After a bunch of drag racing, I knew how quick & how fast my 2023 VW GTI Performance was. Now it was time to find out exactly how much horsepower & torque it put down to the wheels. I proceeded to dyno test my JB4 powered MK8 GTI on every map that I drag raced with. Then I dyno tested the car on a stock map to see exactly how much additional power I really made with the JB4. It was awesome to see some power figures to add to the 1/4 mile times that I had already accomplished!

I run one on my 8y a3 with the same motor. George at BMS helped me over the course of 2 months achieve the perfect tune. It's not for those who aren't inclined to a hands on tuning experience but the interface and customizability is unparalleled when you develop your own map 6. Easily supports water/meth, e85, etc. Also doubles as a digital boost gauge with a tablet, and OBS scan.

That's why I only featured up to Map 5 on my car. The majority of people will not go through the route of custom tuning a Mk8 GTI. Plus, the goal of this and all of my builds are to showcase what OTS products can do for the masses and not custom builds.

So glad I found your channel this is the kind realistic comparison testing that's hard to find on the internet! Have you considered emailing the guys at BMS a few logs to build a custom map? My mk7 GTI is currently at +7lbs at peak boost with a guestimated fueling of e25 after hearing back from George. Keep up the great content and looking forward to seeing more of this build! :)

Thanks for watching! I never had any interest in running a custom map because I like to show OTS or canned software on this channel. That and I've already removed the JB4 since this video was shot, and have since tuned the vehicle. I'll be continuing the build and testing everything along the way.

Im running a custom E40 - E50 Map developed with George at JB4 over a month or so that runs 7.5+ more boost at the top end. based on this video my guess is 310 to the wheels. These little engines are very capable!

Every dyno will read differently, so just because mine made 300whp on this dyno doesn't mean yours will read similarly. For all you know it will make even more or significantly less.

That be awesome. I just got my hands on a mk7. Bone stock. Wife won't let me do anything to it ever since she sat in my Mk3 Gti Vr6 which was a GCVW runner up in 2004. Still have that car..... I am dating my self. I am old :(@@VancityAudi

Adam, Maybe I’m mistaken, is your windshield washer fluid reservoir cap missing, unless cap’s clear on Mk8s? My Mk7’s cap is blue. Glad to see you removed that cheap prop rod, & replaced it with an hydraulic strut for the hood. Here’s to a prosperous 2024!

Wheel is a 17 x 8, and the tire is a 245

Have you ran the jb4 with an intake and exhaust to see if there are any difference in numbers at all? I'm sure it would be minimal if any but I'm contemplating a jb4 and hoping there are some numbers to look forward to.

I only used the JB4 with all stock hardware. I'd assume you would make a bit more power with an intake. You won't gain power with an exhaust though.

Did you ever do a dyno on a b9 2.0t comparing stock vs Unitronic vs APR vs IE on a stage 1? Would be great to see how much my stage 1 unitronic b9 q5 does and if it actually achieves advertised numbers.

What wheel tire combo is that. Alsoooo I was tossing getting an Elantra n or a mk8 gti. And after watching all your videos and many others. I’m happy to say I have now owned the gti for 3days 😅

Congrats! Glad I could be a negative influence on you 😂 They are Enkei RPF1's with Conti ContactViking 7's. Once you've put some miles on it, tune with APR Plus Stage 1 Low Torque! You can thank me later!!!

Had a few grid over the years and had 3 skylines along the way, also I believe the wheels in this vid are different than you had mentioned. Cant wait to make some progress on this car. Thank you!

ive heard too many complaints with the JB4 id just say screw the warranty at that point anyway or buy a car where u dont have to worry about a warranty cause its not made of popsicle sticks

@VancityAudi I'm just telling you what I've heard from different communities be it the VR bois the hyundais the BMWs the bmw boys seem to have pretty bad luck or it messes with stuff too much so they remove it. I'm not tryna scare you just caution you I'd hate to have a new car go down

What fuel did you use for the rest of the pulls after the e30 blend?

E30. I checked with Burger Tuning ahead of time, and their device will automatically adjust the fuel trims regardless of what map you're on. I tested it on the dyno the first time around using the different octane fuels, and it made pretty much the same power as it did with the E30 blend except of course for map 5 which I showed in the video.

@@christophermaldonadopr Those are the same wheels and tires throughout the entire dyno testing portion of this video, haha. They are 17 x 8 Fast Wheels FC04 with 245/45/17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires.

Just a general question. Why are these peggy bags like jb4 uses so popular in the us? Why not do a custom remap with a proper software for ecu and tcu?

You don't lose your powertrain warranty when using a JB4. If you have a powertrain issue, you are still able to bring your VW into the dealership and have it fixed under warranty. If you remap your ECU and something breaks your dealership will not warranty the failed part.

And additionally, I think it would be easier to smog your car in California with a JB4 as our over-governed state actually checks and fails cars for having a modified tune! I believe you can just set the tune to "0" and unplug the JB4 device from the OBD2 port prior to a smog inspection here in CA. @@VancityAudi

I've attempted some 60-130 tests for the channel and seeing as the car doesn't make a heck of a lot of power, it takes WAY too much street to get up to those speeds. We don't have very many long straight roads where I live, that I can perform that testing safely. I will try in the future again though.

@@VancityAudi aah I see it is though I done the stock test and I got 14.90 60-130 stage 1+ uno I got a 14 flat 60-130 and 12.20s 60-130 on stage 1+ e85 all stock hardware car
