males ( by choice) , which will obviously largely skew the earnings towards males. Within the same specialties your pay also depends on the amount of hours you work per week as well as if you have a private practice which skew towards men ( I'm in no way stating an opinion, just facts)
