In 2010, the Himalayan nation of Nepal was one of 13 countries to commit to doubling its wild tiger populations by 2022. In the decade since, Nepal is the only country to have achieved that goal.

Over that time, other iconic species including rhinos and elephants have also seen an increase. What's behind the success? And what does it mean for the communities living with the tigers? The BBC's Asia editor Rebecca Henschke reports in "Return of the tigers" from Bardiya National Park.

I bet you don't live anywhere near where Tigers roam. Just like the foreigners who give financial backing. The guy who lost his eye may be stupid but at least one can say he practices what he preaches. All Tiger lovers should swap with the local villagers and live around the killers they want to preserve so much, let's see how that goes. The best part is teaching kids to always walk with a stick, as if that does anything when a 600 pound tiger jumps on them. It's like a South Park sketch, only these are real people that will die.

Thats because people are to afraid. We buy our food at the shop and don't even realise that we ourselves are also food for other species thats where it goes wrong. You saw the outrage of the community they don't understand that we won't all survive and become old, there is no species on earth that has it so comfortable as us and we still complain and getting angry when a very few get eaten by other species. we have it so good but we fear death way to much we should understand that its part of life and loss also teaches humans something about love.

I'm so glad to see tiger populations coming back. I also feel for the people that live there. It must be like living on the razors edge in some ways. Attempting to eek out a living and not get ate at the same time would have to cause a few night terrors! The soldiers and te conservationists have their hands full, but seem to be VERY qualified to do their jobs and take great pride in it. I hope they find a solution that all get to live peacefully. Me too, i ve been there one year ago, one of the villagers said that around 20 -22 people get killed every year by tiger attack in those villages around national park. I think government of Nepal and other INGOs should collaborate together to resolve this issue, otherwise situation might be more harsh in the future days.

I got no words when he had lost his one eye by tiger attack and still saying tiger also have right to live ..with simplicity here again simplicity had won against the world ..may be he had lived fullest life in the lap of the nature and he definitely knows the value of nature and its creation.... a big solute to such hero who still believe in humanity..
