Baltimore's mayor is just one more corporate LAP DOG who bows to his CORPORATE donors who hold his leash. Nothing ever changes. Not only that, he's a BLACK man who has SOLD OUT his OWN people. What a fucking worthless, USELESS, human being. Why are there so many useless eater-millionaires and billionaires?

I run a small business in Baltimore and I've offered countless sgueegie kids work paying 15 bucks an hour. (Sometimes more depending on the job) Not one has ever taken me up on my offer. Not a single one. I know several other small business owners that have the exact same story. These kids dont want to "work" they want to panhandle. I'm not saying all of them are bad. I am saying that cleaning windows at a busy intersection isn't viable or sustainable. Hell it doesn't even make sense and the fact that anyone is even entertaining the idea of it is amazing. These kids aren't providing a needed product or service. Every car on the road has a windshield washing system. They're not filling a niche, and I've definitely witnessed them (almost daily) use aggressive tactics. I dont know what the answer is. I do know that what they're doing is dangerous and is eventually going to result in some tragedy. In fact it already has. This is just one reason why this is a horrible idea. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RdUkmg7y23k.html

Rents and utilities so expensive. We do not have the income to pay these high rents, added monthly rental charges, that differ each month, while my monthly income stays the same. Dishonest and greedy demons sell us out.
...such is the natural disorder of utopian capitalism. Civilization without a periodic debt Jubilee and public sector financial control will inevitably collapse from accelerating wealth disparity and illegitimate governance and monetary systems. Quite unfortunate for us all.
In NYC they cracking down on kids selling candy on trains. Also the MTA has ads up about pay 2.75 or get $100 fine for fare evasion. (Jumping turnstile or holding the gate) More & more cops are at stations hiding around corners etc. All they are doing is criminalizing poverty
I grew up in the projects, and was a "squeegee kid" back then. I sold the pictures I colored outside of grocery stores, I made play doh kits for moms to buy for their kids, I washed cars when I could, I hunted for cans and saved the money... I experienced some older ladies that tried to catch me and said bad things about my Mom. BTW, my Mom didn't know and didn't ask me to, I wanted to make money to buy things I couldn't get otherwise. It's sad that people want to fix these kids, when these kids are the ones that have the successful outlook on life! I hope they keep it up, and those busybodies back off. BTW, I was a poor white girl -- just saying, that this is a thing that goes beyond race.
What is wrong with the topic? 50 years of neoliberalism has decimated the middle class and made the poor poorer. As a another person stated on this site, it privatizes profits and socializes losses. .
You can see, and hopefully understand, how predatory capitalism works. a small percentage turns a blind eye to this while living in the gated communities to keep you out. I've done essay videos on this subject on my channel, with other matters dealing with similar frames of content. Remember these words of Aristotle; "Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach." Let us learn and do more for a better understanding of our tomorrows, today. ~PEACE!
The US government has been working to destroy the US economy and capitalism for 30 years. The US government is converting the US from capitalism to communism. Therefore the US government wants you to believe that all rich people are evil. With the collapse of the dollar, the US government will convert to communism.
@@louiekidd251 The government has been violently defending and supporting capitalism, and for a lot longer than 30 years... What kind of red scare propaganda film did you crawl out of? Why would they be trying to convert us to communism, when they would lose their power over others in doing so? Why would the government want you to believe all rich people are evil, when that would put huge targets on their OWN millionaire backs? Are you being serious? Because I find it hard to believe that you are.
Ambitious poor kids should be encouraged, not penalized. Especially if they work for donations, and not a set and expected fee assessed on the drivers.
A man has the right to work, what ever his skill is. If they want to wash windows, Let them. 👑May the All mighty Lord protect these boys, and guide them
This is why both Andrew Yang and Bernie Sanders are correct here. Like Steven said, the Freedom Dividend will give these kids and their parents money every month which will be of tremendous benefit to them. But, as Janice said, echoing the squeegee kids, they actually _want_ to work, which is what Bernie has been saying, and why his federal job guarantee is also a necessary solution. Really hope people understand that we can and should do both
You know people, I got tingles listening to the last guy. *Thinking about how Churchill said, "'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.' " I think of the moonshiners, where as the government showed up asking for taxes, to "protect them".
Those young men are blessed. They are trying to provide for their families rather than take a hand out! or be drugged out Work in exchange for their daily bread and a place to live. Those who exploit and repress others are annoying.
One good thing that Toronto did was called Straughan House, housing for the hard to house. If I remember correctly it had 42 rooms. they were divided into sections with 7 rooms in each section. each section had 2 good washroons with tubs and showers and wheelchair accessible. Every room had it's own refrigerator so people could keep their food safe from pillagers and a common kitchen with 2 stove, 2 counters and 2 sinks for easyfood preparation. The building had an office that was manned 24 hours per day to deal with any issues that might arrise. The people that lived there had a combination of issues that made them unable to keep regular housing. Some had mental health issues but not violent issues. Some were prostitutes who were allowed to bring their johns there to service but no overnight guests were allowed. Some were addicts and were allowed to use there but not to deal. For the most part it worked very well and was responsible for reducing crime in the area. Police were not allowed in the building unless someone became uncontrollably violent and no charges were laid unless said violence resulted in someone getting hurt. It could be a solution for much of the homeless problem in a city along with reducing violence and other crimes and allowing the residents to live the lifestyle of their choice wihout facing being criminalized for doing what they do in a safe environment out of sight of the community.
My best friend was once a fellow junkie in West Baltimore named Daniel. We were slaves to heroin, yet we cared for one another. I was so sad to see the impossible situation that the poor and disenfranchised faced each and every second of their lives. Daniel was a black man, I'm white. I think about him frequently. We fell out of contact when I enslaved myself to another form of addiction, the methadone maintenance treadmill. In the words of Elton John, "Oh I miss Daniel, yes I miss him so much." When you actually become a part of the street, you see the reality of what it is like to live within a system of oppression. While Daniel and I were polar opposite, we gave each other support, care and respect. I love him as a friend to this day. The odds of him surviving are not good. Yet sometimes I take a minute to drive around where our lives touched... When I hear the criticism of those in the streets, I want to scream out at the Selfrightous. But I know it is going to fall on deaf ears. These children, trying to make do by self discipline and creativity, are so uplifting to me. I know what they're up against and honestly, this attempt to control and fight these kids by a corrupt government triggered by a fat cat capitalist sickens me. I can tell you one thing. There will come a day when this continued abuse of power and money will cause a national crisis that will bring our nation down. And, it will bring down many other nations as well. Most of us at that point, will have become like Daniel and I were at the time we shared life as junkies in Baltimore. The majority, controlled by a small cadre of corrupt corporate controlled government officials backed by a militarized police force.
i do enjoy this program, thanks, although it frequently makes either very angry or extremely pessimistic. the problems are complex, intertwined and systemic, it is hard to imagine much progress being made on them in today's political environment. calling attention to them is the first step i suppose, so thanks once again. love the Dr. West quote, that man is an american treasure; what a way he has with words.
My plan here in Baltimore that I suggested to city council & Mayors office is this ( since the rich cares so much ) get these multi billion dollar companies that have had these tax breaks the last 20 years ( Under Amour , Amazon , Ravens & Orioles stadium deals , Comcast , Verizon T Rowe price etc) to donate $5 million a year to our Summer JobYouth program . All it needs is sponsored and donations from 5-8 companies yearly totalling $30-$35 million and we could have 15- 20k young people (ages 14-24) with good grades /behavior/attitudes work from close of school June 20th - to- August 20th , 8weeks of summertime work . This has them busy working hard cleaning up the streets /painting /restoring houses / cleaning parks /trash truck removal / sprucing and cleaning govt buildings etc... The businesses and companies that also sponsor them (like a little league team) will have their names on the front of the T-shirts , example : Mars summer job team , Verizon summer youth team , Coke Summer youth group , Team Wal-Mart youth job program ... people this will and can work -&- when it does remember you heard it hear first not from the Govnor , Mayors office or Employment Services but from a real Baltimore creative entrepreneure .....Cozy Colzs ❤
I recently traveled to Kenya and it's very common to see people sell things on the street to your car. They are just trying to make an honest living. If the rich dont like being reminded of poverty..hire them to work, and pay fair share in taxes. I see America becoming a 3rd world country...bad quality water for poor, open sewers in southern states, failing infrastructure, etc.
Wow, what an eye opener! Talk about a man without one shred of social or economic insight or empathy. I'm sure he lives in a gated community and drives a very safe and secure vehicle, so the issue really has to be that he doesn't like to see what it's like to be at the bottom of the heap. Sadly, he couldn't care less and just wants to make huge amounts of money to perpetuate our oligarchical system.
Don't forget, it was most likely revolutionary propagandists who said Marie Anntoinette responded "Let them eat cake" when supposedly told that her people were starving and needed bread.
Actually they can tax you it’s considered to be a business if you’re over 16 years old it’s considered to be taxable which means you need a business license to run it
and yet they're not receiving assistance from the state or city to make it a legitimate business to be taxed instead there to learn to hit the track... Not in United States pull yourself up by the bootstraps America will they support business and competition or so they say
Rand Paul apartently sneaking into my area holding meetings that no one 'mysteriously' knows about to push through logging out of Daniel Boone National Forest. The meeting 'open to the public' (a fine neo-liberal method) was held Monday. No one knew. Im sure there a good chance that will go on record as Morehead Rowan co. Citizen giving 'consent' to this.
I've noticed that the topic of neoliberalism is being brought out of the shadows quite a bit lately. This is long overdue and I commend those who are exposing it. How pervasive is the business model where a few at the top make a very good living, but the vast majority don't?
Our society is nothing more than a sum of individual preferences and therefore, the only job any person has is to look out for is themselves, to maximize their own profit, advantage, power, money. The logic of markets, therefore, is applied to polities. As long as I’m "voting my own self-interest”, then all will be well. That’s our only job, all of us. Now, there’s one very big problem with all this. Can you see it yet? What exactly is my “self-interest”? Well, it’s what neoliberalism and capitalism have taught you it is, to begin with. To have the most money, power, and sex, basically. “Self-interest” in neoliberalism is being an idiot to thinking people and to believe in anything more is to be an idiot to those indoctrinated by neoliberalism. This kind of hyper-individualistic self-interest is really just better called "greed."(Done a video on this.) Intelligent people understand by now, I think, hope, how badly neoliberalism and capitalism have failed economically. But we have to fully grasp how badly they twisted our politics, by warping our attitudes and beliefs in this process. That’s what the idiots think it is, though. Because decades of neoliberalism have indoctrinated them into believing that. It’s the logic of the market, of capitalism. “Whatever people want” is what we should give them. Sure, that’s one way to run a business (and not even a very good one at that) but it’s a completely ruinous way to run a society. And the moment that we equate the aggressive, relentless, individualistic pursuit and exercise and acquisition of power, pleasure, and profit with…democracy…we’ve become idiots, as well. I guess we’ve got our work cut out for us. Because, my friends, the next question is: then how do you unmake an idiot? And the answer to that is, nobody knows, and good luck on that one. ~PEACE!
T.BONE/SIDE OF LIFE Well said. We have to take a serious look in the mirror here in a America. The whole has been and always will be greater than the sum of it’s parts. Baby Boomers were tricked into thinking they could have it all if they “individually” made the right choices but in doing so we as a country lost our humanity. Greed has now become the religion of choice in this 1st world dystopia.
This an actual issue. You can see that these kids are trying to better the home and life situations. These kids are very similar to kids in third world countries doing the same thing or shining shoes
The guy at 9:40 rips my heart out. Maybe the city should build private roads so the rich do not have to see the peasants. Let them eat cake. "The peasants are revolting. " "I'll say, they stink on ice. "
Those gangs cleaning windows is rubbish. I would hate gangs of kids rushing up to the car when you stop asking to clean your window. They just not useful.
Because it is unsafe having these 'kids' in the traffic. If they would clean buildings instead of endangering others nobody would object. Rich are particularly sensitive about their safety, can't be bothered about the poor.
Let's face it. Skinfolk don't make you kinfolk. Us regular people of all colors stay gettin shafted by others as well as our own. We're in this together!
We need a leader who addresses this on a daily basis. We need Bernie 🐦📣Sanders for President! He has been addressing wealth inequality for years! He fights huge companies who want to profit off the backs of the less fortunate, ill, and underserved. He wants healthcare for all, equality for all. Check out Robert Reich's videos too.
No, we need make the changes ourselves. Stop grandstanding for other people and start helping people around you. When is the last time you did something for the less fortunate? Or, are you waiting for Bernie Sanders to buy the guy at 711 a sandwich for you as well?
Been folowwing 'ol Robert for years. He's no friend of yours; signed off on NAFTA which began teh massive offshoring of jobs from the US to Mexico and points south.
an injustice visited on any one of us, is a prelude to further injustice against all of us. capitalism is premised on an unjust and inequitable relationship between people (owners vs workers) and the means of production. the credentialization of work will continue to get worse, and more and more people will be pushed into the precariot until we all come to realize the nature of the inherent contradictions of capitalism.
Brian Jacobsen I’ll wash it with some AK-Spray. Were seriously past the point of civil discourse in this country but most of us plebes are too caught up in nonsense or literally spending every waking hour trying to survive. Capitalism will kill the working class with no mercy.
Fine episode. I'm glad the situation isn't as bad in the small city I reside in southern Quebec, Canada, ... Sherbrooke. There have been problems here that I definitely don't like, but this was sort of odd, for it was done to some innocent individuals and not others. I didn't witness these occasions enough to see which police did this, but have occasionally seen new police, young, and like zealots, and they were like real zealots, whereas older, locally experienced police were okay. Don't know how it'd be in Montreal, f.e., but it seems to normally be ok here. They legally could stop and fine plenty but normally don't. Neo-Liberals are jerks, to say the least. I can be conservative in good ways, such as for health or environmentally, can be liberal when it's a question of being fair, BUT that's not what we have in politics.
The comment by Marie Antoinette is even worse than imagined. Let them eat cake...she is not literally talking about sweet cake that we all know and love. She is talking about the residue that cakes up on the walls of the brick ovens that make bread. Literally cake up on the walls. "Let them eat cake", a horrible statement. We need socialism in America so bad across the board. As a rich person if they support highways. police, firefighters, Army, Navy, Air Force, or hospitals and they will say yes. They are all forms of socialism.
The only economically feasible solution is a permanent Federal Jobs Guarantee. Please bring on an FJG expert to find out why it will work and why it's a far superior proposal to the UBI, which will cause more problems than it will solve.
Is the Kushner's properties in Baltimore a Neo - Liberal example? Do they have low income units set aside? Do they have funding ( Grant's ) and low interest loans from HUD? Millionaires with multi shell real estate companies do and it's all legal. Fred Trump did business with the Housing Authority. Sean Hannity does.
How can kids washing windshields hurt anybody, there are no jobs for those kids. I guess it's easier for them to have the kids go away so they don't have to be reminded of how greedy they are instead of getting them jobs or doing anything at all. We all know prisons are for profit the more they can incarcerate the more money they get and the prisoners work for little or nothing this is a greedy society.
Do I have examples of abuse of the people at the hands of the wealthy? Oh yeah. I have a lot to say about that one. I've written a book about it--to be self-published soon. No kidding. Here's one (of many) stories you could cover: People who grow old and die while on Medicaid aren't allowed to leave their property to their heirs. We've heard about the so-called "death tax" which only affected extremely wealthy people. But this is actually the real death tax: When poor people die and they end up disabled, in a nursing facility and on Medicaid, the govt takes most of their savings, their estate, their home, car, etc. The family isn't allowed to inherit it. This is tragic because often poor or working class families could benefit from inheriting their parents' property but are prevented from doing so 'cause the govt wants to get its money back from paying out Medicaid. Question is this: why did we hear so much about the "death tax" which didn't hurt anyone, just made extremely wealthy people pay a few more taxes, but we don't hear about this which can seriously harm a lot of people? Your grandmother may have saved up $10,000 for your college education, for example, but the government can just take it from you 'cause grandma went into a nursing home. In fact, I heard the govt could come after you and insist you pay back that $10,000 if your grandma gave it to you while she was in the home. Anyhow, things like this only affect the poor and working class, so we rarely hear about it. But you'd better believe that the wealthy would be the first to complain if they so much as lost one dollar from their inheritance. Don't even get me started on the whole student loan scam where poor college students apply for financial aid and are required to take out loans to help fund their education then blamed for being "irresponsible" for taking out the loans that they're forced to take out to fund their tuition. Gosh, I could go on and on... And on... Seems we can talk about these issues for years, but ultimately, nothing ever changes. Oh, but let's impeach Trump and wag our little fingies at Russia. Yeah, that'll solve our complex problems.
